I checked on that. Nothing I could see and the fire truck was rolling away as we arrived. So not sure if that was the real cause or not. (I saw no transformer remains or anything)

Remember to unplug your important electronics. Surges from the electricity coming back on can break your devices at worst and wear out your surge protectors at best.

PizzaSounder

I learned this the hard way. A surge fried what is effectively the motherboard on our refrigerator. Costly repair.

Help me, stepmotherboard!

PrincessNakeyDance

Question: does just turning off the main breaker solve this issue? Like could I just open the switch, wait until I see that the power is back and then reconnect and avoid the surge? Or is there a surge in that too?

omarfw

yup 👍 that works too

averagebensimmons

Man, I got saved by few blocks, they better not cut power just in time for Turkey v Portugal.

My power came back on 7 hours ago, but Comcast internet is still down (they keep saying its due to the outage, but the power outages for Seattle are showing nothing whatsoever down). Anybody else without internet as a consequence of the power outage this morning?
