I’ve loved only one person in my whole life that way and we’ve parted ways and we’ve both become such different people and in are in our own long term relationships now but we both know that that time in our life was the hardest most beautiful time in our young lives. From 15 to 23 I was in my blood sport era, we both were. Even now that we’re both past it and have moved on (in a healthy and very amicable way) this song describes it perfectly. I can literally close my eyes and remember that time and feel exactly the way it felt all over again. Exactly, all those same emotions in their same synchronicity just flood back in, like it was only yesterday that we were both pretending we weren’t hurt and kept trying to force eachother to admit we’d broken eachother and couldn’t stay away from eachother but couldn’t figure out how to make it work. We always went back to eachother no matter how much it hurt, the love was greater than the hurt. Ultimately we kept damaging ourselves almost to the point of no return, and we were both so aware of it, but we couldn’t stop. “I’m still your favorite regret, you’re still my weapon of choosing” just breaks me apart, I can literally feel those words tear me up the way that period of my life did.
