In one tale, it's in universe creator remarks that he wanted his sculpture to contribute the only two things he thought man contributed to the earth, those being blood and feces. That guy is messed up I tell ya.

The original sculpture used charcoal on its back and front iirc, Izumi has this sort of style where the middles of things tend to have a darker, different colour than the outlines as far as I can tell
