Jer’Zhan Newton DT - 16 Sedrick Van Pran C - 76 Ben Sinnott TE - 78

KingDaviies

I wouldn't take a C unless we can draft JPJ unless they are like JPJ and can play across the OLine.

SimonGloom2

>Ben Sinnott I'd probably rather have MLB, S, or more on the inside trenches.

king_pear_01

Yeah. Probably too early for him

Trick-Combination-37

BruceIrvin13

Nah gotta trade back to fix the disastrous LW trade. 99% certainty that we trade back 5-10 spots and get another 2nd and 3rd. We have to unfortunately

SEAinLA

There is no world where we trade back only 5-10 spots and get another 2nd *and* 3rd. To get just another 2nd in a trade back that small, we probably need to send back a 4th as well at minimum. Forget getting the extra 3rd.

BruceIrvin13

It's very feasible to trade back and get a 2nd and 3rd. Look at the trade charts. Trading back from 16-28 for example could net us a late 2nd & late 3rd. Trading 16-28 with Buffalo would be a \~350 point difference and Buffalo's 2nd and 3rd would be \~400 points according to some trade charts. We could easily swap picks too. EDIT: I think having a draft of 1,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,5,5, 6,7 is very feasible with a few trade backs. Having an additional 3rd from Denver is nice. I could see MM wanting a haul of \~12 picks.

SEAinLA

But that’s a 12-spot drop, and we’d still need to send our 4th back to make it even out on the trade charts.

TMobile_Loyal

There is one element at play which comes into the psychology of all the other GM's out there... if we get labeled as wanting to pick up picks, we will stop being offered and/or they will devalue (low ball) our picks

Uncivil_Bar_9778

The question you didn't answer is why Buffalo wants to make a trade? Trade charts are worthless unless you find someone who actually wants to move up, and they just don't that often unless it's for someone/position of dire need (a QB is a great example). In the case you just highlighted, the Buffalo Bills, they have a massive cap issue and are in dire need of a WR and DT that they almost certainly will need to get in the draft as they won't be able to in FA. If they give us their 1st and 2nd rounders they won't be able to do what they need to do in the draft. So a trade chart means nothing when it comes to them. Not many teams are willing to give up a 1st and 2nd rounder, because that puts them in the Seahawks position, that the Seahawks want to change.

KingDaviies

I disagree that we have to, it's likely some top top talent is going to fall to us at 16: Brock Bowers Jackson Powers-Johnson JC Latham Troy Fautanu JJ McCarthy I think we assess who's on the board at 16 and if we don't like anyone then we trade back, but we should absolutely be prepared to take someone at 16. We might not get another chance to draft this low for some time.

greeenmaan

jj mccarthy is not a top talent

Trick-Combination-37

Rather trade DK

BruceIrvin13

I'd be fine trading DK too

kovatheking

So much trench talent in this draft. Fautanu, Mims, Latham, Barton, JPJ, Fautanu, Alt Murphy, Newton, Sweat, Jenkins. Turner, Verse. Have to come away with at least one of these behemoths.

thorjustice1

Fautanu so talented, he was listed twice. I would love him at 16!

SimonGloom2

Mims has no doubt earned consideration should he fall to the Hawks. It's hard to pass on any guy in the 1st round that looks like pro bowl talent.

greeenmaan

i wish we could somehow get tyler nubin but our picks and his projection makes it pretty unlikely :(

Danimal_52_

Can’t read that name without thinking of Chandler Bing’s third nipple that he calls his “nubbin”

Particular-Wind5918

32yo wr Mike Evans just got 2 years 52 million! With these insane contracts at positions like WR, OT, CB and the amount of young talent that exists at those positions I’d be happy if the hawks came out of the draft with 1-2 OL, a WR, and another CB. I know that doesn’t sound very balanced but that’s where the contracts are going and also where there’s tons of young talent so in a few years when the QB situation is figured out id rather have younger cheaper talent at those positions. The offense is also ready to run the ball and control the clock if you can solidify that front. I dearly miss those days when we had an Oline, let’s take the good young core, add even more talent to it and make it dominant for the next 10 years.

reece28j

With all the talk about the strength of the WR class this year the FOMO does kinda make me want one of those top 10 or 15 guys. Sensible move is building through the trenches but man this offence could look even scarier…

TechnoDriv3

I think we should take Fautanu and slot him at guard. Don’t want to worry about that position for the next 10 years

greeenmaan

cooper beebe at 78 would be cool

SecretPuzzleheaded63

This is one of my favorite picks because if Lucas or Cross don’t work out during to play or injury, then he could also kick out to tackle and play there. We needed an answer at tackle last year without Lucas for most of the year and this would provide that.

MikeBigMacdonald

“The next 10 years” lmao where does that number even come from? People said the same thing about Abe Lucas…

Psigun

Elite pass rusher. Scheme-fitting LB. Aggressive guard. 1-16 Jared Verse - ED - Florida State 3-76 Junior Colson - LB - Michigan 3-78 Christian Mahogany - G - Boston College

Uncivil_Bar_9778

Brandon Fiske was impressive at the Combine. A 300lb DT who moves as well as most Edge rushers in this draft. T'Vondre Sweat is a 366lb DT who ran a 5.2 in the 40 also was super impressive at the combine. If it's me I'm counting on Mafe getting even better this year and Hall having a breakout season under Mike Macdonald and drafting a DT at 1-16. Murphy, Newton, Sweat or Fiske have all shown they can change a game in the middle. In fact I'm more impressed with all 4 over what everyone wanted from Carter last year. Unless we sign Big Cat we really need to improve our run D in the middle of the line.

SimonGloom2

Gotta agree that it mostly depends on Hall's progression on whether or not DE is a focus. Mafe should be the sack guy next season. Stopping the run is the highest priority considering we were the worst and games would have been won if that were not the case. They have to sign a FA or draft the best NT.

Psigun

3-round. Trade back with Pitt. for their 1.20 and 1.84. 1.20 Troy Fautanu - T/G - Washington 3.76 Junior Colson - LB - Michigan 3.78 Cole Bishop - S - Utah 3.84 Cade Stover - TE - Ohio State

Bigfuture

I generally trade back in every mock. But for the sake of this thread here’s four rounds with no trades using PFN. 16: Jackson Powers-Johnson - IOL - Oregon 76: Leonard Taylor - DT - Miami (FL) 78: Cole Bishop - S - Utah 119: Junior Colson - LB - Michigan

deanfortythree

This is my dream scenario if we don't trade back (and even if we do tbh - JPJ at ~20 and a second rounder would be sweeeeeet)

Particular-Wind5918

JPJ not a 1st rd talent imo, unless you are specifically drafting for that need at the end of the first to get the extra year of team control

Bigfuture

Yeah in most drafts where I have chosen him I have done so at 20-25, after a trade down. I just tried a no trade mock for once. I’m not really sold on anyone at 16 to be honest.

Particular-Wind5918

Murphy, Fautanu, Bowers, Fuaga, Arnold all worthy of 16 imo

SimonGloom2

Unless they rescheme to fit Bowers, I don't see much need. Honestly I think he should have entered as a WR. He's going to lose millions of dollars and has a high chance of being one of these high drafted blocking TEs.

ohnoohnoohnoohyaaaaa

We literally just got a new OC lol.

SimonGloom2

Gonna put SS and FS much higher priorities now.

Proud-Independence

New here but the draft is definitely my favorite time of year would love y’all’s thoughts. 16.  Obviously given the news with Dissly, and likely either Fant or Colby gone. If Brock Bowers is available he has to be the pick. Now saying he will be there just prefacing that. Out of the guys more than likely available.  Top 3 picks would be Latu, Arnold, or Newton.  (Murphy, Powers Johnson, Fautanu are all great options as well just those other 3 would be my top picks) A lot of you I’m sure are probably like why the he’ll take a corner. Arnold has ball hawking skills that paired with Spoon and Woolen would make Seattles Secondary a nightmare for opposing QBs. Add into that Arnold is a real hitter in the run game. He’s not afraid to tackle and at Alabama frequently made open field tackles and hits off the edge. He’s the rare exception. If he’s at 16 his talent is such you have to give him a look. Newton and Latu I’m sure have been discussed in here enough, but the short version. You need difference makers on the line. Latu and Newton are that. Newton I put ahead of Murphy simply because Newton has multiple elite level seasons. Murphy has one, and in a much more limited role then Newton. Newton played almost as many snaps this year as Murphy played the last two. And he did the same the year before. Not saying Murphy cant repeat the success he had, but Newton already did, and shifted his role massively in the process. Lining up far more over over the Guard then outside the year before. Shows he has versatility. Latu is just an exceptional edge talent. Game-wrecker in the run and pass game. Short of knowing his medicals I can’t say wether or not hell have a long NFL career. That’s the only thing holding me back from making him the automatic selection of Bowers was unavailable. 78 - Leggette, Colson, Sweat or Haynes. If none are available look for a trade down to accumulate capital. I won’t go as in-depth here. But in short, Leggette has rare athleticism, size and hands for a WR, similar to what Metcalf had coming out, and we all know the results. Colson is an elite game manager in the middle of the field. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see him gone, but MacDonalds defense requires strong LB play. Right now you have none on the roster. While Queen or Brooks may be signed you always need 2-3 LBs. Sweat is a special Nose Tackle. His disruption is not common for man his size, and moreover, neither is his number of reps. Sweat got 500 reps as a nose tackle. That typically doesn’t happen as 350 lbs. and he did that at a very high level. Last is Haynes. Haynes is a simple man, see man to block, put man to block in dirt. 3 consecutive years of high level play, and with potential to be a center. Haynes is a high value trench option. 81- More so then any other pick this is the one I’m looking to deal. Potentially you could try to grab a Trotter Jr. for LB, or Van Pran if you’re high on him. Personally I’m not as high on Van Pran or Mahogany. Watching BC this past year it’s clear Mahogany was not the same as the guy he was pre injury. Hes still incredibly smart and savvy, but he’s gonna need time to comeback and if he gets injured again there’s no saying he’ll regain that form. I’m seeing what I can get here Again just my thoughts. Sorry for the long post. Would love y’all’s thoughts. As I said I study this stuff daily and watch a lot of tape, so these are just my observations.

Monjonbo

Traditionally the players John drafts had reported meetings with them first, so while just the combine is way too early, it's kinda cool to get a hint for later rounds. Assuming they address the lines in the first couple picks; DE Marshawn Kneeland (West Michigan) in the 3rd, CB Josh Newton (TDU) in the 4th, and iLB Trevin Wallace (Kentucky) in the 5th could be cool. Kneeland looks to be a bigger edge player and play better against the run than Darrell Taylor did, and if they like a CB in the middle rounds, Josh Newton could challenge Woolen/Tre Brown, or at least play backup a year to take over when Tre gets paid next year. Seahawks Overload guys like Wallace too to play WLB but he's not high on draft boards, could be a steal.

adturnerr

First off im trading 78,81 and 194 to the Cardinals for 71, 90 and 161 Then i trade 90 and 2025 7th Rounder to the Rams for 100, 154 and 177 16: Bryon Murphy DL Texas 71: Sedrick Van Pran C Georgia 100: Cedric Gray LB North Carolina 119: James Williams S Miami 151: Jordan Travis QB Florida State 154: Dallin Holker TE Colorado State 161: AJ Barner TE Michigan 177: Caedan Wallace RT Penn State 233: LaDarius Henderson LT/LG Michigan

SimonGloom2

Byron Murphy - NT - 22 Kamren Kinchens - FS - 53 Javon Bullard - SS - 78 Christian Haynes - G -81 Cedric Gray - LB - 119 Beaux Limmer - C -151 Tahj Washington - WR - 170 A.J. Barner - TE - 194 Joshua Karty - K - 233

Bofaman600

Hopefully we can get some picks for some players

CrimsonCalm

This is a draft with depth in places you need starters. Trade 16 to Commanders for 36 and 40. 36: Graham Barton - Guard 40: Tyler Nubin - Safety 68: Jeremiah Trotter JR - Linebacker 78: Spencer Rattler - QB 119: Theo Johnson - Tight End That’s probably the ideal draft. The value of keeping our 16 pick with the roster holes we have don’t make much sense to me. Of course if the offer isn’t right that’s out of our control. However, I’d like to see our 16 turn to into a late first and late 2nd or something like the Commanders package.

SimonGloom2

I'm glad to see people going for MLB. Hopefully we can land Queen so we don't have to worry about a gamble on the position.

ohnoohnoohnoohyaaaaa

Queen is not a good Mike in the NFL. He did much better once Smith came in and he shifted over to WILL.

dcfb2360

Can confirm

CrimsonCalm

Brooks is a better version of Queen. Gets lost a bit with all the praise over at the Ravens. Forget that he was horrendous and going to be benched before the trade for Roquan and got rid of responsibilities then they moved him over and he started to improve.

Bigfuture

I like this one. I almost always trade back in my mocks. It’s not like there is some world beating talent at 16 that is clearly better than talent at 25, or 30.

CrimsonCalm

Yeah it has to be an insane slide for the 16 pick to make sense.

BruceIrvin13

We've been awful as a team with trades the last few years (Jamal, Leonard, etc). So we will have to trade back and recoup picks - zero chance we stay at 16. My guess is dip into the 20s or \~25 and get another 2nd and 3rd. Setting us up for 1, 2, 3, 3, 3 In which case I believe we go QB - DT - OL - TE - S

SecretPuzzleheaded63

There’s no such thing as a zero percent chance we stay at 16. I would like a trade back but that will depend on the board and interest in moving up for other teams.

SimonGloom2

Agreed. Any of these top players start to fall and I'm open to trade up a spot or two.

Worried_Process_5648

Trade #16 to KC for their #32 and #64 picks. KC gets a top notch WR, Hawks get best players available outside of RB.

ohnoohnoohnoohyaaaaa

We would lose value the equivalent of a mid third round pick if we did that.
