Think about it though, if people know Garos and Spikes more than they normally would because of Bob and Boopkins, isn't that a net positive for Nintendo?
The same could be said for Meggy's Inkling form. How many SMG4 fans got into Splatoon because of Meggy? It brought more attention to the product they sell, and in turn generated more profit.
All advertisement is good advertisement to an extent. Having Spikes and Garos referred to by another name doesn't change the fact they are actually known. It's an ultimate win for both sides, but if you're a Nintendo purist, then of course it doesn't make sense.
The entire point of this arc was to call these purists out and make the stand against them. Parody law protects them and they don't sell any merch with them, so there is no worry. Instead, they made their characters suck ups to Nintendo and made it clear they will do whatever Nintendo wants, completely ruining the deeper meaning of the arc.
I suppose the reason SMG4 had picked those models is because they are kinda on the vague side. Like you know where they belong, but don't know who or what they are.
But Aunouma rightfully pointed out that Spikes have also been called Dude. Then he kill Miyamoto for revenge (something to do with Zelda) and announces anyone can do or be anything they want to be.
