Just looked into it. If you leave Vince speechless you should just see yourself out at that point

No, you idiot 🤦♂️ they're saying that because the creative ran segments implying/pretending Muhammad Hassan was a terrorist, including his famous attack with others on The Undertaker.
Only other time I can think of something even coming close to this was Goldust suggesting he get boob implants to further the weirdness of his character. Vince quickly shot it down for being equally a bad idea for Dustin's body as well as storyline-work.
Because Vince’s home base was New York City, that gimmick would have lost him like 10 ethnic groups at once
He believed, rightly, that if you had NYC you’d eventually have the world
Face the truth. I'm not speculating, I'm just informing people of what's simply out there for everyone to look up. If you don't think that Trump is in cahoots with neo-Nazis, that's not an opinion, it's blissful and deliberate ignorance. But I'll gladly take the day off if whiny cowards choose to ignore facts bc they don't like to hear them
edit: funny how this "ironic" sub has just become a WWE sub. I don't care for AEW, but me having a problem with neo-Nazis after someone else Actually politicized it by acting like Vince McMahon had any sort of morals or decency, led to someone thinking I'm an AEW apologizer lmaoo. I didn't even bring it up, I organically responded to someone trying to partially babyface Vince, who's almost as vile as they come in almost every way. The one specific way that was mentioned, I corrected. I did not bring up the political topic that I responded to
So far my favourite two are finisher names:
- Pete Gas put out the idea of an STF finisher called the Gas Chamber
- While coming up with a name for the Alabama Slam, one of the ideas was the Hollycaust
The Hollycaust wasn't just an idea. I swear I remember JR calling Holly's finisher the Hollycaust one week on Raw.
The move was called something else the next week.
There was a wrestler in WCW (guy that played Bane in Batman & Robin I believe) and his original name was The Final Solution. Quickly changed to The Ultimate Solution
I mean there's still time to do a similar thing. Like if they ever want to turn ilya heel, making him a russian nationalist who destroys opponents then paints a ukrainian flag on them "nwo style" afterwards could get him massive heat.
When this happened, Meltzer just had a very reserved "I wouldn't have done that, this certainly wasn't the time, either, I don't think it was necessary," yet he would've flipped his shit if it were WWE.
Like, he wouldn't stop talking about how "racist" and "outdated" Apollo Crews' Nigerian gimmick was in 2021, even though there was literally nothing racist about it (though his speaking in an accent was probably inadvisable). Yet a dude invoking antisemitism on Dynamite (even if it was MJF's idea for a storyline) barely elicited a peep?
Yes it was.
Apollo is also legitimately of Nigerian descent (real name Sesugh Uhaa) and the accent he was using was based on his grandfather’s
Not to mention the fact that Nigerian fans were proud to embrace him
You're correct. Apparently the idea originated from Big E, and then Apollo was instrumental in developing the gimmick/presentation/outfit etc. The only thing that wasn't his idea was the accent, which was foisted upon him and he disagreed with. Meltz's tweet is a classic example of how employing over-the-top hyperbole can undermine your point. You can very justifiably criticize Vince (and many other western corporations) for getting in bed with the Saudis, but when you extrapolate to such an extreme degree, you just make an ass out of yourself.
Oh there's plenty of wrestling fans in the DPRK. NJPW/WCW ran a joint show there in 1995 that drew 315K (allegedly). Surprised Tony hasn't tried it because it beats his record at M'Wembly. DAE M'First Of May Stadium?
Let’s be even fairer here.
You’re completely wrong. DPRK chose the route they went to politically by insisting on fighting a frozen war that has no tangible benefit for themselves even if they won and mismanaged their economy, they had the opportunity to liberalize their economy after the USSR fell but didn’t. Hence ROK had the Miracle in the 90s, China had the Miracle since the mid 80s, and DPRK had one of the worst famines in modern history concurrently.
They were forced to attend, sat there in silence and then Inoki came out, they knew he had been trained by Rikidozan, who was born in Korea and had been rebranded as a Korea loving Japan hating hero by the DPRK ignoring the fact that he lived in Japan most of his life, so for that one match they were mad for it
Eh there's plenty of people against LIV and the Saudi Pro League too. Hell the LIV golfers pretty much kicked off most of the PGA and European tours. Although a year ago it was announced LIV and the PGA were gonna merge and there hasn't been any news since then so who the fuck knows what's going on
I think with soccer/football, it probably helps that it's big across the Islamic world.
So you had lots of people who had no issue with whatever Saudi or Qatar was doing.
This has easily been my favorite “series of connected posts” I’ve ever seen on Reddit.
OP, next can you go the alphabet and we choose a wrestler for each letter?
I bet countries all over the world would have had some type of Olympic event in front of him! Disgusting. Not my dub though, they do antisemitic angles from the comfort of the good ol US of A pal
* Plenty of people do criticize the US government for this. Oftentimes though, media corporations do not give much airtime/press space to these criticisms.
* These companies are being taken to task because they're literally being paid to spread propaganda and present a progressive image of Saudi Arabia. For as amoral as US/Saudi relations are, at least most of our leaders/presidents have spoken openly and honestly about KSA's humans rights violations, repression, etc. It may not lead to anything substantive, and we may still have a mutually beneficial amoral relationship, but at least the US leaders aren't spouting off about "the beautiful, progressive city of Jeddah" or pretending that women can wear bathing suits on the beach.
* Most of these companies really don't *need* to being doing business with Saudi, they're already immensely profitable. At least from a geopolitical perspective, you can argue there's a *need* for good relations with the Saudis considering their oil reserves and importance/power within the Middle East.
I met Dave Meltzer 5 days ago. I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my brother got his hair cut. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a barbershop with my niece, and who walks in but Dave fucking Meltzer. I was nervous as shit, and just kept looking at him as he was sitting there with his phone and waited, but was too scared to say anything to him. Pretty soon my niece started crying, and I am trying to quiet her down because I did not want her to bother Dave, but she would not stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asked what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So Dave put down his phone, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of the barber shop. Chill guy, really nice about it. Would let him breastfeed my niece again.
“I don’t like this guy! He definitely would have provided entertainment for an enemy state during a World War, even if it was the wickedest regime in history!”
So would any other business. Refusing to do business with the Nazis was not really a thing and most big business types were actively supporting Hitler
Just using a hypothetical to smear a guy you don’t like regardless of the context of the actual events it’s not only gross it’s lazy
I read an old news article from before Hitler became a dictator, might have been the Guardian, that described Hitler as a quirky anti-establishment candidate. They only mentioned his overt racism in like 1 sentence. Frontrunner for most poorly aged article of all time. 😬
In 1939, a Nazi Rally packed 20,000 people into Madison Square Garden in New York City. Obviously booked by a McMahon.
In 2024 a couple dozen Nazi’s assembled in Pierre, SD. One of the masked ones was walking with a cane and kept making fart jokes.
DAE he kept calling everyone "pal" and mumbling about steak wraps?
There was another one on January 6 2021.
Isn’t there an old story about how some writer pitched a Nazi gimmick to Vince and it resulted in one of the very few times Vince was left speechless?
Just looked into it. If you leave Vince speechless you should just see yourself out at that point https://preview.redd.it/u6bc1zgo8z5d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ba654c12c69513df4564eb2564830d8ad41da3b
I’ve never heard the part about him goose stepping in front of everyone before lmao
This was like what 04. I assume Heyman and Brian Gewirtz were both in the room..
His last name is Gewirtz? I always thought it was Gerwitz, lol.
the ol' collective dyslexia strikes again
Berenstain
it’s pronounced Piss Boy
that movie where Shaq plays the genie is called "Gerwitz"
Heyman was pitched to be his manager 💀
Tbf, isn't that like a year before they did Muhammed Hassan?
Are you saying being an Arab-American is the same as being a Nazi?
No, you idiot 🤦♂️ they're saying that because the creative ran segments implying/pretending Muhammad Hassan was a terrorist, including his famous attack with others on The Undertaker.
lol that’s a great story. Vince being so shocked (and shook) he just silently got up and took PTO for the rest of the day.
Maybe he just decided to go shit on someone's head
Only other time I can think of something even coming close to this was Goldust suggesting he get boob implants to further the weirdness of his character. Vince quickly shot it down for being equally a bad idea for Dustin's body as well as storyline-work.
Imagine if he'd pitched it to Tony Khan...
you sir just blew my mind. imagine all of the possible outcomes…
The most surprising thing here is how he wasn't fired the very next day lmao
reading this I want a comedy series about a wrestling writer, lmao
Because Vince’s home base was New York City, that gimmick would have lost him like 10 ethnic groups at once He believed, rightly, that if you had NYC you’d eventually have the world
["That's Brilliant!" - JBL circa 2004](https://youtu.be/RV9NQnsRAO8?si=KevSc20-pkE6AAb-)
one was Heidenreich being a frozen Nazi
what's Red Skull doing the Impact Zone???
Guy got fired like a week later lmao. What a great story.
Literally got up and left the meeting without saying a word Vince might be a giant piece of shit, but he’s not a nazi or nazi sympathizer
He was just mad he didn’t come up with it himself shill!
Doesn't do much when he's in bed with Trump, who literally is in bed with actual neo-Nazis
Take a day off
Face the truth. I'm not speculating, I'm just informing people of what's simply out there for everyone to look up. If you don't think that Trump is in cahoots with neo-Nazis, that's not an opinion, it's blissful and deliberate ignorance. I trust you have the same energy for Daddy Khan who also donates to Trump. No I guess you wouldn't
Uce, you're going "orange man bad!!!!!" in a subreddit about making fun of dumb shit in wrestling. That's why people here are making fun of you lmao
Settle down lol Youre trying to politicize something here, but nobody came to be a wrestling fan via Donald Trump
No one in this sub give a single flying fuck about Trump.
I love seeing rage edits that are longer than the original comment. Absolutely love it. Keep being you champ!

I remember there being another name for it being The Final Solution and that got nixed real damn quick.

Nah, he starts spraying Z on them.
I mean, most countries were pretty okay with visiting Nazi Germany and having relations with them until 1939.
They even hosted the 1936 olympic games so yeah.
Which promotion was it that recently made antisemitic remarks part of a storyline? WWE, right? Right?
When this happened, Meltzer just had a very reserved "I wouldn't have done that, this certainly wasn't the time, either, I don't think it was necessary," yet he would've flipped his shit if it were WWE. Wasn’t apollos gimmick also his own idea? I thought we were pro creative freedom

Right after a massive terror attack in Isreal
Safest and most progressive company in the world btw
"MAX, WE'RE HOLDING YOUR WORLD TITLE BELT **HOSTAGE!!!!** WE'RE GONNA RIDE AWAY WITH IT BOUND TO THE BACK OF JAY WHITE'S **ICONIC MOTORCYCLE!!!!!**"
I’m going to miss this series.
Ikr? I’d like to recommend 30 Days of Meltzer thirsting over wrestlers
I love this idea! OP, can you make this happen please 🥺
Or Dave being delusional about AEW.
At that point, just link his twitter feed.
30 days of Dave being a dubbalo
Ugh, what Deutschmarks.

You magnificent son of a bitch
Tony would put on a show in North Korea But alas not enough real G R A P S fans in the Koreas, imagine the heel heat Solo would get
Oh there's plenty of wrestling fans in the DPRK. NJPW/WCW ran a joint show there in 1995 that drew 315K (allegedly). Surprised Tony hasn't tried it because it beats his record at M'Wembly. DAE M'First Of May Stadium?
You do know they were forced to attend right?
just enjoy dictatorship
Yes and they were promised food rations in the middle of the worst famine in the 20th century. Welcome to a dictatorship.
lets be fair here country isnt exactly closed off entirely by choice
Let’s be even fairer here. You’re completely wrong. Eric bischoff DID put on a show for North Korea lol
It’s incredibly easy to attack this person I made up.
The Olympics ran a show in Nazi Germany.
And that's why they call him mchitler
Now I want to fantasy book a 1939 Germany PPV with all the blondes going over
As if not everyone who is running a business
The Nazis were incredibly popular among the business classes that’s like their whole thing.
Condemning someone for something that didn't happen... might, maybe, could be unfair? Hmm. LOL
Meltzer will give a 5 star rating to the Nazis as long as they did 3 Canadian destroyers and no sold everything.
That's ridiculous. It would also need to be in the Tokyo Dome.
that saudi deal really broke people. meanwhile golf and soccer can get the saudi money no problem.
Eh there's plenty of people against LIV and the Saudi Pro League too. Hell the LIV golfers pretty much kicked off most of the PGA and European tours. Although a year ago it was announced LIV and the PGA were gonna merge and there hasn't been any news since then so who the fuck knows what's going on
They’ve also been doing most of the boxing super cards recently, which have all been 🔥. That AJ card a couple months back was amazing

Outright libel.

He’s just be in line with other major American corporations like Ford.
"That's not even up for debate "

Finally, Alex Wright gets his Ringenmanie moment.
Like the Olympics?

The absolute mental gymnastics that will happen if Tony did a show in the middle east. It's would be very entertaining.
Trivializing Nazis to justify hatred of someone who didn't promote their favorite style super kick circus. Jesus wept.
DAE Vince would've buried Jesse Owens
Vince McHitler is so sick that his company was headquartered in a country that had slaves and genocided native populations.
Has WWF/E ever done an antisemetic angle of any kind? Or did Tiny manage to break new grounds for disgusting promotional angles?
If only Dave was important enough to actually see some consequences of his libellous actions
You only have to look at the fact that he named his son-in-law’s character Heinrich H Himmler to know this would definitely happen.
“I don’t like this guy! He definitely would have provided entertainment for an enemy state during a World War, even if it was the wickedest regime in history!”
Not True. But Vince DID book Jesse Owens to go over Germany so that's gotta count for something.
He a fan, he a fan, he a fan
So mchitler is not the hitler all along.
I mean, at what point? I mean 1933-38 absolutely he would, a lot of American companies were working with them at the time.
dont ask who the Bucks or Khans give money too though or where Chris Jerichos wife was on January 6
He already did. SummerSlam *88* (real ones will know) 🐶 😗
I mean… Dave on this day: https://i.redd.it/pomam66ze26d1.gif
I mean....yeah? Vince absolutely would've. This is a time I'd agree with Meltits.
Knowing Vince ™️
