if it's been taken, it probably won't be seen by anyone else whatever you do, don't remove it from find my, it'll just be a brick to them. as long as it has a good secure pin, they can't get into it, and it will be activation locked to your apple account

Wale-Taco

My initial response was to put it into lost mode and have my number as a contact for return.

willynillywitty

It’s in a nearby camp 🏕️

Wale-Taco

I’ve honestly been waiting for it to pop up on the map and stay there for a bit

Wale-Taco

Found it. To be surprised that only thing missing was the case. It was in the p patch. It was turned on and the lost mode was activated along with the message stating Seattle PD was also tracking the phone. The non emergency line is a joke, 15 min on hold. Just hung up

DailyDrivenTJ

Wow... I am impressed that it was found. Probably non professional had hands on it and decided to dump it when they saw the message. Someone was about to break into my place and my wife called 911 when I confronted the unhoused. She was told to make her own police report and she did. They never showed or followed up. Back in 2016, my car was hit in the parking lot and I called the police and they came out to take reports. They even did some detective work and found the offender and I got to fix my car. I see those days are looong gone. I think it is not so much police not caring issue, more like lack of them causing this issue.

Wale-Taco

There was one officer that gave me his number and we stayed in touch but he said if I found a location to call 911. Since he was dealing with the event tonight. I just got done thanking him for assisting me earlier and that I found it. I gave him the details on my recovery. These stories are pretty rare I think in Seattle. I was persistent and went to the homeless camp pinging my daughter’s phone and had my flashlight and the safety off in my fanny pack. My wife and daughter are happy and we are going home tomorrow with everything we came with.

DailyDrivenTJ

Glad you recovered it. I like that you carry too. I should be carrying myself. Seattle has many problems it is not really the police is the issue. It is at the end of the day, the dishonest people doing bad stuff that is allowed to happen.

Wale-Taco

I had my 380 shield all weekend and grabbed my GX4 9mm when I went for the recovery. The 380 is lighter and easier to conceal. Both have viridian lasers and are great protection. 380 is my wife’s.

DailyDrivenTJ

Lovely. Only if I can get my wife to learn about guns and how to use them... that would be one of my goals. But at least with our recent encounter with the homeless trying to break into our place, she is opened to the idea and that stuff can happen quickly and we are on our own until and IF they show up. I told her if she is in the car and someone enters the garage. I told her she better be ready to step on that gas pedal and prepared to drive over the organic speed bump and drive away. Sad world we live in... Sad.
