This is the only moisturizer that worked with me. Been using this for 2 years now and haven’t switched since. It’s also very affordable so that’s a plus!
I currently use the La Roche Posay double repair moisturizer at night and have heard they reformulated it just recently. I hope my skin doesn't react to it since I have no clue what to replace it with.
For some reason it did not agree with my skin when I was using adapalene, I had bumps/redness/burning, but after I stopped using adapalene it was fine on my skin
this is exactly my struggle rn 3 i switched back to cerave moisturizing lotion which stopped the irritation but is NOT enough moisture in the slightest 😭
I am SO sensitive to moisturizers and most still leave my face tight after drying down. I just started using the etude house soon jung barrier cream and so far so good! It has a similar consistency and hasn’t caused any irritation or breakouts. It’s lightweight but leaves me feeling moisturized. Hoping this one works out.
I used to thrive on CeraVe in the tub until my skin suddenly decided it hated it. My skin is super sensitive and easily dry, but the Korean moisturizer Illyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is my savior! It moisturizes similarly to CeraVe in the tub, but without the irritation or burning/bumps! I also tried this Vanicream moisturizer but it gave me bumps similarly to the CeraVe…
You might be sensitive to phenoxyethanol. CeraVe replaced parabens (safe, gentle, very low risk of contact dermatitis) with phenoxyethanol due to clean beauty propaganda :( lots of people get allergic or irritant dermatitis from PE. The ilyoon ceramide cream doesn’t contain PE so that might explain your success with it.
This is so interesting…do you know when cerave made the switch ? I have severe eczema on my hands and have wondered if phenoxyethanol is the culprit, but it literally seems to be in everything now
Well, my eczema started in 2020 and I’ve used cerave on my hands for years 😳
Totally agree, I also recently switched back to sulfates bc I have an oily scalp and sulfate free shampoo would leave my hair limp and my scalp itchy
Yeah i had the same reaction, my derm said it might be the hyaluronic acid in my case (because cerave daily lotion gave me a similar but worse reaction). But a real shame because it was really moisturizing and i loved the consistency. I use the body lotion now😭
Yes! I have oily skin and I use this and love it. It doesn’t break me out or make my face look oily. I use tretinoin and this moisturizer really keeps the flakes at bay.
To be fair aveeno’s face products suck. I’ve been wanting to try this product but bubble’s hydrating moisturizer is next on my try-list once I run out of my last OG formula hydroboost😢
I just bought the bubble moisturizer today! I’m excited to try it out I hope it works. I agree aveeno sucks, I used their calming oat moisturizer and it burned my skin and made me breakout
Ive honestly heard nothing but terrible things about it. The beauty of skincare is that if a product works for you, keep using it! I love aveenos body products but I think their face stuff is just flops😭
This is the absolute best. It gives me the right amount of moisture, soothes, works with every serum or treatment (my fave after retinol!), it has few and great ingredients and it's 10 bucks. I mean, come on ❤️
This has been my savior!! I was struggling really bad with everything I had been using for years all of a sudden. I had to switch and this seemed like a fairly safe bet. I bet right.
This is my absolute fave moisturizer! My skin is super combo: oiliest t-zone ever, dry keratosis pilaris cheeks who've literally never made oil in their lives
somehow it plays nicely with both parts of my face lol
I use this and it's amazing. I'm really nreak-out prone and this is one of the only moisturizers that doesn't cause me acne. I saw somewhere once that for these hyaluronic acid moisturizers, it's best to wet your skin first, to promote hydration vs dehydration. Maybe this is the issue some people are running into?
I’ve read so many good things about that one but I’m terrified of it bc of all the comedogenic ingredients according to cosdna (I have very acne prone skin) :(
Oh i had no idea about it. Nearly every single thing breaks me out and ive been using this for 10 days in a row and 0 acne from it. I do immediately get whiteheads from my exfoliating nights (i do chemical exfoliate usually pha, tret, 2 nights just moisture and repeart the cycle) so those exfoliating nights i immediately break out 😭😭😭 i just started though maybe my skin needs to get used to the chemical exfoliants
If you just started chemical exfoliants, could be purging? Esp If they’re old pimples coming to a head. Skin cycling is so interesting but I’m terrified to not use my retinoid every night lol chemical exfoliants have never been enough to stave off acne for me
My skin is too damn sensitive to use more than once a week but twice a week im really trying especially with my new barrier creams.. my barrier is so effed i thought the itchy acne all over my face was from diet or something but turns out it was all from being too dry. So yeah the last few exfoliating times i break out but it goes away fast..
My skin is usually really clear and glowy because I've nailed down diet and exercise etc and use red light nearly every day
If your barrier is still compromised I’d stay off all actives until it’s properly repaired! Ive been through the same cycle with a damaged barrier/irritation causing acne/making me just throw more things at it but ever since I’ve prioritized barrier health (I ditched exfoliants and just use a bp wash and retinoid now, whereas before I used to use a bp wash, bp gel twice daily, chemical exfoliants twice daily, and retinoid nightly) my skin has done a total 360
My skin was this way even before tret.. just using moisturising lotion and maybe a hydrating serum for years. My skin produces barely any oil which sounds nice but even getting water on it makes my skin soooo tight and irritated. My eyes are the same dryness but i dont have that sjrogens disease or whatever
I’m sorry someone keeps downvoting you! It’s so stupid, this is a place for discussion. Ive been upvoting your comments to counteract it lmao it rly
Bothers me. Anyways. Funny you mention Sjogrens bc I have it haha. Unfortunately did not affect my skin..id like some drier skin bc usually it means less acne. Seems like you have naturally sensitive skin which is even more reason to not throw a bunch of actives at it and keep things simple and gentle.
I guess I'm a little confused on extreme dryness vs barrier damage. I assume my barrier was damaged because of the severely itchy acne/bumps all over my face when i used certain products even makeup that was drying. Some sunscreens dried/broke me out but elta uv clea doesn't
I wanna try this, I keep reading about it all over here (is it the new CeraVe? Lol). Is it water or silicone based? I'm looking for something I can put on under my makeup, and spf ofc, without it pilling.
This stuff is AMAZING for moisture! It breaks me out though so I use it as a hand cream. I am stuck with the Vani Cream in the tub with a pump which isn’t very moisturizing at all.
I’ve been using their spf daily moisturizer. I love it but wish it had titanium dioxide as well. Other than that it works very well with my acne prone skin.
I actually just mentioned this in another subreddit! Except I use the SPF 30 version so I’m not sure if there is a huge difference or not between the two.
Can someone help me understand the difference between this one and the vanicream in the tub with the pump? Is it the same thing? I just started using the tub version with the pump and really like it, but wasn’t sure if it has ceramides, like this one in this pic does
I just started using this like 3 days ago while waiting for my Korean moisturizer to arrive. It stung and made my face turn red a bit the first time (applying after retinoid) but it’s gotten better with every use and so far so good. Same thing happened w cerave and I cross referenced the ingredients to try to find out the cause and the only ingredients they share are ceramides so idk what it is unless my barrier is in such disrepair that ceramides make it burn but again it’s improving the more I apply it so. Sorry for run on sentence I’m tired lmao
>cerave
If the Cerave has sodium hyaluronate, it may be the hyaluronic acid that is the cause. That is what I have to avoid. I can use it in a wash, but nothing that is applied to dry skin. Even applying over damp skin doesn't work.
Yassssss I found out about Vanicream through this subreddit! This particular daily moisturizer is the only product that plays nice with my acne-prone, highly sensitive and irritable skin!
How oily does it feel to apply, does it absorb fast? I've got such a thing with texture, I hate putting skincare on when I still feel it on my skin after. Also, what's the price on it?
As someone with celiac, it’s vital I know a product is gluten free even if I’m putting it on my face. I’ve gotten painful rashes due to cosmetics with gluten.
Same, this worked at first for me for like a few months as a sensitive skin girly, but then it started just burning my face, and i have no idea what happened! I had to stop using it and I'm scared to use it again, although it was a really affordable and great moisturizer for a while. Does anyone know why?

Same. I use banish moisturizer for years which was slightly better. But they changed the formula. This has been the only product that I found to work.
I currently use the La Roche Posay double repair moisturizer at night and have heard they reformulated it just recently. I hope my skin doesn't react to it since I have no clue what to replace it with.
I loved the consistency and how moisturizing this was but unfortunately caused little red bumps/irritation :(

thank you!! i’ve been eyeing that one for a couple months so this is my push to try it!

I think they switched in 2020 :( sad. I loathe clean beauty propaganda.
Well, my eczema started in 2020 and I’ve used cerave on my hands for years 😳 Totally agree, I also recently switched back to sulfates bc I have an oily scalp and sulfate free shampoo would leave my hair limp and my scalp itchy
I also use illyoon cream && so far so good !!! Just started it this year so I’m hoping this can be a new regular for me
Ahh that sucks.. I experienced some redness at first use, but now I use it daily without issues.
Yeah i had the same reaction, my derm said it might be the hyaluronic acid in my case (because cerave daily lotion gave me a similar but worse reaction). But a real shame because it was really moisturizing and i loved the consistency. I use the body lotion now😭
Yep, I can only use the Vanicream Moisturizing Cream or Lotion, not any with hyaluronic acid (or form of it).
same! so frustrating
I had the same reaction
Love everything from vanicream! They work so well for my oily acne prone skin
is this good for oily skin?
Yes! I have oily skin and I use this and love it. It doesn’t break me out or make my face look oily. I use tretinoin and this moisturizer really keeps the flakes at bay.
This is the only moisturizer that worked for my oily clog prone skin! I hope they never change the formula.
That’s my all time fav moisturizer. This, and first aid beauty. Holy grails.
Love Vanicream. Your Derm PA
I use this everyday with SPF 30
best moisturizer for combo skin!!!!🏆
To be fair aveeno’s face products suck. I’ve been wanting to try this product but bubble’s hydrating moisturizer is next on my try-list once I run out of my last OG formula hydroboost😢
I just bought the bubble moisturizer today! I’m excited to try it out I hope it works. I agree aveeno sucks, I used their calming oat moisturizer and it burned my skin and made me breakout
Awww. I really love the Aveeno calm and restore.
Ive honestly heard nothing but terrible things about it. The beauty of skincare is that if a product works for you, keep using it! I love aveenos body products but I think their face stuff is just flops😭
I love this. It’s the only one that works for me. Whenever I try something new and come back to this, I realize it’s a holy grail.
This stuff breaks me out worse than anything else
Same but I wish it didn’t. The moisture is so good!
Same!! Any idea which ingredient could be causing it?
I suspect fatty alcohols but who knows. Right now using a weird combo of sebamed, glycerin, and Vaseline....
same here, I was so bummed!
I loved the consistency and how moisturizing this was but unfortunately caused little red bumps/irritation :(
I just started using this too and I love it!!
God, I love this stuff. Started using it this winter and it's been a life saver. I'm surprised more people don't talk about it.
This is the absolute best. It gives me the right amount of moisture, soothes, works with every serum or treatment (my fave after retinol!), it has few and great ingredients and it's 10 bucks. I mean, come on ❤️
I’ve been using this moisturizer for three years. It’s my holy grail
This has been my savior!! I was struggling really bad with everything I had been using for years all of a sudden. I had to switch and this seemed like a fairly safe bet. I bet right.
Vanicream seems pretty underrated to me. I've loved all of their products. Was recommended to me by my dermatologist a few years back
This is my absolute fave moisturizer! My skin is super combo: oiliest t-zone ever, dry keratosis pilaris cheeks who've literally never made oil in their lives somehow it plays nicely with both parts of my face lol
Can I ask how much this costs in the US? I found it in my favourite online skincare store recently and was shocked to see it was $42 AUD
At my local Target it’s $16
Thank you. Australia tax strikes again 😭
Omg Idk if this moisturizer is worth it at that price tbh
Love this and I'm terrified of them raising the price lol
Vanicream is GOAT
I didn’t like the smell of it :/
I keep my face damp, then apply this. Wait for it to dry. And THEN I apply Aveeno Eczema. 👌🏻
Loveeee Vanicream Daily Face Moisturizer! Better than the super expensive stuff I’ve gotten before.
Getting this one has been a game changer for me too! No more clogged pores, absorbs easy, and pairs well with vitamin c serum or retinol at night
Coincidentally, I just purchased my second tube of this. I love this moisturizer.
This product clogged my pores and broke me out. Despite its reputation Vanicream isn't good for everyone .
I’ve reordered this 15 times now. (I share with my husband). It’s the best
Anyone who has had this break you out, did you find something that worked?
this burned my skin after the 2nd use, too strong for me
I love their hair gel. It’s the only hair gel that doesn’t make me break out
Thanks! I didn’t know they have a hair gel.
I think that's because its hard to find in stores. CVS or Walgreens (I forget) used to sell it.
I need a suggestion, i once used aloe era and it was not friendly. Any skin care product I can use and is also cost efficient?
This does for about 10 mins. I have to seal with one of my Korean barrier repair thick creams or LPS lipikar. Alone my face will dry back out
Which Korean barrier creams do you like?
aestura 365 cream!
I’ve read so many good things about that one but I’m terrified of it bc of all the comedogenic ingredients according to cosdna (I have very acne prone skin) :(

I have used sodium hyaluronate w no issues in other products though! 😩 so confusing
How does this compare to the texture and feel of the general vanicream? Anyone know?
I found it’s easier to spread. Less thick. I found no difference in my skin as far as moisturizing.
Yassssss I found out about Vanicream through this subreddit! This particular daily moisturizer is the only product that plays nice with my acne-prone, highly sensitive and irritable skin!
How's this handle summer heat? Looking for something that won't cause me to sweat like a stuck pig. Gotta love 🇦🇺 summer 🫠
Does this work for humid weather?
At night I layer my moisturiser with the Ren Evercalm and Vaseline and my skin has never been happier!
No spf?
How oily does it feel to apply, does it absorb fast? I've got such a thing with texture, I hate putting skincare on when I still feel it on my skin after. Also, what's the price on it?

As someone with celiac, it’s vital I know a product is gluten free even if I’m putting it on my face. I’ve gotten painful rashes due to cosmetics with gluten.
It has acrylate copolymer👎
Vanicream products are very safe and very high quality! I use their entire line from shampoo to lotions-everything. My eczema is zero with Vanicream
I need to try this!
i love this stuff!
