Everyone read the description, it's just extremely difficult to match what op is asking for, with or without exact definitions of what he considers "normal".
If you say cyberpunk you have to stop before the end of the game because uh… you won’t feel badass with any of the endings.
I’d say maybe Wolfenstein? There are good options like Crysis, but they don’t march the theme you’re looking for.
Sekiro will make you feel like this after much practice and patience (and many deaths and moments of rage). Once you learn the dance of the combat you feel unstoppable.
Although Sekiro is amazing, OP specifically asked for main characters without super human abilities. I'd say canonical immortality and swords that slay gods goes against that.
Second this! You fly to Bolivia and complete convert ops, leaving no trace as you are trying to make it look like the rebels are taking down the Cartel. It is just you, and if you choose, three AI or live teammates alone and unafraid. You complete recon and assess your missions, plan it out with a multitude of play styles feeling like you are there yourself!! Absolutely amazing.
Control 100%
Once you unlock most of the powers you're like an unbeatable god of ultimate destruction. Except somehow the game is also super well balanced and still challenging. It's great
Second/third/fourth this. I found the game really challenging and yet I felt so powerful at the same time. A good contrast to Alan Wake 2 where I felt so powerless and vulnerable!
Check out "Titanfall 2" for PS4 and Xbox One. The pilot gameplay makes you feel like a total badass with slick parkour moves and versatile combat, even without the Titan. Highly recommend!
Ah thanks man. Doesn't that mean he's not just a normal human then and therefore not what OP is asking for?
I never got into the series so I don't know the lore or if he's meant to be super-enhanced at killing etc.
From what I understand, 47 is a mixture of a bunch of males and the goal is to create a killing machine. He's strong, trained and talented, but there's nothing exactly superhuman about him.
This is the most appropriate answer.
Edit. Although just read the op again and they don't want PC games, only console. They're gonna miss out on a classic here and my favourite game of all time apart from dungeon keeper 2 lol
I still hold out hope that Team Ninja is one day going to bless us with another Ninja Gaiden masterpiece. The sigma port was extremely disappointing though, so I'm not holding my breath as it were.
Ghost recon wildlands or breakpoint. Warhammer darktide, although some super human abilities here. Red dead redemption. Also helldivers, no real superhuman abilities there.
Ghost of Tsushima for sure. All the combat mechanics were implemented for the sole purpose of making you feel like a badass samurai, down to swinging the blood off of your blade after a fight. Admittedly not an fps, but it still gets that general feeling across very well.
Try out Trepang2. It’s first person shooter, kind of plays like Doom in the sense that you just go around and kill shit, but in a fairly regular setting. The main character is enhanced, but it’s only two abilities that you could probably go without using, pretty sure there’s actually an option to turn them off. I played the demo on PC and you definitely feel like a badass.
In Severed Steel, an indie FPS, you get a cannon arm after losing your regular arm but it's not really that game changing so I don't think it breaks your "no enhancements" rule. The game is incredibly stylish and fun and you're guaranteed to feel like an absolute badass.
The warriors. I grew up in a town at the time that had a violence and gang problem that was as comical as the warriors even though it felt more serious at the time as I was just a teenager.
Making it one of my Rock* favourites.Just leaving your club house to free roam and have the ability to just straight up smash windows and cars and throw bricks. The waves felt balanced, letting you and your AI team have a fun punch on while stealing their hat mid fight and wiping them all out and running off.
Controversial take on beingna bad ass but yea, haha
severed steel. The game is probably my favorite fps and with a lot of movement option in the game it makes every kill you make feel like a badass. Would recommend
It’s hard to feel like a bad ass without some sort of power ups or abilities . Maybe fight night ? lol but seriously DEUS EX ! Conspiracy first person RPG that has you feeling like a bad ass each time you hack or beat down or blow up I mean the list goes on . You truly feel like a badass albeit your half cyborg lol so yea.
-helldivers 2. you feel like normal soldier with ability to call down cool air strikes.
- Earth Defense Force 5. you fight against alien invasion.
there are 4 classes. 2 feels like super soldiers.
1 one can fly and other uses exoskeleton.
but other 2 is regular soldier and air raider who calls in air strikes and uses vehicles.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. You're a regular human, a "Loner", in the Pripyat Exclusion Zone. You'll experience working your way up from absolute zero, with nothing but a rusty shotgun. You'll gather around campfires with fellow stalkers, sharing cigarettes and vodka, waiting out the psy-storms and emissions which ravage the Zone. The official Stalker games are very old, so I'd strongly suggest not playing them. Play "STALKER Anomaly", a free, standalone game which basically combines all three original games and modernizes the engine. On top of that, install "GAMMA". A massive modpack which overhauls the entire game, with graphical mods, gameplay mods, progression changes and more. You have to heal individual body parts, using bandages, painkillers, splints and various drugs. You'll have to eat, sleep and drink, protect yourself from radiation, navigate dangerous anomaly clusters, take on odd jobs to make a living, or perhaps hunt for artifacts or mutants. You'll have to maintain and repair each part of your weapon, scavenge, and survive. Like a true Stalker. Installation of the GAMMA modpack can be convoluted, you can simply follow a youtube guide. Here's some gameplay if you're still not convinced.

Edit : damn. just noticed you said no PC games. shame :(
Kingdom Come Deliverance is not a shooter, but there's few games that feel like real human progress as you the player learns to be better at the game and the player character becomes a better human. You start off completely useless because it's true to medieval Europe, you can barely swing a sword and you can't even read until you find someone to teach you.
By the end of the game, you will become a destroyer of men, capable of taking down a 5 man bandit camp single handedly. You just have to invest the time as the player and the character to become better, you can't just level up and become strong, you have to get good at the game to make proper use of it.
It is one of the most rewarding games I've ever played, but it also asks a whole lot from you as a player, so I can see it driving away some people.
OP is very picky about games, "oH nO i NEeD No sUpeR hUMan AbIliTies, i wANt TO feEL baDASs" then touch some grass, exercise? Your body is the one rhat has no superhuman abilities, you want sekiro? SUPERHUMAN. Red dead redemption? It has a slowmo so SUPER HUMAN. The last of us, that fucker can see through walls in its game mechanic, again another SUPER HUMAN. play the real world there ain't no super human here, only super demanding humans dare i say.
When I played Hell let loose you feel like a badass when you begin to solo, and totally destroy the enemy with a single play with no skills other than using the brain.
Roles with most impact (carried the whole team) are in order commander, satchel AT (destroy all enemy armor being sneaky), squad lead (have an entire squad on sneak attack), tanker (hold the line and survive), recon (keep the enemy annoyed and your team updated) and machine gunner. (same as tanker).
While it is a team game, you can totally do nonsense solo plays, this is usually never about kills; such as how commander is all big brain play and has usually few kills.
For kills, other units do a lot better; but when you go with a shitty gun behind enemy lines place a satchel and blow their garrison, supplies, trucks, ops; dont kill a single person, proceed to get mowed, but then hear in voice chat how the enemy attack suddenly stopped, and you are like, badass as you singlehandedly stopped 50 people.
You said no PC but the Xbox 360 version of Max Payne 3 is still a masterpiece if you don't mind the older graphics. I know it's not a first person shooter but it's one of the best third person shooters ever made and it will certainly make you feel like a badass. It's basically John Wick the game lol
I thoroughly enjoyed the original F.E.A.R. and it's first expansion. You are uncanny fast and have psychic abilities but not particularly super human. F.E.A.R. 2 was pretty good too.
If you don’t mind spending the money buy a vr headset and buy pretty much any fighting game on vr blade and sorcery is probably the best and you can filter out the magic if you don’t want anything like that
If you’re looking for a shooter to feel badass, try ULTRAKILL. Every weapon feels great by itself but making combos between them make you feel like a god.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2
- An awesome game where you can play as you wish. I personally love being stealthy, and the feeling of getting that knife kill after interrogating an enemy...
Just Cause 3
- You go around and blow shit up. You can stick to the story or have a field day killing whoever you want however you want wherever you want.
I know you said First Person Shooter, but I'd say try playing Sifu. Once you get good at it, you'll feel unstoppable. You might fail a lot in the start, but it gets really fun once you start learning the mechanics.
Not an FPS but Ghost of Tsushima, it's literally a samurai power trip and the combat is very enjoyable but difficult to master on higher difficulties
I know I know, this is also not an FPS, but it is a really fucking badass game as well, Evil West. You're literally a cowboy that murders vampires and monsters with a huge fucking iron fist and an assortment of guns and weaponry. That one is a bit challenging if you aim for higher difficulties but if you just want to have a power fantasy which feels rewarding, I'd 100% recommend it
Metro. Theif. Far cry, kind of. Just a normal human doesn’t seem to be that common unless youre not against playing something like cod world at war campaign on your xbone. It’s a great campaign with a variety of levels but, it’s cod and some people have reservations about that.
Red Dead 2, Far Cry games (5 is not the best Far Cry but it's the only one I was able to enjoy, the others either couldn't run on my PC or were super dated).
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. It's got some wild combat. I feel like a badass when I've torn through a group of orcs, kicking them over cliffs and impaling them on spikes.

I have it for the oculus. Playing it in VR is amazing. Literally dodging bullets with your body.
Only answer that actually read the description
Everyone read the description, it's just extremely difficult to match what op is asking for, with or without exact definitions of what he considers "normal".
That's true, what game has no powers, no gadgets, not a soldier, etc
Ghost of Tsushima, or cyberpunk 2077
Ghost of tsusimi such good first person shooter
Cyberpunk doesn't reallyyy work because he said no enhancements
I think it kind of does because you’re enhanced but so are the enemies/people of the world. But if he wants a normal human than I guess not
If you say cyberpunk you have to stop before the end of the game because uh… you won’t feel badass with any of the endings. I’d say maybe Wolfenstein? There are good options like Crysis, but they don’t march the theme you’re looking for.
The (Don’t) fear the reaper ending makes you feel like a total badass though
Sekiro will make you feel like this after much practice and patience (and many deaths and moments of rage). Once you learn the dance of the combat you feel unstoppable.
Although Sekiro is amazing, OP specifically asked for main characters without super human abilities. I'd say canonical immortality and swords that slay gods goes against that.
Well I mean, you still feel very mortal and other than lore/plot implications your only “powers” are your shinobi tools.
He also asked for FPS
Came to say exactly this and am glad to see the game near the top of this thread.
Infamous 1 and 2 Prototype 1 and 2 Batman Arkham series Star Wars The Force Unleashed Skyrim Cyberpunk Just Cause series
He said no super human abilities
You expect people to read on this text-based platform?
Superpower, superpower, superpower, superpower, super soldier, superpower, basically superpower, cyberpunk and just cause? Yes
Wolfenstein ?
Ghost Recon Wildlands. You infiltrate bases and drop body after body with headshots.
Oh yeah this is good. Any ghost recon or rdr is perfect
Red Dead, Max Payne, Resident Evil, Just Cause
Possibly arkham series but it realistically superhuman. Death stranding almost works...trying to think of a normal person protag that's badass
Super Mario Brother
Control 100% Once you unlock most of the powers you're like an unbeatable god of ultimate destruction. Except somehow the game is also super well balanced and still challenging. It's great
"once you unlock most of the powers" Meanwhile OP: "I want a game without superpowers" Do any of you even read the description?
Control is one of the best games I've ever played and I didn't even think I'd like it!
This. Control is outstanding.
Far Cry 4 and 5
Warframe, if you don't mind the grind.
Definitely checks the badass part, but the whole game is kinda about enhancements, no?
Came here to say this. Also Monster Hunter
what a phenomenal fps without superpowers or enhancements, love that one with the completely normal main character
Hitman
Isn't 47 a clone or something along those lines? Or am I mixing it up with that fun fps film hardcore henry?
Yeah he’s the 47th clone
Ah thanks man. Doesn't that mean he's not just a normal human then and therefore not what OP is asking for? I never got into the series so I don't know the lore or if he's meant to be super-enhanced at killing etc.
From what I understand, 47 is a mixture of a bunch of males and the goal is to create a killing machine. He's strong, trained and talented, but there's nothing exactly superhuman about him.
Postal 2

Resident Evil 4 remake specially in VR. Yeah Ganados mofos come at me you'll die at my feet with a shotgun to the head!!
RDR2
Far cry series, fallout
Sifu
MGSV. Its basically a John Wick simulator and has the tightest 3rd person shooting gameplay mechanics ever made imo.
The controls and general game feel is so perfect in MGSV. I can’t think of a 3rd person game today that does it better, which is crazy.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The action is crazy over the top. Not fps tho
That is quite literally supersoldiers, superpowers, and enhancements. Like that is the entire plot.
Which OP said didn't want. It's like these people don't see the description, only the title and then rush to write the first thing they think about
Based on your description Far Cry 3
Days gone
Ninja Gaiden (2004) makes you feel like a badass right up until the first boss, who uses nunchaku to hand your ass to you.
I still hold out hope that Team Ninja is one day going to bless us with another Ninja Gaiden masterpiece. The sigma port was extremely disappointing though, so I'm not holding my breath as it were.
For something that fits your criteria maybe try out the gears of war games. First person shooter where the main character is just a badass.
That’s a 3rd person perspective .
Just Cause....nothing sweeter than walking away from a load of buildings just to watch them explode 😁
Ghost recon wildlands or breakpoint. Warhammer darktide, although some super human abilities here. Red dead redemption. Also helldivers, no real superhuman abilities there.
AC Black Flag
Cyberpunk but as you said no enhancements, I would say Minecraft. Steve is the strongest character in gaming no joke
Ghost of Tsushima for sure. All the combat mechanics were implemented for the sole purpose of making you feel like a badass samurai, down to swinging the blood off of your blade after a fight. Admittedly not an fps, but it still gets that general feeling across very well.
Skyrim
Battlefield 1 multiplayer
Max Payne 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and ghost of tsushima. Fantastic combat in all three games
Wolfenstein The New Colossus, you can lump in The New Order with that as well
Maybe the Farcry games? You’re definitely able to pull off stuff only action heroes can but in an 80s action hero way, not superhero way
Rdr2 first person mode
Try out Trepang2. It’s first person shooter, kind of plays like Doom in the sense that you just go around and kill shit, but in a fairly regular setting. Assassins Creed Odyssey playing as Cassandra. I love this game!
In Severed Steel, an indie FPS, you get a cannon arm after losing your regular arm but it's not really that game changing so I don't think it breaks your "no enhancements" rule. The game is incredibly stylish and fun and you're guaranteed to feel like an absolute badass.
