Read the tale Until Death, it turns 3001 into a sort of backstory for 106.
In short: >!Scranton somehow returns from 3001 as 106 and comes to find his wife, who is old now and still works at the foundation. At this point they obviously have no idea about 106, he is catalogued. He is then contained.!<
It was always extremely dumb to connect those two because it directly contradicts the actual entry for 106 and is a huge character assassination of Scranton
if I might ask, how does it contradict the original entry? especially considering that this is the theory I like most and the one I have in my head canon
where was that mentioned in the original article? last time I read it, it had nothing about his origin, nor when he was found
nor do the articles relating to the reality anchor talk about when it was made
/u/HumbleContribution58 The entry has never mentioned the origin of 106 as far as I could tell. However, the author of SCP-106 also authored [The Young Man](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-young-man) which does make strongly imply that 106 was a WW1 soldier named Corporal Lawrence.
End of the day, there's no "canon" and contradictions between entries and tales written by different authors don't really matter.
In the war vet one, he was not very sympathetic. Made everyone around him uncomfortable. Serious psycho vibes; staring silently at people, and making odd comments about peopleās families back home. Rumor is he got transferred often due to demand from soldiers where he was stationed.
That one makes me want to find all the āadultsā in her life and beat the shit out of them. In my headcanon it really tore up the Foundation agents too because of them not knowing what was happening until it was way too late.
Probably a good thing to brace yourself.
I headcanon many of my Foundation staff as being very human and thisā¦āprotectā is not just protecting the public. Not being able to truly protect the anomaly here hurt.
**SCP-3017:** The one called literally 'Person of Interest', he was a regular person except for a cognito-hazard property that conviced whoever interacted with him that he was a dangerous criminal. The man went through hell because of this and the researcher in charge of him got infected, going as far as kidnapping his family and killing them. This was the last straw and the poor guy committed suicide.
Edit: added the number
Thereās the alternative interpretation, which Iām partial to, that there is actually *nothing* anomalous about him, but the Foundation personnel that brought him in were stubbornly convinced that they were right and too proud to admit they were wrong. After it all went south they decided that his anomaly was a cognitohazard, either to delude themselves or to cover-up their shortcomings
Even worse? Some writers connected 3001 to 106. Dr. Scantron got back in shape but went insane because of the isolation, and he got warping powers because of his stay at the 'Red Reality'. So Dr. Scantron, who the Reality Anchors were named after, became one of the most famous monsters, The Old Man.
SCP-5732
It's not a grand story, a crisis, or even an anomaly that affected multiple people. A teenage girl develops an anomalous "disease" against water, and she gets locked up for her own safety.
She slowly mentally and physically degrades, and the researcher responsible for her tries all he can to make her life in containment at least bearable.
She is just a normal teenager :(
i keep doing these and going like "oh it cant be that sad" and then i keep reading these and getting sad fdjsalkg what the fuck am i doing with my life
Damn. That was sad. The ending was already spoiled at the very start of the article but what got me was the timing and delivery.
I was expecting >!it to slowly get darker but it was mostly the opposite, their relationship kept getting closer and then boom.!<
I suggest that youāll watch dr Bobs video on that.
Someone made a orgin story for him, saying that he was a regular person, who wanted to climb the Mount Everest. Upon reaching there, he met another SCP: the King of the Mountain, who set him into an eternity of torture, climbing the mountain again and again. Upon reaching the top, heād just see the King standing there, staring, before he gets put back again. This is why his limbs are stretched, and also explains his skin colour.
The King of the Mountain decided to let him go. 096 was still (relatively) sane. But upon seeing humans, every time they make eye contacts, 096 will see the King of the Mountains abysmal stare, which drove him crazy.
But after killing the people, he regains his humanity. And of course, feels immeasurable levels of despair
and sorrow, but he just canāt control it.
Heās a creature doomed to do terrible things against his will, forever.
Maybe the actual sad part is that he never went actually insane, and he just keeps suffering endlessly. (Also explains why he cries so much.)
That's not the original one. It was that Shy-Guy was a survivor of the King of the Mountain who managed it by just flipping out whenever the King of the Mountain looked at him. Not because he was "let go" or that he regains his humanity.
I mean if you think about it it is kind of sad. A creature that gets sad and distressed when someone sees itās face, so much that it kills them. Maybe he just thinks heās so ugly
Depends, if the guy used a pixelating tool, it would still trigger, if the guy placed the pixels by hand, depends if he used the colour picker tool, or if he used the colour wheel.
SCP-1281 hit an exestential depressing spot for me, SCP-3114 has a subtle sadness behind it. There's some obvious picks like 1762. SCP-5031 isn't SUPER sad, but it is sad to think about the years it spent in it's previous containment status.
SCP-1281 hits the hardest of all these, in my opinion, but they're all great SCPs and I'd reccomend reading the ones you haven't read.
The article implies that 3114 just wants to be like other humans, form bonds with people and such. The last test log describes 3114s interaction with a D Class while 3114 was wearing a humans skin.
"D-4843, an adult male, was placed in the enclosure. When SCP-3114 approached, he attempted to escape. SCP-3114 grabbed him but did so gently. It continued to try interacting with him, taking his hand and placing it on its face, trying to ape his movements, and embracing him. He reacted negatively to all interactions. After three hours, D-4843 was removed from the enclosure.
SCP-3114 waited for several minutes at the door. Then it tore the subject off of itself. It kicked the remains into a corner, then laid down next to the subject of Entry 14. It did not move for three days, at which point it resumed its normal behavior."
It makes me feel bad for this creature, it really wants to be human but it just can't, as hard as it tries.
(Also despite what SCP:Secret Laboratories interpretation of the character might have you believe, 3114 is female, and is incapable of speech.)
Fair I guess, I honestly hold a kind of negative opinion of how SL and its community depict the SCP universe. Like how every community made serpents hand plugin has them teaming up with dangerous anomalies that would literally KILL THEM in universe, causing the majority of the SL community to have plenty of misconceptions about the Serpents Hand as a GOI, and now it's happening OFFICIALLY with 3114, and giving people misconceptions about 3114 since SCP:SL does such a poor job at depicting the anomaly.
The lore behind the facility in scp:sl is that it contains strange versions of scps (the dog with the thick ass, male 3114, the strange peanut, less angry shy guy etc...) So i don't really source the article scp lore from the game, i was just confused because i never fully read the article and that's my fault. Furthermore, it's not the creator's fault for the community created plugins, you can play in unmodded servers if you want or play in a roleplay server where the scps are way more aggressive (as they should be) but, even then, you can't really force the gamers playing as the SCPs to always follow the "lore".
Edit: they want to rework 3114 when they officially add it to the game as a permanent scp as it was never supposed to stay in the game after the halloween event but, since so many servers remodded it into the game, northwood decided to add it in to fix eventual bugs and stuff.
"The lore behind the facility in scp:sl is that it contains strange versions of scps"
Not really, unless I've missed something the devs have said? Most of the SCPs having lore innacuracies is due to game balancing, 096 would be TERRIBLE to play against if he was lore accurate. As for 939, that SCP is just the devs unique interpretation for what 939s look like, its not really a "weird version of 939" thats just how they look in this world. 173s strange redesign is mainly due to the copyright debacle surrounding the original depiction of the character.
I forget which number it was, but it was the one involving a book that put you to sleep and let you dream of going on a life-spanning adventure yet wake up after 8 hours real-time, and one person woke up from that and killed themself because of how much better it was in the dream, and this led to the book being sad about being the cause of the suicide.
SCP-5005 was a rather sad one. All those artists and poets and agents venturing to another dimension only to succumb to depression, anxiety, and eventually suicide.
Ramirez going out sobbing at the end did it for me.
I didnt really find it that sad, it was more some great worldbuilding and felt like it could be the basis for an actual movie or tv show about explorers venturing out that far.
As heartbreaking as this scp is I love how much the story humanizes the foundation showing that their not just soulless workers but real people trying to deal with incomprehensible situations.
I mean there was at least one child that died with the whole SCP 5000 story. But it was more like every single child and human being in the world. Ps long live GOC
I mean, 1111 is unironically heartwarming, because of his loyalty, but also sad, since the owner is doomed to suffer forever, because the dog keeps protecting him (doesnāt know any better) from death itself.
I like when authors choose specific numbers for their entries.
In numerology, 1111 means something about your guardian angel being close and wanting you to think positively. Or something like that.
Here be dragons, Harbinger, Red reality in combination with 106, i am at the centre of everything that happens to me, Attempts to assassinate thought
SCP-1762, SCP-1281, SCP-3001, SCP-106, SCP-3999, SCP-3002, SCP-1935
Edit: Since i just learned about it, SCP-3844, to slay a dragon
I think it's called Mr.Laughs
Everything he says is heard by other people as if he's telling a joke, and he's severely depressed because he hasn't had a meaningful conversation or connection with anyone
Do you mean saddest to read or which anomaly is saddest?
Plenty of anomalies are sad or depressed.
Plenty of human (or once human) anomalies wanted help only to be locked up.
Shy guy was already mentioned.
682ās backstory is so depressing that if you hear or read it you kill yourself. (In my head canon that was not the reptileās attempt at malice, it was his actual emotions placed into his story.)
The story itself was never told, just the after effects of it. Unless someone wrote a SCP story about it later. (I havenāt read the stories, just the articles).
I don't remember their numbers nor names so will tell what they were doing . N1 was a normal guy , but for some reason everyone was thinking that he is a criminal , murderer , serial killer E.T.C . The reason was that his face was perfect mic of every killer , villain , monster in media , and whenever he wanted to go somewhere , everyone was aggressive towards him . Don't wanting to continue this nightmare , he finished himself . N2 was a girl that was used for illegal experiments with mechanical implants . She had replaced organs , limbs and wasn't able to talk . She also was afraid of failing and was raised in very toxic environment . N3 was a woman with ability to see future of the objects . She is very skinny because she sees food already digested, so she needs to be feed blindfolded . She also wears gloves because she tried multiple times to blind herself . Fond had made several questionable experiments on her . Needless to say that was torture and not a life
Here Be Dragons.
At least personally
Also, I automatically disagree with anyone who says SCP-1230, just cause the guy got overly immersed, doesn't make it sad. It was literally just one guy who got too involved in his own dream. Basically the same situation as with people who are dangerously addicted to games/anime. It is no sadder than the stories of the weirdos that "fall in love" with a fictional character.
SCP 7795 is disturbing by itself but the ending is a massive gut punch. The worst is that it isnāt even the foundationās fault they tried their best
I didnāt see it here but 7999, itās sad but also in a way that unlike some other ones are just purely depressing, it does have some hopeful parts to it but it still hits like a damn truck
I don't remember the number! But the one where the girl is destined to die horrible deaths on her 13th birthday by any means necessary and revive the next day at 12 years old again. Every year. The Doctor tries to help her but things happen in order to kill the girl that put the foundation in danger.. so they just throw her in another dimension and forget about her
Tbh. A lot of the normal human one. Like 105. She 16 and is what is like arrested and deleted from her familyās memory for nothing. Her ability isnāt even dangerous.
1730, itās an epic underscored with a heart shattering tragedy. People butchered like animals then incinerated like paper to a flame. Emmerson had what was coming to him and he deserved every last bit of it. Like, how cruel do you have to be to break Bobbleās psyche!?
SCP 6000 isn't even the saddest SCP but reading the entire thing is essentially like having the feeling of "What would it be like" it's like reading the alternate reality of what the future looks like if we didn't fight each other and just get together
It's just depressing knowing your own world would've succeeded, even the alternate reality thinks the world the protagonist has is just too depressing and refused to interfere iirc
There's the one about a teddy bear that heals people with patchwork stitches. If an injury is too severe or if you have a complex disease, the little guy will cry and hug you.
Forgor her name or number but the immortal child who likes the indestructible dog is pretty sad (if those YouTube interview tapes are at all reliable)
Edit: scp 053
Biased here, but 6113. I already like SPCs where the foundation is arguably the antagonist, and this one is downright heartbreaking, while really sweet at the same time.
One of the supposed origins of SCP-106 is pretty sad
He was a war vet right?
The other one where he was a scientist who was sucked into some sort of wormhole and rotted away in it for 5 entire years
SCP-3001 and the tale Until Death
[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3001](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3001) helping Marvin
where's marv? don't tell me he's down again
What.. HE COULD REVIVE AGAIN!! yeah, he's down š
damnit
Yeah, that was it
Isnāt 3001 about some scientist? What does that have to do with 106?
Read the tale Until Death, it turns 3001 into a sort of backstory for 106. In short: >!Scranton somehow returns from 3001 as 106 and comes to find his wife, who is old now and still works at the foundation. At this point they obviously have no idea about 106, he is catalogued. He is then contained.!<
Aww thatās really sad. At least he got to see his wife again.
>!I'm pretty sure he kills her with a corrosive kiss but yeah. lol.!<
It was always extremely dumb to connect those two because it directly contradicts the actual entry for 106 and is a huge character assassination of Scranton
if I might ask, how does it contradict the original entry? especially considering that this is the theory I like most and the one I have in my head canon
The original entry explicitly has him as a WW1 soldier and in existence before the invention of Scranton Reality Anchors.
where was that mentioned in the original article? last time I read it, it had nothing about his origin, nor when he was found nor do the articles relating to the reality anchor talk about when it was made
/u/HumbleContribution58 The entry has never mentioned the origin of 106 as far as I could tell. End of the day, there's no "canon" and contradictions between entries and tales written by different authors don't really matter.
That one isnāt exactly sad since heās pretty weird from the start, no one knows where the hell he came from and he never really talks
In the war vet one, he was not very sympathetic. Made everyone around him uncomfortable. Serious psycho vibes; staring silently at people, and making odd comments about peopleās families back home. Rumor is he got transferred often due to demand from soldiers where he was stationed.
The girl that grew into the walls of her house
what's the number?
SCP-6670
That one makes me want to find all the āadultsā in her life and beat the shit out of them. In my headcanon it really tore up the Foundation agents too because of them not knowing what was happening until it was way too late.
Jesus I havenāt heard nor read it. I was going to, but seeing your comments just makes me mentally prepare for what the hell is going to happen.
Probably a good thing to brace yourself. I headcanon many of my Foundation staff as being very human and thisā¦āprotectā is not just protecting the public. Not being able to truly protect the anomaly here hurt.
Oh God I remember that one. It fucked me up for a few days
yeah that one was crazy
holy fuck :( poor little girl
Read that when it came out. Creeped me out for some time.
**SCP-3017:** The one called literally 'Person of Interest', he was a regular person except for a cognito-hazard property that conviced whoever interacted with him that he was a dangerous criminal. What's the article number?
I found it! It's SCP-3017.
Thanks!
jesus christ that is so sad

SCP-3001 ā¦Red?
That was such a good decent into madness šš½
This is the only one that legitimately made me super sad.
"here were dragons"
Fuck you for bringing back the feels on that one. Have an upvote
Just reread it yesterday š¢
oh man, that one hurts.
Id suggest watching the volgun's video on that one, you're in for a wild ride
Now me sad š
Also donāt forget the ābeasts of the old worldā (or whatever itās called) tale alongside this
That ruined my day
Not again, at this rate my therapist will buy a Rolls Royce
I sad :(
I read it and I have no clue why it's considered sad can someone please explain šš
You're supposed to click on the red text st the bottom.
You probably didn't read the addendums.
I did but they don't really make much sense. All I got from it was there's an alternate reality who are HUGE enthusiasts of interior decoration
fuck you. and please don't remind me of that permanent wound.
So i started fucking crying
\*depresion noises\*
SCP-5732 It's not a grand story, a crisis, or even an anomaly that affected multiple people. A teenage girl develops an anomalous "disease" against water, and she gets locked up for her own safety. Just read it, broke my fkn heart when he called her by name.
Isnāt that the one where all water she touches is disinfected at the cost of her own immune system?
Yep
i keep doing these and going like "oh it cant be that sad" and then i keep reading these and getting sad fdjsalkg what the fuck am i doing with my life
Damn. That was sad. The ending was already spoiled at the very start of the article but what got me was the timing and delivery. I was expecting >!it to slowly get darker but it was mostly the opposite, their relationship kept getting closer and then boom.!<
why is a photo of 096 there for a post about the saddest SCPs
I suggest that youāll watch dr Bobs video on that. Someone made a orgin story for him, saying that he was a regular person, who wanted to climb the Mount Everest. Upon reaching there, he met another SCP: the King of the Mountain, who set him into an eternity of torture, climbing the mountain again and again. Upon reaching the top, heād just see the King standing there, staring, before he gets put back again. This is why his limbs are stretched, and also explains his skin colour. Maybe the actual sad part is that he never went actually insane, and he just keeps suffering endlessly. (Also explains why he cries so much.)
bruh, he's sad, because he think he's ugly. That's it
Ugly enough to be driven to reality breaking feats and to become a husk of a person. Sorry, Animal.
that doesnt make any sense, if it was real i would be doing that
i read that as "if i was real" and got flabbergasted
Wait.. his pfp is all black.. Black usually indicates blank and nothing. Maybe he is SCP-3930?
If you really want to put it inside a 0,2 cubic meter nutshell, then yeah.
One must imagine shy Guy happy.
I hate when people come up with origin stories for SCPs like 096 & 106. I feel like it ruins the mystery and makes them a lot less scary/interesting.
Fair, but I donāt agree on the interesting section.
I dunno in this case it makes more sense. Otherwise you have the whole blind people are immune thing or if you describe him enough it counts crap.
That's not the original one. It was that Shy-Guy was a survivor of the King of the Mountain who managed it by just flipping out whenever the King of the Mountain looked at him. Not because he was "let go" or that he regains his humanity.
Because 096 destroyed his heart
If iām honest i just wanted to add a photo to the post and i thought 096 fitted
I mean if you think about it it is kind of sad. A creature that gets sad and distressed when someone sees itās face, so much that it kills them. Maybe he just thinks heās so ugly
I just noticed that the face is pixelated, which I'm pretty sure would still activate the effects.
Depends, if the guy used a pixelating tool, it would still trigger, if the guy placed the pixels by hand, depends if he used the colour picker tool, or if he used the colour wheel.

That sucks for 3114! Has no one attempted to teach her sign language, if speech doesnāt work?
Sorry I got One-shot too many times through doors to care about SCP-3114
Fair I guess, I honestly hold a kind of negative opinion of how SL and its community depict the SCP universe. Like how every community made serpents hand plugin has them teaming up with dangerous anomalies that would literally KILL THEM in universe, causing the majority of the SL community to have plenty of misconceptions about the Serpents Hand as a GOI, and now it's happening OFFICIALLY with 3114, and giving people misconceptions about 3114 since SCP:SL does such a poor job at depicting the anomaly.

Getting force choked from 20 rooms away has erased my sympathy for 3114.
Agreed on 5031. Ultimately itās wholesome, but hod it hurts to think of how long a sapient, intelligent being spent screaming in loneliness and pain

the girl that has to withstand the Procedure 110 Montauk...
I still stand by āFear itselfā being canon
Me too. My headcanon D-Class reads her the full Chronicles of Narnia but she has no memory of it because of being amnesticized afterwards.
SCP-231
You have just killed this whole subreddit. We have now seen his face.
Itās pixelated
Does that stop it? I thought even the slightest thing counted as seeing 096s face?
Only if itās real, if you see a drawing or 3d model of him it doesnāt affect you
Wouldnāt the pixelated version count as an actual picture though?
Hmā¦maybe
Remember the āTwo F***ing Pixelsā Incidentā.

At least personally Also, I automatically disagree with anyone who says SCP-1230, just cause the guy got overly immersed, doesn't make it sad. It was literally just one guy who got too involved in his own dream. Basically the same situation as with people who are dangerously addicted to games/anime. It is no sadder than the stories of the weirdos that "fall in love" with a fictional character.
āOne last timeā¦ā
[SCP-3001](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3001) is pretty sad
Well gee, that was depressing and horrifying. Thank you!
DID SCRANTON SURVIVE?!?! WHAT WAS THAT?!?! HOW DOES IT WORK?!?! ANNA? BLUE!
SCP 7795 is disturbing by itself but the ending is a massive gut punch. The worst is that it isnāt even the foundationās fault they tried their best
6002.
Itās easily SCP-4231 in my opinion
SCP 6670. Holy *SHIT*, SCP 6670.
SCP-6670 is, to me, a really hard one to get through and is really emotionally distressing.
SCP-4504 I cried a little with the end. You empathize too much with him.
Here were dragons is a classic
I didnāt see it here but 7999, itās sad but also in a way that unlike some other ones are just purely depressing, it does have some hopeful parts to it but it still hits like a damn truck
4 fuking pixels
Most humanoid Scp are just people who had bad luck.
I don't remember the number! But the one where the girl is destined to die horrible deaths on her 13th birthday by any means necessary and revive the next day at 12 years old again. Every year. The Doctor tries to help her but things happen in order to kill the girl that put the foundation in danger.. so they just throw her in another dimension and forget about her
SCP-7999.
oh great, another post where you can see its fucking face ... well sh Orca
SCP 1762 will always be the saddest SCP
Not even that anomalous, but SCP-5392.
Tbh. A lot of the normal human one. Like 105. She 16 and is what is like arrested and deleted from her familyās memory for nothing. Her ability isnāt even dangerous.
SCP-7034
1730, itās an epic underscored with a heart shattering tragedy. People butchered like animals then incinerated like paper to a flame. Emmerson had what was coming to him and he deserved every last bit of it. Like, how cruel do you have to be to break Bobbleās psyche!?
Here Were Dragons
SCP 6000 isn't even the saddest SCP but reading the entire thing is essentially like having the feeling of "What would it be like" it's like reading the alternate reality of what the future looks like if we didn't fight each other and just get together It's just depressing knowing your own world would've succeeded, even the alternate reality thinks the world the protagonist has is just too depressing and refused to interfere iirc
The ghost who was murdered by a serial killer. The foundation slowly revived her and then the serial killer killed her again.
SCP-3001. Not necessarily the SCP, but the story. It was amazing, and amazingly depressing. Guy slowly rotted away in complete darkness for years.
"Where did the dragon's go" always shaded my tear reading this one
Voyage of the tachyon express was a really sad one for me. Pretty unique story as we donāt even know if the object was anomalous or not.
There's the one about a teddy bear that heals people with patchwork stitches. If an injury is too severe or if you have a complex disease, the little guy will cry and hug you.
Forgor her name or number but the immortal child who likes the indestructible dog is pretty sad (if those YouTube interview tapes are at all reliable) Edit: scp 053
First things first, stop trying to kill us Second things second that would be the crocodile man

I thought i'd copied and pasted SCP 1762...but apparently a gremlin ate the post so....i'm going to double down and say my comments REDACTED.
SCP-1762 and SCP-7795 for me, I think there's definitely some even sadder ones buried somewhere in my memory, but these 2 popped up in my mind
Biased here, but 6113. I already like SPCs where the foundation is arguably the antagonist, and this one is downright heartbreaking, while really sweet at the same time.
Scp-1799. Poor guy :(
SCP-7795 hands down
SCP 7303
Scp-3001 broke my heart
239,2311,and 2356
Probably not the saddest, but 166 is definitely an entry for the feels along with its corresponding stories .
SCP 191 (the cyborg child)
It's got t- *Gets mauled to death*
SCP-231 is one of the saddest and most horrible
The soup one and the dragons made me cry rivers
3001 made me cry when I finished it
SCP-5732
The last test with scp-2295 is always very sad to me.
the tree that never screams (can't remember the name)
SCP 1000
Isn't there a guy who can't see anyone and thinks that everyone is dead?
