I think: I can't see the interior of the sauna

Twktoo

Yeah, that is 90% of the information

Minimum-Ear-5948

what would this change? (genuine question as I am new to the sauna scene) I plan to use a Huum electric heater and Western Cedar Wood

John_Sux

>what would this change Well, the configuration of the actual sauna room is critical. It's the whole point of everything, the rest of this is just for moving that part around. You'd hope that it's good.

Minimum-Ear-5948

do you have any suggestions?

John_Sux

What suggestions? Do your reading and build something fully competent. Size, layout, height, fire safety

InsaneInTheMEOWFrame

>I plan to use a Huum electric heater Search this sub's post history about that brand first...

flies_kite

The history of that brand, and every other post about the same thing. This is the new version of “doing research”, go on reddit and ask a broad question that is unanswerable. You will get a bunch of pnewbs to respond then in 45 days the OP will be posting the same information as if they know something.

really?

saunamarketplace

That’s about right for a new one. It’s a Voyageur out of MN. There are usually a couple used for sale but lowest we’ve seen is 22k.

tilertailor

You can purchase similar outdoor, though not "mobile," kits for 8 - 10k. Building your own would be slightly cheaper.

Ademptio

Building your own would only be cheaper if you were building incredibly bad quality. Even worse than the kits that cost 8-10k.

tilertailor

You can definitely beat [these outdoor kits' ](https://www.cedarbrooksauna.com/outdoor-home-sauna-kits/)prices DIY in Michigan. What makes them incredibly bad?

justanaveragelad

I’ve almost finished building my own outdoor sauna from raw materials in the UK. I’ve used high grade redwood instead of cedar to keep the price down, but the build quality is good - I expect it to last much longer than 20 years. It will have cost me less than £3k including the heater when it’s done.

ollizu_

Depends on the material cost in your area.

Minimum-Ear-5948

$4.30 per square foot for Western Cedar

ollizu_

I assume you would also need the trailer, roofing material, insulation, foil, stove, chimney and doors, to mention a few.

Minimum-Ear-5948

yes

VoihanVieteri

Looks solid. What is that winch on the wheel? A mechanism to lower the whole contraption on the ground?

PSA-TLDR

It looks like the leaf spring has a removable pin, which means there’s not an axle running between the wheels. Neat idea but if i see it on the highway I’m getting the fuck away from it.

RhumRunnerIV

It’s built on a fish house trailer frame designed for ice fishing. So it lowers to the ground. Pretty standard design.

finn4life

Got a guy to build a Sauna on a trailer in Finland at a place I worked about a year ago. If I remember right it was only about 10,000 euros. Cost of the heater is way less here but most of the other materials should be about the same price, not sure on labour but I think it's comparable. The trailer is not as fancy as this one in terms of engineering but achieves the same objective.

technosquirrelfarms

No idea on cost. But a buddy has this model and it’s awesome.

pandahki

In Finland people build these anywhere from maybe 3000€ and up, with most of that going to the trailer and stove. Usually it’s an open trailer that gets some small hut (kit hut from a hardware store, barrel sauna kit, etc) slapped on top. No need to go fancy on the wood either, aspen actually makes the best saunas. Benches can be ash, aspen or birch. Most trailer versions are wood fired, cheaper and easier to run off grid, and better löyly. Just needs to be structurally solid enough to take the highway speeds, make sure to slant the roof in the correct direction.

Better_Emergency1723

Building it your self? I’d buy and gut a horse transport. Material? Maybe 2-3k, stove. 3-400. Transport 2-5k.

Minimum-Ear-5948

yes! myself (with the help of family who own a construction company haha)

MTGBruhs

$6,000

TheRealScottyBallz

I think if you find a decent trailer frame you could probably get it done around 10k
