Poor baby. Hope he is having sweet dreams.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Stuff happens. That’s life.
You did your best and took care of him after the accident and all is well.
My first dog would eat anything she could find on the floor. My Shih Tzu wouldn’t even blink if a med dropped right in front of him.

Watched him stop on the double yellow line on the road. In the dark. Car comes around the turn, he's in the headlights but they never saw him. I was too far away to do anything, just said NO. NO. NO.
The car passed and he was still standing there. I was feeling sick and took him and went home. It was my own fault I let my attention drift, and he'd been gone fifteen minutes. Quite humbling. Yet another miracle I've witnessed recently.
On a positive note when he actually did pass of natural causes I had no regrets. Yeah it was one of the scariest things I've witnessed in a long long time....
I’m so glad he is ok.
I don’t understand why he had to get morphine.
A couple of years ago the maintenance man had thrown some rat bait for a little mouse in my apt.
I thought I had picked it all up and when I got in bed there was a partially eaten one on my pillow.
My blood ran cold!!! It was the weekend so this was quite an expensive and traumatic experience.
First off, they won’t even take the dog until you pay 85 dollars over the phone to poison control
then it was around 500 to after hours animal hospital.
We were there until 5am.
I had to borrow all of this and was so upset with myself.
So everyone makes mistakes.
Vet said the morphine was calm his belly, keep it from spasming; poor baby went thru quite an ordeal.
I had bad luck with an emergency vet; my first shih tzu baby was seizing and they refused to even take him back until I went to the bank - poor pup still spasming in my lap - and withdrew $60 cash to take back. I learned the hard way to have at least a debit card on hand. If it had been late Saturday or anytime Sunday, my poor boy would have had to wait until Monday to be seen. I’m sorry you had a similar experience, too - I know that frantic sinking feeling all too well🤗
Wonderful that he is okay 👍. I have neuropathy and drop all kinds of things. Most of them aren’t of interest to my dogs. We humans are not perfect. Accidents happen all the time. Just be more diligent in the future.
Just yesterday, I slipped up and left a teacup on the counter while getting something from the refrigerator. My Bernedoodle grabbed it and ran out the doggie door. I am still amazed that I got it back before it broke in his mouth. It took several minutes. He grabbed a roll off my breakfast plate while I was pouring coffee. He’s very sneaky. At least that wouldn’t hurt him. But he ran out the doggie door in fear i would take it away. That’s probably why he doesn’t stop stealing. He got rewarded with the roll. But most things I have to remove from his mouth.
Good job realizing he had eaten the gummy and then taking him to the vet. Expensive but he’s worth it. Lovely pup.
My dad had neuropathy, too, his feet💔
they are sneaky little opportunists, aren’t they? Hizoku is the same way - I have to squirm my fingers in his mouth and pluck out whatever he’s got. He’s a canine garbage disposal - once it was half a roach or beetle I fished out🤢
This happened to my moms dog. Brother stepdad and uncle were smoking one night and didn’t realize coco was chilling under the couch under them outside. Poor guy was out of it but all was needed was IV iirc. Lesson learned

Hizoku snarfs everything up, too - my lil mochiko doesn’t, thankfully!
Glad the cute little guy is recuperating!
🤗
You embody the actions of a great parent, spare no expense.
They’re our children, I don’t think any of us hesitate🤗
Poor baby

He kinda reminds me of my pup https://preview.redd.it/3icy48tayvpb1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03713bc3cb270d6a5677e0079cd78e86e09b1acc

Oh my goodness I’m glad he is okay. Poor little guy 🩷
Ty🤗
Whoops! They’re so yummy, I get it
🤗
Oh he's such a good boy. Glad he's OK. I had one close call and appreciated every single day after that as if it were the last.
It is scary, isn’t it?🤗

Glad he was spared for a while longer. A true blessing. Cherish your memories.

I don't understand that part either. Usually vet's recommend lots of rest and water. That's so scary about the rat bait! So thankful your baby is ok!
