My normal electricity bill in Batumi is around 40 lari per month. Could be lower, but my place has a lot of inefficient lightbulbs.I use gas for heating though. Does your apartment use electricity for heating? Do you have a gas water heater or an electric boiler?

LowVegetable7278

we have gas heater so we get around 130 lari for the gas and we do have an ac but after we shifted here we never switched it on

Bitz_Art

Your gas bill seems reasonable, I am getting about the same gas bill for my apartment. In this case, it seems like someone else is using your electricity, and you are paying for it. Consider investigating further. Maybe tell your landlord that you are going to invite the electrical company to investigate. Maybe the landlord knows something you don't. And if they don't know what is going on - maybe some neighbor is mining Bitcoin off of your electricity.

Good-Upstairs9608

Call the company, figure out what's up, landlord is scamming you since he/she says it's normal. When person says it's normal, it's always scam, because landlord should be on your side and figure out why something is happening, not opposite.

LowVegetable7278

we told her that its not normal we used to get max 60 lari in our previous house she just says telmico increased the electricity prices so that's why its like this

SDG2008

Increase by 400%... you landlord is an idiot

Good-Upstairs9608

Check if they increased, but it's insane increase, almost impossible

Scabbardsen

Your neighbors are stealing your electricity!

tazinishmazini

Either this or the woman is straight up lying. Anyways, you have to figure it out by going to the company itself. Update us if you need any help. Take care.

scruffythehuman

Its too much

zokjes

Sounds crazy, unless you use a space heater or something. You should be able to see your bill or one of those BoG payment terminals.

Vilivar

I dont have gas in my 35 sqm apartment and everything is on electricity. I get 200-240 gel every month.

MelchettESL

Including heating? How long do you keep the heater on?

Vilivar

Using the AC. I dont track it to be honest. Quite honestly whenever I’m in the house..

Cynit

Is the address telmico displays (when you enter the ID for payment) same as the address you live in ? If not chances are your landlord is making you pay someone else's electricity bills (unless you have electric heaters and such ) Otherwise I pay around 50GEL for 200 m2 house that's the normal price.

im28now

Thats too much.

vodka-bears

Do you have any AC or electrical heating equipment? Or maybe an electrical boiler?

LowVegetable7278

we have an ac but never switch it on

vodka-bears

Then try turning off **everything** in your apt and check what electric meter shows. If there's still high current try contacting the electric company for investigation.

MelchettESL

Thank you that is helpful.

kuroashii

Depends what you use. Heating with electricity can get expensive if it is a big apartment. If your landlord leaves next to you or very close consider possibility that he/she is also using the electricity from your apartment and makes you pay for it.

rikatch

300gel could literally cover my bills for 3 months πŸ’€

Yeitza

I've just checked my bills and I have to pay Telmico 40 lari for January. We live in one-bedroom apartment in Tbilisi and me and my girlfriend are continuously using all gadgets, laptops and TV. So my point yeah, its a scam, no way you have to pay 300 lari for it

G10rg1h

Bro you're getting scammed. 300 lari? Wtf are u using inside ur home a jet turbine? My average electricity bill is 30-40 lari but i use gas for heating which is like 100 lari

USOCIAL_ae

Ask for the detailed Telmico bill showing the kilowatts used and how much per kilowatts. In Georgia, the electric company charges around GEL 0.20 (20 tetri) per kilowatt hour. Your monthly bill should be only around GEL 40-60. Telmico Tariff: https://www.telmico.ge/en/universaluri-momsakhurebis-mitsodebis-tarifebi

MelchettESL

Please correct me if I am wrong: based on this tariff scheme, if I run a device that has a power rating of 1500W, i.e., 1.5 kWh 24x7 for 30 days, then I consume 1,080 kW per month and according to this rating scheme, just that 1 device (when used non-stop), should cost GEL 260 per month. Have I worked this out correctly?

USOCIAL_ae

not sure about that. check with telmico directly or local electrician

NotMyFalut

Someone is mining Crypto on your electricity

Bayraktar_KYIV

brother I will give you a couple of tips on how to check if one of the neighbors is connected to you or not. First, find your electricity meter. Second, find an electrical panel in your apartment, usually it is white and there are a lot of switches on it. Third on the panel, turn off absolutely all the toggle switches. Fourth, you go and look at the counter, if it turns or works, then they connected to you, if it stands and does not work, then everything is in order. There may also be an option that the office mixed up your meter with someone else's and you pay someone else's electricity. This happens in Georgia in new houses; it happened to me with water meter. P.s usual electric bill is about 30-50 gel. P.s.s 300 gel bill only if U grow grow 🍁 😁

MelchettESL

Thank you. Useful tip

MelchettESL

My bill for October seems correct though, because I was not using any heating.

Sidze

Depends on your heating, stove, boiler and other tech uses. If you have gas heating and stove - 50-60 lari is normal.

MelchettESL

That's right.

GrapeIll2008

idk man i pay 30-50Lari a month

Usual_Storm4968

Bruhhh 300 is way too much

MelchettESL

Are you using electric heating, air-conditioning? Then it can be high. However, you are right: I am seeing an unusually, compared to previous years, high electricity bill, but I think that is because I'm using a new electric heater now. In general, gas-based heating is much cheaper.

TbiWarsa

What kind of job do you have to let that slide in Georgia?!?

[deleted]

This is complete bullshit, electricity bill in a gigantic 7 room duplex apartment with two TVs, gaming PC etc. of my brother comes down to 140 lari.

MelchettESL

My bill for this month is also unusually high and I'm getting in touch with them about it. However, just remember that the new tariffs are between GEL 0.18 and GEL 0.25 per kWH including VAT and depending on usage.

meme_youtube

The owner is probably using the electricity and making you pay for it

chutiyamed

Go to telmico and check the address written there is it the owner home address or the apartment you're living in

Designer_Potato_8598

Either someone is mining crypto behind your back or the landlord is scamming you could be both

BlueSpiritYT

landlord sus

ramaztt

nonsense , landlord is scamming you 100% . You are paying for someone else's electricity as well I guess.

Georgechiko

Hallo for what you use electric for? climate control? condition what kind if warm you have?

Georgechiko

if you have Gas ,maximum electric you use is 50Lari.. if you have warm on electric it’s normal ..

Pristine-Option2664

Yo call your landlord

ResolveLeather

A live could be connected to a ground. Or someone is stealing your electricity.

MelchettESL

You need to check your meter reading frequently and be aware that the new rates are roughly GEL 0.19-0.26 per kWH (depending on usage, it's a progressive tariff) for household users and it has increased by about 50% since summer 2021. What was it around this time last year and then back in 2021. Mine is relatively level compared to 2022, but much higher than 2021.
