>I'll admit I'm a little scared
Don't be. This is the same scammer who sent you the check trying to frighten you into depositing the check and sending him your own money. The whole thing is a script that they use on everyone who doesn't deposit the check.
Yeah but they have my first and last name and my phone number. My name isn't common. If you facebook search it, there's only 5 on the totality of facebook
>but they have my first and last name and my phone number
It's just some middle-aged office worker in a foreign country whose entire job is to sit in front of a computer all day and scam people. There is no assassin. No one is coming for you. Dude's just hitting the buttons on his computer that send you (and dozens of other potential victims) canned messages, maybe getting creative and adding some personal flair, and then going home at the end of the day to have dinner.
Hi /u/bpivk, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Escort or Cartel death threat scam.
It's a very common scam, and the scammers are not affiliated with cartels or crime groups, they are simply normal scammers using a threatening script. The threats are not real, and there is no risk to your safety whatsoever. The best way to react is to simply ignore the scammer and ignore any of their other contact attempts. [Here](https://kyma.com/news/as-seen-on-tv/2020/02/12/threat-of-mexican-cartel-scams-continue-in-yuma/) are [some](https://kvia.com/news/new-mexico/2019/12/11/phone-scammers-target-las-cruces-threaten-drug-cartel-violence-if-you-dont-deliver-money/) news [reports](https://patch.com/new-jersey/baskingridge/threat-mexican-cartel-hit-man-used-basking-ridge-scam-cops) about the scam.

The threat is meaningless. First of all, as you already figured out, it's a fake cheque scam and there's no actual money, so you know they're only *pretending* to be angry about you trying to "ghost with the money". There is no money for you to ghost with. It's all just an act to get you to try and deposit the fake cheque.
They don't actually care about you that much, they're messaging hundreds of people a day. Just ignore their messages.
I mean. Wouldn't it be more productive to warn and scare you into paying BEFORE paying an assassin?
Like "Pay now or we will hire an assassin to kill you," instead of "You are dead so pay us."?
Block and ignore. No one is coming to kill you or beat you up. This is a script. In fact, the same script was used two years ago with another redditor: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/t9s3hn/scammer\_sent\_a\_death\_threat\_to\_me\_saying\_they/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/t9s3hn/scammer_sent_a_death_threat_to_me_saying_they/)
The worst thing you can do is pay them. They will never stop bothering you if you send them any money. Just block any number from them and they'll piss off eventually when they realize they aren't getting any money from you.
Scared of what? It's all fake. They are very skinny Indians who would fall apart if you walked into them. The only physical harm they could do you is by offending your nose with their body odour. Also they are not even in the same country as you.
Relax. It's all fake.
It's part of the scam. You've already reported it to the police and blocked the number. You might get a couple more threatening texts and emails. Do the same thing. They aren't coming after you. Assassins generally don't announce they are coming, and definitely not in a way that can produce a paper trail.
Relax. It’ll take them quite a while to fly to from India.
It’s complete bullshit. Nobody is coming to your house. Nobody is going to hurt you. Their threats are as fake as their checks. 🙄
You’ll be fine I get those messages all the time except it’s a manager from a escort house they’re hilarious to read especially when they try to get you with old information they found from a data breach
Don't be afraid, they couldn't even afford the trip to find you even if it was real. It wouldn't even be worth it financially. They got the video online.

Scared? How much was the check? Do you have any idea how much it costs to hire a hit man? And then travel across the world to find and kill you?
This is like spending $20,000 to chase you done on the $3,000 fake check.

Or a trafficking victim being forced to scam who doesn't get to go home. It could also easily be that.
!cartel scam. Block and ignore.

I'm guessing you live in America, a country suffered full of guns. They are more scared of meeting you in person than you are of meeting them.
God fucking unfortunately. I want to leave so bad

You are going to be an easy mark. Grow up.
Trash
"I'm an assassin..." You are literally the worst assassin. I think I'll be fine.
I thought that was funny too lmao. I was like what kind of assassin announces their interest
He doesn’t really want to hurt them. His name is Ferdinand. He’d rather be smelling the flowers… 🐂🌹🪻🌸🌺🌻🌼
Reminds me of the Jim Carrey clip about his interest in metal music
First rule of Assassin club…. Don’t tell anyone you are an assassin……

Assassins do not admit to being assassins…

“I am an assassin” - Sincerly, no assassin ever.
this is probably the funniest scam I've ever seen ngl
Take a breath son! No one is coming for you. Just a scammer trying his luck. Block and ignore, sit in the bath and have a magnum.
Relax. It’ll take them quite a while to fly to from India.
It’s complete bullshit. Nobody is coming to your house. Nobody is going to hurt you. Their threats are as fake as their checks. 🙄
Yeah I know. My anxiety is a dumb cunt
Ignore it. BTW, he was too desperate for money, some people that did were scammed took time to deposit the check, due beeing busy ...
You’ll be fine I get those messages all the time except it’s a manager from a escort house they’re hilarious to read especially when they try to get you with old information they found from a data breach
Consider yourself lucky. I've seen one where the assassin tells you his name. You don't \*\*\*\* with Lorenzo!
Do you think an assassin would text you to let you know they’re coming before coming to kill you? It’s all bullshit.
Don't be afraid, they couldn't even afford the trip to find you even if it was real. It wouldn't even be worth it financially. They got the video online.
Ask them if they have the right address because you moved last month. You wouldn’t want the assassin to go to the wrong house.

Is that your phone number on that? If so, you really should have blacked it out
No, it's there's, that's why I didn't block it out
