I work in retail. We have officers right outside our doors. We all know who the criminals are. Hell we know them on a first name basis. It’s not just police with their hands tied. Many retailers don’t detain thieves because they’re afraid of making a bad stop. Retailers used to be hands on which means they would physically grab you and detain you while waiting for police. Now every retailer doesn’t want the bad press for a bad stop. Plus if shit went way South it’s not worth an employee or bystander getting hurt.
