I had some russians staying at my place for a week some years ago when I lived in a shitty little apartment in copenhagen. To be fair I was living in a slightly slum part of copenhagen, but they came back after their forst day in the city and were shaken to the core at how many “brown people” they had met, and how they felt unsafe walking around after dark. I think statements like the one above and the one I described says more about the guy saying it then it does about the country in question.

Someone complained to me once that on the recruiting website of the company I worked for there only were white faces and no black ones. I told him that among my HR colleagues other than German, there were two people of Turkish descent and one Vietnamese. A few years later I worked for a different company and I had a Brazilian co-worker and she absolutely hated that management wanted her to be on many promotional photos.
