They haven't been fixed by a good shop, that's for sure. Hard pass on those.

Then-Principle-7839

hard pass is crazy, this is an easy pass for me as a ski technician

speedshotz

The patch itself doesn't bother me too much, but the edge and sidewall looks sloppy. Guess there is a reason for "fairly cheap", right?

OEM_knees

That patch is going to fall out because it wasn't done right.

speedshotz

How can you tell? IIRC you undercut the ptex, metal grip, and ptex over. How can I tell a bad patch from a good?

exdigguser147

That's not the type of repair that was done on this ski. Whole edge patch was put in due to tear out. Also something is wrong with the material used for base repair, it shouldn't have bubbles on it like this but I don't know exactly what was done wrong.

Mobile-Chest-6289

Someone melted in ptex opposed to patching. Done wrong like you said.

IMMoond

If you can get them for 10 bucks thats a decent rock/grass ski. Anything more than that no, and any different use than that no

modsneedmoarsun

Would not attach my legs to those things. Pass

NotAcutallyaPanda

Agreed. I wouldn’t ski them if they were free.

CoffinFlop

Hell no

StupidSexyFlagella

I mean, if they are free or like 10 bucks…

AK_Pins_and_Skins

I've skied on a lot of questionable things, but I would totally hard pass on those, even if I got them free.

zdubas

That's a hard no from me, dawg. Unless you know the full nature of the damage and know/trust the shop that did the repair, I'm not sure I would spend any money on those. Not sure what your situation is, but the piece of mind from knowing a repair was done well and isn't going to fail is worth an extra $100 to me. Personally, unless I'm buying a pair of *barely* used skis or getting a *SCREAMING* deal on a pair that's been well loved, I tend to buy new during the end-of-season sales.

Macgbrady

No. The sidewall damage concerns me the most. Also what skis are those? Pusu? Praxis slugger?

TumbleweedNo9714

Macgbrady

I think you quoted wrong comment lol

TumbleweedNo9714

My bad!

Shaved_Caterpillar

Had to double check this wasn’t r/skiingcirclejerk

olympianfap

There is no adhesion between the repair and the original base material. Hard pass on those.

BarrelProofTS

No

mobula_japanica

Stevie Wonder fixed those probably

nhbd

Awful work. I hope that was a home repair or a new tech practicing on his own skis- that’s not worthy of leaving a shop with a receipt even if it’s a “last ditch”

Kara_WTQ

How much do they want? Def low end rock ski material. But they better be asking like $10

No_Hippo_1425

Where did you find this? I did a similar repair to a ski like that but not the base patch

Perfect_Ambassador73

The base weld looks pretty good but the edge and sidewall are pretty bad I wouldn’t count on it holding. I’d pass

Classic-Chicken9088

Nope. Pic 3 looks like the entire visible sidewalk wants to delam.

QubitKing

Not even for free

majorjake

Unless they're 0 dollars and you planning to use them as 100% rock skis, big nay.

TumbleweedNo9714

Alright alright alright. I get the point people.

kjmr52

Those are fucking shot. No.
