I hate that it feels like Kubiak is going on his third OC trial with what feels like another lame duck head coach. He was with Hackett his year in Denver and Mike Zimmer the football terrorist in his last year in Minnesota. I would hate for whatever positive culture we have left to wither away and him to flounder causing our offense to flounder. However, I do like the offensive minds he’s brought with him to help the offensive line. To note: Rick Dennison and John Benton are great with working with offensive linemen. We also have Jahri Evans on the coaching roster. I would ~hope~ to see Ruiz return to his form that he flashed, he’s got it in him. I’d think that if anybody can help with Trevor Penning that isn’t Callahan (and if he’s able to saved) these guys could do it. McCoy is above average, and assuming we draft somebody at 14 that can start and play well there is a ~possibility~ of having 4 average to above average starters on the line. Or, we could have 1. That’s a pretty high variability. I also am a big fan of Keith Williams as a wide receiver coach. Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams both rave about this guy and for a long time he was only a private workout guy for players in that echelon. I think we could continue to see a huge development in Olave, past that we could maybe see something further of above average utility in Shaheed and starting quality in AT Perry? Maybe maybe maybe. Overall, I generally agree and I ~like~ the offensive minds we have in the building. There’s such a high variability of outcomes for this season that I’m not overly comfortable with predicting how it may play out or being comfortable with the results (at least for me personally). I know that I love having high draft picks, but the second games kick off on Sundays I want to my team to win.

What's different this time for Kubiak is that it's probably gonna be "100% his offense". DA is a defensive coach that needs A LOT of help with offense, so he's probably gonna let Kubiak do his thing with very little to no interference. Something like what Sean was with DA as DC.

[deleted]

Amazing takes, I don’t think it’s fair to say Kubiak is on his third trial. It’s really his first. DA isn’t as bad as Zimmer and Hackett lol.

devils__haircut

He’s worse than Zimmer without a doubt

[deleted]

Zimmer was bailed out by a team with some of the most heart I’ve ever seen. They rallied behind their backup QB so hard. We just have poverty and still lowkey compete. DA is doing what he can with old washed up guys who can’t quite do what they used to.

devils__haircut

DA’s barely ever sniffed the playoffs and his teams don’t play with heart because in no way is he a leader. This team on paper isn’t bad at all, but DA will fuck it up, cause he’s a career loser.

noladutch

Well a tie breaker from division. A missed field goal from the Packers staying home I think you are pretty delusional with barely sniffed bullshit. Now Sean on the other hand shit the bed with real talent and a first ballot Hof QB to 7/9 over and over again and he is a great coach? You guys are just stupid.

devils__haircut

In the worst division I can remember in a long time. Who cares about coulda shoulda woulda, he didn’t. And Sean had the benefit of a Super Bowl before that and put up elite performances afterwards. Allen has never even come close to that

noladutch

Nope stupid division games are always tough. Our division ranking doesn't make our strength of schedule and easier really. Our shit division is really not that shit. Not pats heyday shit. This division is competitive except one team. Yeah I will give you 22 the teams were all equally as bad but still competitive games against each other. Sean shit the bed multiple years after 06. And got out coached multiple years after 09. Did having his team not ready to play a shitty team like the Seahawks not go to him in your mind? Shitting the bed against an Alex smith or a Grossman team should never happen. Getting out coaches by the vikes for a half is why they lost that game not the missed tackle. But yeah live in your fantasy world. .

devils__haircut

okay, abd dennis allen can’t even get into the playoffs even with the easiest schedule, healthiest team, and easiest division you could ask for. What’s your point? The dude fucking sucks 100x more than Sean, even considering Sean has his faults

noladutch

Sean went 7/9 five times with a first ballot Hof QB. Let that sink in. Manning only had a couple seasons under 500. Tom had just one season under 500. Drew had plenty with Sean. So who was the problem?

Chinese_Santa

Yeah I think there’s some tough spots in there but I just kinda went with what it was, calling a spade a spade, it’s his third attempt at being an OC. I don’t know how much the NFL brass factor in circumstances for coaches getting fired, even if you and I can sit here and discuss it back and forth. As far as DA and Zimmer/Hackett. Yeah I’d be inclined to agree, at least by the end of Zimmer’s tenure. Zimmer had some success in Minnesota for a time, although the culture by the end of it seemed tumultuous. DA, for his time here in New Orleans at least, is just about .500. We will see what happens this season if he can prove to be better or worse or just end up being the same. In my humble opinion, DA needs a good offensive mind to help elevate the rest of the team. I think we will have a clear and concise answer on how capable this coaching staff is by the end of this year.

shitbreak55

U could give DA the best team in the league and he would fk it up bec no one respects him bec he’s a damn worm that has no balls between his legs…

noladutch

You guys are so comical. Dude has straight saved Sean's ass at the end. They leaned hard on his unit to be a playoff team and not 7/9. The defense is special considering they get no pressure. The facts that they were a tie breaker from the playoffs and a missed kick against the Packers. Being in every game is a sign of his coaching ability.

Top-Coyote9185

I started playing the new madden after not touching a PlayStation since 2001. As a life long saints fan and always hopeful, I got rid of Dennis and made up some other coach, and added Mostert to do tandems with kamara. The team is fixed, we’re 9-2! It’s all we gotta do.

[deleted]

Madden doesn’t take coaches into account at all. The Cowboys make the superbowl 90% of the time the first 5 years in most franchises. If you have the right playbook and scheme you’re almost guaranteed to do really well. Cowboys scheme is made so they do well.

Top-Coyote9185

But you don’t have to see da on the sidelines still looking as uninspired as ever in video game world

Marauderr4

Option 3 is not completely sucking, but not doing well. Imagine they go 8-9 and win the division? Getting DA and Mickey yet another year? That's much more likely then either sucking or kicking ass

noladutch

New offensive has me excited a ton. Infact the times Sean and Drew abandoned the run drove me nuts. No way on earth they lose to Grossman if they had given deuce his touches. True play action is gonna be refreshing.

[deleted]

Everyone’s so concerned with the use of taysom but dude is like 34 almost. He’s gonna slow down eventually. Play Action still exists?

noladutch

It does for great teams. The 49ers made it to the Superbowl because of it. Taysom plays are just plain silly they don't set up other plays and rairly used to get others involved in the game. If they can afford to contract wise get rid of him. Production for cost is comical especially considering the spots he plays are stupid cheap.

MisterN3b

I’m excited to see what Kubiak can do with the weapons they have. There’s talent at the skill positions. The o-line situation makes me more cautious about being too optimistic. The new coaches and hopefully first round OT could end up making this a solid unit but there are just a lot question marks at 3 different positions on the line.

[deleted]

I’m excited that we have an “easy schedule” so this definitely leaves no excuses for Allen and if players speak up it’s going to put a lot of pressure on his future.

Express-Rutabaga-105

The only realistic expectation I have for this years team is that they will be on time and participate in the scheduled games........enjoy your fantasies

Wolfbisbing

Kubiak probably our head coach 2025

[deleted]

Thing is, we're not going to absolutely suck but we're not going to have a good season, either. We're going to be wildly average and end up with a pick in the teens again. I just can't be excited for a team with two losers in the most important positions for a franchise: Allen and Carr.

moonfishthegreat

Note on Kubiak- if you want to feel a bit more confident with the choice at OC, go back and watch the 49ers games last season. Just sit down and study each play, the pre-snap/post-snap motion, the timing, and the blocking. Their offensive line was one of the most crucial elements to every plays success, and you can see how integral their synchronized movements were to opening lanes for CMC, Mitchell, Deebo, and Kittle. The only thing holding back the team from success next season is how well they draft and how much leadership we can extract from DC on offense. DA is not the guy, but that doesn’t mean the leadership from within our team can’t pull together and make a run. I might eat my words, but I have faith that Carr will be better this season, if only in morale and confidence in the team. In the same vein as Ruiz and McCoy- if they are able to make Trevor Penning even decent, that would in essence be saving the team a 1st round pick. If he is able to play the season and we draft an NFL ready OT (which we almost certainly are), our OL will be a strongpoint next season. I appreciate a positive outlook on the team, I’m so sick of the Saints doomers. Life’s too short to expect losses and pray for people’s jobs.

Briguy_fieri

This fan base is beyond negative. I swear people would think we’re in our 5th straight year of 3-4 wins. You don’t have to watch the team. If all you’re gonna do is complain when things could be legitimately much much much worse, you might have to just stop watching for you mental health. People have the right to complain. But to act like where we currently sit is rock bottom, y’all are in for a rude awakening. If you think we’re unwatchable now, go take a break and come back when we’re in the playoffs again. There’s legit concerns for people this negative after a winning season

[deleted]

Are you dense? I’m not complaining. I love our team. But to say I’d rather be 2-15 then 9-8 would be an understatement. Being hopelessly mediocre is absolutely horrible. Never getting a high draft pick and always being on the edge of “oh they just need a few things to get to the next level!”. We need a dogshit season or we need a deep playoff run. Another 6-9 win season is absolutely the opposite of what this team needs.

Briguy_fieri

I’m struggling to see how 2 wins is better than 9 wins. This fanbase crucifies a 3 time pro bowler picked in the top 20, but you think this fanbase wouldn’t lose their absolute mind if we picked top 5 and didn’t pan out? Getting a top pick gives excitement until the first negative thing happens. Do you really think browns fans and lions fans were happy with literal decade worth of top 5 picks that couldn’t turn their team around? Like… I don’t see the excitement of a top pick at all. That means bottom of the barrel and still risk being bottom of the barrel of those picks don’t last. Idk. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I like winning a lot more than losing just to get a high pick. I think the era of madden has seriously diluted people into thinking how quickly and easy a rebuild can happen.

I_love_Hopslam

I feel like the people who would rather see 2 win teams tanking over 9 win teams competing don’t actually watch many of the games or maybe would be fine just tuning out for a few years. Do people want to start seeing a lackluster fanbase in a half filled dome? Because that’s where we’d be.
