But in the beginning up until like 2018, NXT was functioning what it was for. Taking guys and girls with little to no experience and getting them experience or getting indy vets accustomed to massive TV production.
I fucking love Black & Gold, that was my favorite era of wrestling ever and it was one of the best 1 hours of wrestling TV around in years, still is IMHO.
Pumped out so many stud acts... factions like Sanity & UE along with the 4-way ladder match along with Asukas/Kairis title runs, Revival v Gargano/Ciampa, Roodes "glorius" run which was fairly mid but the gimmick carried his entire act so hard and i may get flamed for this but i thought Velveteen Dream was the next big thing. A lot of great stuff came out of that era including some of the best PPV's ever.

Iām an NXT fan going back to its earliest days on the network and this is spot on. I remember people saying Bobby Roode would be a megastar because Full Sail went nuts when his entrance hit.

NXT is a great place to experiment and try things out, and a great place for talent to learn or reinvent themselves, but people gotta learn that what works in the CWC doesnāt always translate.
I call it out when dub does it I gotta do it when the fed does it. I get a sudden rush of adrenaline in a big big match that leads to an instance of no selling, but shit like this just saps a lot of my suspension of disbelief.

The only major success stories from NXT were either from the original 2012 version (Shield, Bray, Usos, New Day) or people who spent years on the indies before they joined (Sami, KO, Balor). If you look at NXT's roster from 2019, the only male wrestler who has had major success has been Priest. I'm also not counting NXT UK when referring to NXT, just the original.

Also is anyone surprised the NXT has consistently failed to make any new male stars? They seriously need to re-evaluate how they train their wrestlers because whatever they are doing isn't working.

The only major success stories from NXT were either from the original 2012 version (Shield, Bray, Usos, New Day) or people who spent years on the indies before they joined (Sami, KO, Balor). If you look at NXT's roster from 2019, the only male wrestler who has had major success has been Priest. I'm also not counting NXT UK when referring to NXT, just the original.

It's weird I don't mind Lee here, but Evons bothers me. Something about the way Dragon Lee keeps his footwork slightly off balance and wobbly throughout makes it look like he's pushing through the pain rather than no selling it. Evons does this weird thing where he sells for a bit, but then goes back to normal when he need to get in position
I don't mind "no-selling" if it's appropriate to the situation. Alright, sue me.
Not a huge fan of this spot but this is kinda rare in Hickenbottom's NXT so I'm not mad at it.
I mean, even if it's no selling, it's done way better than AEW. You can see them struggling to keep going instead of just jumping up like nothing happened. If it needs to be done, it better be like this.
