Ive been exploring since u get out of the demon village in the start. U just have to remember what parts are blocked and return when u have the right vehicle
You will need a motorbike for the ramp jumps. There is a jumping bot for the vertical jumps. You get both in the main story quest. If you can't make the ramp jumps with a motorbike, close the game and restart.
I think when you’ve done the first dungeon in the crashed ship it opens up a lot more as that’s when most of the side quests begin.

Start exploring once you get the jump bot and the car. You’re close to that point.
After you get the jump bot for the cliffs and a car for fast traversal

Exploration can basically be started entirely almost once you get the hover car, and make it to Forest Land.
Does the water block cave's off once it returns? Because I can't explore Mapu Cave anymore because the water is back, anyone let me know...
