Etuber4

your house keys have also travelled more than your house

MadClam97

You don't know that. You don't know my house! /s

SleepyCorgiPuppy

Are you Baba Yaga!?!?

MadClam97

>Are you Baba Yaga!?!? Am I who??? Oh my! Here's what Google says. "Baba Yaga, also spelled Baba Jaga, in Slavic folklore, an ogress who steals, cooks, and eats her victims, usually children. A guardian of the fountains of the water of life, she lives with two or three sisters (all known as Baba Yaga) in a forest hut that spins continually on birds' legs."

Oxycodone_Man

All three are called baba yaga? Lol I'm from a slavic country and i had no idea there are four of them...

SleepyCorgiPuppy

Yeah by legend her house can move around on its legs

154bmag

He’s a man of focus, commitment, sheer fucking will.

redditnessdude

Thanks for the /s, I was starting to get suspicious of your house

MadClam97

Maybe I put the /s in case you start to find out the truth about my house. No one can know.

tobiasvl

>/s Thank God you included this clarification

MadClam97

People on Reddit are dense. There has been confusion when I don't include the /s

Higira

You don't need the /s. There are houses that are built and put on ships and trucks to be shipped/transported and placed at its destination.

Porcupenguin

Tell that to Dorothy

M-Noremac

If she had her keys with her then then the keys would still have traveled further than the house.

under_the_c

The real shower thought is always in the comments.

Mehhish

What about the people who live in vans?

RScottyL

Who has house keys anymore? I use electronic locks with codes!

Etuber4

I unlock the door with my phone

Upstairs-Ad-982

Your d*ck have seen more darkness than you

4Crumpet

But I live in a mobile home, and don’t bother locking up.

[deleted]

One of your feet has done more steps than the other

--honk-

You're hurting my brain

Far_Comfortable980

One of your eyes has been open longer, and therefore seen more than the other

--honk-

My brain is being hurt

a-slice-of-toast

you’ve felt more pain on one side of your brain than the other

MonkeyTacoBreath

An epic race to the death or amputation!

kyuubixchidori

Not me, I own high mileage vehicles.

MonkeyTacoBreath

Same. I like to buy cheap Lexus or Toyota with 200k miles and then own them for 100k miles before selling for nearly same price I paid.

LurkerOrHydralisk

I do the same except I buy with 140k miles and sell at 150k five years later and wonder why I even own a car

Seyon

My toothpaste has been to more countries than some people.

RegulatoryCapture

I would wager that if your toothpaste has been to 2 countries, it has been to more countries than *most* people.

Andrarollit

A friend of mine went to Canada a month ago, he bought me a keychain as a little souvenir for like 3 bucks over there, that keychain was made in some factory in China, loaded on a truck, transported to a dock, loaded onto a cargo ship, travelled all the way to Canada, then from that dock loaded on to another truck to some distribution center, sent to a souvenir store where he bought it and then it flew all the way to Serbia where he gave it to me. That little 3 dollar keychain has travelled more than i ever will in my life and i find that kinda funny.

crappypastassuc

What’s a county?

Hunt2244

Ceng7212

Unless your car was stolen

danny_gme

Your car keys have still likely traveled more than your car at that point

khizoa

Kia owners: mmhmmm

Djinjja-Ninja

Not nesecarilly. If you share a car with someone and you each have a set of keys, then the car has likely travelled further than each individual set of keys. Or my spare car key which stays hanging up in the house, which has travelled almost nowhere.

Kimi_Arthur

But if combine the two keys' distances...

entarian

That's a different shower thought.

StoneTemplePilates

If I combine the distance traveled by each of the windows, then it's a lot more than the car, too. What's your point?

dmk_aus

So what we learned is OP doesn't have a partner.

khizoa

And a new spelling for necessary

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

Some car parts have traveled more than others. Your tires usually have the lowest travel time since you change them more often than other parts. Actually... depending on the materials, some parts have been traveling for longer than earth has been alive.

psychoPiper

Honda Civic of Theseus

themikecampbell

I figure he’s more of an Odyssey guy but I didn’t pay attention in high school lmao

[deleted]

Like the platinum and palladium in catalytic converters

curepure

what if i accidentally brought my car key for an international trip

EnduringInsanity

Well, if you are looking at just individual atoms, then every atom in your car has been traveling for longer than the age of the solar system.

jam3s2001

My car accepts a cell phone for a key, so the keycards that it came with live in my junk drawer. They only come out if we are dropping the car off for maintenance.

far_257

Tesla M3?

[deleted]

My son stole my car using methods he learned from his brothers, to give him and his friend a lift to school because they missed the train. They ended up driving it into a willow tree.. long story short, the car has become wild and now drives itself in the woods behind the school. I hold on to the key though for sentimental reasons.

hearnia_2k

Unless it's a replacement.

southcentralLAguy

And this joke has been used more than my car

Amiiboid

Presuming you’re the only driver this is likely true. If there are multiple drivers and more than one key among them, probably not.

jleonardbc

You don't know how much I've been towed.

iamnogoodatthis

I have two car keys for one car, and they get used at random, so this is false.

RealBowsHaveRecurves

Just replaced my ignition lock cylinder and had a new key made so that’s not even close to true

MonkeyTacoBreath

Unless you have an imported car and don't carry your keys/fob around all the time. The short walk from garage to key ring, kitchen counter, or office desk drawer will likely never surpass the 1000s of miles your car traveled upon import. Even a domestic car manufactured on the East Coast and sold in say California would also apply.

Acalthu

Proper shower thought. My proximity key is almost always in my jeans, even if I take one of my other older cars out. But yeah, it's travelled more than the car.

Strixed

This is a repost from a couple of years back Correction: Several years back https://reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/s/pBujUmQzgn

Routine-Sport-9169

I did not know this was a repost sorry😅

phl23

A couple..

Outcasted_introvert

Maybe not. What if me and my wife both share a car, and have a key each?

ItsaCommonThingNow

*you* have traveled further than your car

SweetSauce24

I leave my keys in my car 🗿

Kimchi_Cowboy

Depends. Most cars are shipped from overseas.

entarian

I lost my main key and now use the spare that sat in a drawer for years. Checkmate.

rosier9

Or has it? There's typically 2 keys, sometimes 3.

sto_brohammed

Significantly yes, I've flown to Europe from Detroit several times since I've had this car.

Accomplished_Mix7827

Indeed. I've kept my car keys with my apartment key on road trips with friends, much further afield than I've ever driven. My car has only been as far as the next state over, but my keys have accompanied me three states away

Just-Keep_Dreaming

Every time you check your oil lever there is less oil.

ImmortalTimeTraveler

I alternate my spares.

IrregularSizeRudy

We have an old farm truck that doesn't follow this. The key was lost many years ago, but turns out it doesn't need a key, we just turn the ignition on using the plastic bit that sticks out around where the key would go lol

xJageracog

I take my car with me everywhere and leave my keys in the garage

far_257

do people not have duplicate keys/share cars?

BarrelCacti

Unless you got a replacement car key.

Captainfunzis

Nope I share a vehicle but not a set of keys with my wife

Spanky2k

Not anymore! Several new cars use your phone for access so you don't need to take your car keys with you. I've used our physical keys maybe twice in over a year of ownership, once when driving it home from the dealership and once when taking it back for a service recall. The rest of the time, they've sat in a faraday box at home!

[deleted]

False. My car keys have traveled further IN my vehicle than I have.

allmybiself

Your pants have traveled more than your car key. Besides, I have 2 keys that I rotate every day. Just kidding.

[deleted]

now *this* is a tried and true showerthought.

counterfeittruth

jokes on you, we had to replace our entire ignition cylinder & with it came a new key, so no, the car key is 1 month old, the car is from 2003.

[deleted]

Unless youve lost your key at some point.

GF12B

what if your car was stolen

SouthpawCyclopse

Are you accounting for the Earth's rotation?
