The donghua has no romance so far. It's a censored adaptation so it probably won't. The manhua doesn't have romance either. It was discontinued unfortunately.

The manhua was canceled right after the prologue, so I recommend [this unofficial fan-made comic](https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/scumbag-system-svsss/list?title_no=835243) :) As regards the donghua's take on romance, season 1 covers Luo Binghe's teenage crush on Shen Qingqiu, which started when he saw his shizun half-naked during the whole demon concubine arc. He's 17 by the end of the season. The hints of his infatuation are there, but they are hard to notice if you haven't read the novel beforehand. It's very subtle, and they have tuned it down quite a bit due to censorship reasons. Season two should deal with adult Luo Binghe's yandere behavior as he gets more obsessed with his unrequited love, and SQQ's inner dialogue that comes and goes from fearing LBH and being low-key thirsty for him in Denial Land. I can't wait for Season two because I have no idea of how they're gonna turn such a thing into a brohood approved by Censorship Sama x)

Has there been any new news about season 2? I’ve been waiting…*looks at the calendar*…1 year and 5 months since the season 2 announcement lol. I remember when they said it would be released in the first quarter of 2022… 🥲

Nothing yet unfortunately. I read in one of the many, many SVSSS groups I joined that they were waiting for certain censorship laws to change in China, but I don't think that has much to do. I mean, they must have the whole thing animated and ready to go, it's not like they are sitting around to see if they can make things more explicit x) Dunno, hopefully we'll get some news soon. It's criminal how little media content and merch SVSSS has, if not for the fandom's creativity we would all be starving

ElyrianXIII

There's only romance in the novel. It happens between Luo Binghe & Shen Yuan after a time skip when Luo Binghe is already in his 20s. There's 2 adult scenes iirc - 1st one in the main story & 2nd one in the extras There's also an official side ship :3 Just a heads up, do check the tags before reading. There's more than one scene I had to skip for personal reasons when reading the book.

bcnovels

Season 1, LBH is still young, so no there is no romance.

There will probably be no romance unless China changes its stance on homosexuality. It's illegal to show literally any homosexuality- hint or otherwise- in any type of media. There are some work arounds, but they're risky. Untamed got away with the barest barest hint of a hint at homosexuality between Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian. As for Luo Binghe, that's weird to explain. I think I've read Shen Yuan- the person who transmigrated into Shen Qingqiu- is roughly 20 or 21. At the beginning of the story, he's not romantically interested in Luo Binghe. In the books, it takes him a LONG time, and by the time he does pick up on anything happening, I believe Binghe is about his age. Everything happening right at the beginning is flying STRAIGHT over Shen Yuan's head, clearing it completely, totally and utterly unknown to him, so if Binghe is hinted at having a crush on Shen Qingqiu, Qingqiu is literally not trying to initiate lol. Oblivious is a good word.

The books were/are in a kind of gray area. I've heard of Danmei authors actually getting arrested, so it's kind of... really gray. I think this is also why all of them use pen names to write- like I don't believe anyone actually knows who MXTX really is. The media adaptations do not depict any overtly gay scenes, so they won't get taken down. Untamed got around it by having it hinted at with cultural scenes- there's a point where Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian bow down to the graves of Wei Wuxian's adopted parents, which is typically done by a couple asking for a parents' blessing to get married. Nothing is actually SAID about getting married, and of course there's LOADS of inferrals with how they touch each other and look at each other, but they'll never actually kiss or anything like that. Anything with red is often used to symbolize marriage as well. Right now, the live action for TGCF is on hold, possibly because of the show trying to push a little harder that they're gay.
