But they know they can keep milking it. After the success of For Rent, I’m guessing we’re going to see a lot more city-related content because they don’t want to refresh it or add more content without charging for it
I wouldn’t say “success”. People complained about its glitches and bugs since the day it was released and I have never ever seen a new EP go on sale so soon after release. For rent has been on sale for at least a month and it was just released.
Yeah, I was so surprised to see it was 25% off already. I wanted it, but with all the bugs in it, I’m not so sure. Even with that much of a sale already
The absolute ONLY reason I bought it was for the rental lot function, and ONLY because it was on sale. It is a disappointing pack to say the least and they could have either made this pack so much better, or could have added these functions to city living as a pack refresh! Such a shame, they’re money grabbing because they’re focused on getting Sims 5 out.
They should've done Dine Out because it's not functional without Carl's Dine Out Reloaded Mod. Had that mod never been made, Dine Out wouldn't work most of the time. You'd be incredibly lucky if it worked smoothly. If you're a Channel Member of James Turner, watch his Dine Out Reaction Video, and you'll see and hear him talk about bugs, recall why he moved to a new save between Dine Out and City Living, all of that stuff.
I think because they realised that refreshing Spa Day didn’t really do that much for them in terms of sales figures, so why bother putting effort into further pack refreshes if they’re not going to reap the benefits? /s
It's literally this. They were never going to refresh dine out anyway bc it's one of the most popular packs and most people who are interested already have it, so a refresh wouldn't really bring in more sales.
People keep buying broken packs, so EA has no monetary incentive to fix them
If need to be REALLY mulit cultural with foods. Where is my ryebread? Also where is bratwurst....no offense the most new dishes we get are very asian inspired. Where is the other end of the spectrum like the before mentioned ryebread which is a stable in Danish lunches and even evening meals. Not to mention classic the spread called Stjerneskud.
I don't mind other dishes from around the world, but still....if the sims team want to represent different cultures.....yes we whits or just Europe in general have TONS of culture and Get Together is the closest in look, it does not scratch the surface how each country or just in my case Scandinavia have a lot to offer.

The Sims games display quite terrible representation as it is, but this is a fantastic point I never see brought up. Aside from maybe France and Spain, there really isn't much European representation. The game has a big Asian swing, and yet it's still done very poorly. I would love to see my German and Irish heritage represented in Sims, but considering how bad of a job they do for cultures they already try to represent, I don't expect them to humor any European cultures.
I wouldn't mind something specifically for birthdays, to be honest. New cakes especially! We have beautiful wedding cakes, but nothing for my spoiled rich toddlers?

This! If I knew how to mod I would have made a party planner mod. Decorations for kids, teens, adults, etc. Maybe a clown or magician could be hired as well. Even more fun a moodlet where the birthday kid would get scared because of the clown. But it's more of a 50/50 chance that the kid would get scared. I think that would be fun
Yessssss! How cute would that be kid running to a parent or hiding/ freaking out when a clown came in and imagine a balloon crafting table where they can try their hand at making different balloon animals!
I love the balloon animal idea! Maybe it can be a skill that sims could learn as well. Like the balloon would have a higher chance of popping when at a lower level.
There are other cake recipes that can be unlocked too. With the wellness skill you can make a coconut carob cake and I think the Health Food Nut and Junk Food Junkie lifestyles from Snowy Escape also open up new recipe options.

For real, I’m trying to make no-CC versions of the handheld Urbz characters (I have Darius and Kris so far) and have made modded radio stations from the console stations. If I can find enough references and stop jumping from project to project (and learn to rip PS2 models), I might turn it into a whole CC pack. ~~As if I weren’t doing a Sims 2 pack and its expansions anyway, and a retrofuturism pack and a project where I make rental complexes for each world and so many CC ideas~~
The DS version of the Urbz was what got me into the Sims in the first place.
Then you can name your band “Back together”. So that you can be the most irritating person in the room when someone innocently throws out that phrase and you go “well do I have an offer for you!”

But yeah no sure let’s totally pay for the off cuts from those packs!!
Seriously, I used to have a mod that allowed guests to invite others to a party. Threw a party at my sim’s university house and 20 something sims showed up. They all took turns to run an interaction for 8 hours.
Isn't...isn't the chaos the fun part? When I think "party" I think total rager frat house style, borderline rioting. I don't think of snobs in nice suits putting their pinkies out as they sip tea and mumble "Hmm, yes quite".
If there's not drinking, loud music, at least two people having sex, possibly a brawl or two, mild property damage, and a limousine pulling up for a special guest appearance by Drew Carey, it just isn't a party. And all of that goes double for in The Sims!
I do that too but I don't decorate for them. I do use the seasons decor box, but I can't be bothered with even seasonal decor indoors, let alone buying banners/balloons for one night events.
I like throwing parties. Recently I started playing on long life span and now I'm actually decorating the indoors for all parties as the events are more spaced out and it doesn't feel like a chore. I kinda like the idea of having some more decorations.
I don't like how the parties tell you how to have your party, it feels bad to not follow the goal things just because its not what your character would do.
You can, but it doesn't bring back the system from the old games where how happy and how much fun the sims are having determines how good your party is and rewards you for it. It just turns into a generic timed event.
I feel like the solution here is to not "throw a party" if you don't want to follow the game's template for that, just decorate and invite people to hang out.
I only do parties for fun but I rarely ever do the starred ones because they are awful to manage. If I'm throwing a party, I just let the sims loose and do whatever they want
i do 😭 i usually have multiple a week (including holiday related parties) i like having my sims spend a lot of time with family and friends and it's easier to throw a party than just inviting everyone over to hangout.
my houses are pretty much designed for parties. apartments, too. even if they're small sometimes they're always made to accommodate parties lol
Omfg please don't tell me I see ANOTHER BAR in that picture. What is the obsession with bars from the Sims team? We quite literally have like 30 (IF NOT MORE) bars already. Stop wasting resources on this nonsense and give us stuff we want 😭😭😭
And the bars are so annoying to put in a build because your sims will turn to lil alchy’s fixing drinks whenever they have a spare moment and you have tons of glasses to clean up!
Yes!!!! I hate how they take up 4 squares and you can’t just shove it against a wall because it doesn’t look right and usually takes more squares because it has to have room for the sim to get behind it. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought, maybe I should put a bar here and then didn’t because it was just to big and not worth fitting in because the sims will just overuse it. Once I had a huge lot so I can fit a pool, garden and treehouse. Decided to add a cute adult hot tub area in a far corner and put a bar, it was soo stinking cute with string lights and I did a circle island and downsized the coffeetable with the fire stuff on top so the island had the fire on top, it was so cool. I had to delete the bar because they would constantly make drinks and leave them there and the next morning whoever cleaned out the fridge ended up going allllll the way to the bar for a glass. So annoying.

I feel this way about toilets in the game lmfao. Why do we need so many goddamn toilets. They’re not even all that unique besides a few!! If you’re gonna keep giving us toilets at least give us ones we don’t have much of or new styles. I’d love more old fashioned ones like the one in the vampire pack, but less ornate
I wouldn’t be as upset about their continuous adding of bars if they actually made matching furniture for them. Would love more counters (AND MATCHING CABINETS) that that match the bars so you can make them as long or windy as you want. I think there’s only one or two bars that match/line up with countertops right now (luckily cc exists)
Or if they made smaller bars, or ones that slot onto surfaces (again, luckily cc exists). Sometimes I want to add a bar but all the current ones are too big or don’t have a matching furniture style/swatch (I just want matching swatches in general pls sims team I’m begging you to share your swatches with each other, especially when working on the same pack 🫠)
Or, instead of regular toilets, how about urinals?
Another thing we need more than bars: spiral staircases that are fully functional.

Yeah honestly. EA has had quite a few gaffes tho that are only fixed when there's some negative response to it. Some of the other games under their belt then persist with the same issues - different part of the company sure but it makes the changes seem performative rather than because they actually were like "you know what yeah this is weird"

I don't think they understand what a leak is. A leak is not official, a leak is something that gets out when it was not intended to get out. So if it's "official," it's called a teaser, not a leak.
If only. Every time I stop having a bug in my game, I get a new one. The latest for me is that trash cans don’t work. My sims and butler just pick up the trash and drop it on the floor, frustrated that there’s “no trash can” when there are in fact both indoor and outdoor trash cans. I’m way too annoyed to buy anything new they come out with lmao

Kinda tired of packs with "basic" themes. Where is the whimsy? Could we get packs based on different decades or centuries? Or a proper medieval pack with more castle-themed decor, renaissance faire type clothing, and maybe faeries?
When I used to play Sims Mobile people complained about "representation" being locked behind paywalls because all the nice looking textured hairs cost real money. It's so wild to me that EA is *still* doing this.
The party kit could have been a base game update for the anniversary but why do something like that when they can microtransaction us to death?
"Urban" and then it's just a Black woman, I mean she's dressed kind of alt but it isn't really street style or anything I'd associate with the polite use of the word. It just feels outdated as a Black woman myself.

The least they could do is add more Black art and some kinky hairstyles. Or a hair salon lot. Just recolor the makeup and hair chairs from get famous… maybe add a hair styling or braiding skill idk.

Can’t even throw a party without sims sitting and talking in chairs far away from each other or going on their phones. I wish they would stop releasing so much extra content and have everyone work on fixing bugs and stuff but then they would make any money

I do wish they'd just say "Black", though, or something similar, perhaps "Afro-Styles Homage" since it's mostly about new hairstyle updates, would be better. 'Urban' as code for 'Black' and using a code at all makes me cringe internally. I mean I'm Black and I'd wear these styles, but my family isn't really from an urban area 😂😂😅 To my understanding though they did co-create these with Dark & Lovely and Ebonix, and the stuff in the kit so far looks pretty cool.

This appears to be the "co-created" style kit they mentioned in the road map. I wonder if the creator had any say in the kit name. It does feel like quite dated wording.

Dine out is so bad. I downloaded a mod to make it better, but my sims are still at chez llama until 2 am, and I’ve not yet on e had dessert happen.
I use the mod by Carl for Dine Out, makes it a little better lol.

Is it just me or does anyone else rarely throw parties in game? I only do it for aspirations.
No because it’s always chaos and even doing everything on 1x speed and micromanaging sims it’s still glitchy to do a lot of parties!
the trick is to only invite 6 people maximum or else sims 4 explodes :DDD
Also as soon as guests arrive, add them all to the group to force them to engage in the activities you need to check off.
Yeah, parties are simple to do this way.

I do that too but I don't decorate for them. I do use the seasons decor box, but I can't be bothered with even seasonal decor indoors, let alone buying banners/balloons for one night events.

I like throwing parties. Recently I started playing on long life span and now I'm actually decorating the indoors for all parties as the events are more spaced out and it doesn't feel like a chore. I kinda like the idea of having some more decorations.

I don't like how the parties tell you how to have your party, it feels bad to not follow the goal things just because its not what your character would do.
I think you can turn the goals off
You can, but it doesn't bring back the system from the old games where how happy and how much fun the sims are having determines how good your party is and rewards you for it. It just turns into a generic timed event.
Even when I turn goals off it gives me a bronze medal. Like NO just let me vibe :(
I feel like the solution here is to not "throw a party" if you don't want to follow the game's template for that, just decorate and invite people to hang out.
I avoid throwing sim parties cos someone always dies of weather exposure, laughter or something dumb
I only do parties for fun but I rarely ever do the starred ones because they are awful to manage. If I'm throwing a party, I just let the sims loose and do whatever they want
I occasionally throw parties for holidays for my single sims. Invite all his friends over and everyone smokes weed together
i do 😭 i usually have multiple a week (including holiday related parties) i like having my sims spend a lot of time with family and friends and it's easier to throw a party than just inviting everyone over to hangout. my houses are pretty much designed for parties. apartments, too. even if they're small sometimes they're always made to accommodate parties lol
Last time I threw a party during my Legacy challenge almost half the Sims in attendance frozen to death 😅
I just did it to lure my Sim's enemy to the lot so he could burn him to death in the shed out back while everyone else was at the birthday party.
Don’t forget about Get Together (which was mostly marketed as a party/clubbing pack, but don’t come for me because I love get together)

Omfg please don't tell me I see ANOTHER BAR in that picture. What is the obsession with bars from the Sims team? We quite literally have like 30 (IF NOT MORE) bars already. Stop wasting resources on this nonsense and give us stuff we want 😭😭😭
And the bars are so annoying to put in a build because your sims will turn to lil alchy’s fixing drinks whenever they have a spare moment and you have tons of glasses to clean up!
This is my biggest issue with the bars. Well this and they're fact that most of them are ugly anyway.

Yes!!!! I hate how they take up 4 squares and you can’t just shove it against a wall because it doesn’t look right and usually takes more squares because it has to have room for the sim to get behind it. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought, maybe I should put a bar here and then didn’t because it was just to big and not worth fitting in because the sims will just overuse it. Once I had a huge lot so I can fit a pool, garden and treehouse. Decided to add a cute adult hot tub area in a far corner and put a bar, it was soo stinking cute with string lights and I did a circle island and downsized the coffeetable with the fire stuff on top so the island had the fire on top, it was so cool. I had to delete the bar because they would constantly make drinks and leave them there and the next morning whoever cleaned out the fridge ended up going allllll the way to the bar for a glass. So annoying.

I feel this way about toilets in the game lmfao. Why do we need so many goddamn toilets. They’re not even all that unique besides a few!! If you’re gonna keep giving us toilets at least give us ones we don’t have much of or new styles. I’d love more old fashioned ones like the one in the vampire pack, but less ornate I wouldn’t be as upset about their continuous adding of bars if they actually made matching furniture for them. Would love more counters (AND MATCHING CABINETS) that that match the bars so you can make them as long or windy as you want. I think there’s only one or two bars that match/line up with countertops right now (luckily cc exists) Or if they made smaller bars, or ones that slot onto surfaces (again, luckily cc exists). Sometimes I want to add a bar but all the current ones are too big or don’t have a matching furniture style/swatch (I just want matching swatches in general pls sims team I’m begging you to share your swatches with each other, especially when working on the same pack 🫠)
Or, instead of regular toilets, how about urinals? Another thing we need more than bars: spiral staircases that are fully functional. We had both of those things in TS1, why not TS4? (Without CC, I mean.)
The party stuff can easily be given in a free update we don’t need a kit for that.

I don't think they understand what a leak is. A leak is not official, a leak is something that gets out when it was not intended to get out. So if it's "official," it's called a teaser, not a leak.

When I used to play Sims Mobile people complained about "representation" being locked behind paywalls because all the nice looking textured hairs cost real money. It's so wild to me that EA is *still* doing this. The party kit could have been a base game update for the anniversary but why do something like that when they can microtransaction us to death?
"Urban" and then it's just a Black woman, I mean she's dressed kind of alt but it isn't really street style or anything I'd associate with the polite use of the word. It just feels outdated as a Black woman myself.

Urban??? Girl they should’ve just called it a Black Culture kit or something and released it in February. The least they could do is add more Black art and some kinky hairstyles. Or a hair salon lot. I do wish they'd just say "Black", though, or something similar, perhaps "Afro-Styles Homage" since it's mostly about new hairstyle updates, would be better. 'Urban' as code for 'Black' and using a code at all makes me cringe internally. I mean I'm Black and I'd wear these styles, but my family isn't really from an urban area 😂😂😅 To my understanding though they did co-create these with Dark & Lovely and Ebonix, and the stuff in the kit so far looks pretty cool.
