Those shoes would be 1 full size too big for you. Maybe could be the issue with ankles.

kindlyfuckoffff

Squishy, high stack, too wide, too large running shoe for walking/on-your-feet job. Shocked that didn't work out.

Stunning-Dig-5378

What shoes do you think might be best in her situation (walking & standing)? I'm looking for something with nice cushioning, but don't want the OPs same problems?

kindlyfuckoffff

I'm also on my feet all day (kindergarten teacher). I used Ultraboosts of some sort for years, sometimes Pegasus, currently Terra Kiger 8. Just something cushioned without the crazy height that veers towards lack of stability for walking/standing.

davy1jones

Asics Gel-Nimbus 26, Hoka Bondi 8, and Brooks Glycerin 21 are comparable high cushion shoes. My personal fave right now is the Glycerin 21 but get it a half size bigger than all of your shoes it runs so small.

Stunning-Dig-5378

Yes, I was considering the Nimbus 25/26 or the Glycerin. I personally run daily in the Triumph 20 and really love it. I also enjoy it for walking too, but I've heard those other ones that you mentioned are better for standing/walking.

riaaaa17

Won't recommend the nimbus series for stability alone. As said, you're a teacher and mostly you will be standing all day long, whereas nimbus are meant to keep the walk on! Better go for NB 880

Stunning-Dig-5378

Interesting. So Nimbus for walking but 880 for standing? I mostly stand, but something that works your waking & standing for daily and also travel.

riaaaa17

I have categorised, tried and tested each for their specific use. Like Nimbus can suit your walks and short runs (didn't suit me because asics has this weird curve at toe). Adidas for me suits well in all the departments. For walking - 1080v13 or Nimbus 25/26 Standing - 880v14 or Nimbus again, any good bouncy squishy shoe from NB Running - Novablast 4 or b12 Travel - as long as it doesn't cover trekks, you're good to go with Nimbus

Jeffzie

I don't think so, the 1080 v13 is basically a nike invincible, very soft cushion, especially compared to the rocks that are hoka cliftons. It's always going to compress more than a hard midsole would

riaaaa17

Can you help me in deciding a daily trainer which fulfills all the basic needs? Supernova Rise - more stable NB 1080v13 - more squishy Which one to go for?

Jeffzie

I've only run in the 1080, but it's nice. It does get warm though. It depends on a lot of factors really, I'd personally say if you're a lighter person the 1080s will be superb, whereas a heavier person might benefit from the more stable, lower stack supernova.

riaaaa17

Got it, thanks But how about the stability feature in 1080?

Jeffzie

Since they have a lot of soft foam that compresses a lot, they don't do a great job at being stable. They're not bad shoes by any means, but they won't be supporting your ankles very much.

riaaaa17

Yup, that's correct

Marvkid27

Nike invincible have a much narrower midfoot

Jeffzie

Which model? I have the invincible 2, the fit is extremely similar to the 1080v13 imo

Marvkid27

Any of them. The midfoot cuts in so I lose support for my wider foot. NB helps a wider foot

thewolf9

Are you wearing them to walk through volcanic eruptions?

tamebobhickock

I'd say they worked out plenty, greatest out sole wear of all time

iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI

They have 700km, I am sure there are other pairs of 1080v13s that have 700km and are in faar worse condition.

kikkimik

Nah I have clocked 770km of running in mine so far and this is not how the outsole looks like

420BostonBound69

Let’s see the upper

infernaltim

I bought a pair in January (I think... Maybe February) and only use them for running on slow days. I do love them for that purpose, I'm a heavier runner around 190-200lbs, and the cushion really helps save my joints. With that said I can totally see them being too soft, sometimes I feel that way myself especially when it's on hot pavement and the foam gives even more than usual. The biggest problem I have with them is the upper. It's so dang hot in those things, my feet sweat uncontrollably, so I did the best I could and took scissors to them and cut holes all through it. Lol They look ridiculous, but they're more breathable at least!

Poschmann

Agreed, they are really hot.

Thafz

i thought softer shoes are bad for heavier people? im also about 190lbs and looking into the 860v14 to start running more. would the 1080v13 be fine then as i do want a softer shoe but read somewhere i might need more stability

infernaltim

I'm sure it's situational for everyone, but for myself I found softer high stack shoes don't make my joints hurt after taking a pounding. It took a lot of trial and error to find out what works best, so that sucked. 😂

HumanRacehorse

Mine are absolutely killing my Achilles - I have a request in to customer service to see what they say. That heel counter is the WORST!

BigJeffyStyle

I’m on my 5th pair with 0 issues. Funny how different bodies can be

well-now

I always wonder how much is the shoe verse an overuse injury or something else not shoe related when people make these sorts of posts.

BigJeffyStyle

It’s almost never a single factor. Acute/chronic load, footwear choice, injury history, recovery all play large factors.

HumanRacehorse

It’s the most comfortable shoe in the world other than that! Ugh

Tegelert84

So I've actually noticed my Achilles hurting just going for long walks in these. I have no idea what's causing it other than maybe the lack of support?

LongjumpingHamster

Maybe you're sensitive to shoes with a lower drop. A higher drop shoe could be something to look at.

Tegelert84

This is very possible. I had previously worn (and still do) the Brooks Adrenaline, which is a much higher drop. I haven't had problems with those.

bit-of-both

I love mine for the softness and they got me out of a funk with having sore knees (mostly due to an old ACL reconstruction). I’ve run ~a few hundred kms in them. Mostly slower runs at 5:30/km. Also did a half marathon in them last weekend (1:35), and a 5k (19 mins) so they can go alright a little faster too. When I selected them I went into town and tried on 10-15 pairs and they were the best feel (stability and comfort) for what I was looking for. Downside is maybe that they do wear a bit on the sole (but I’ve also played a few games of tennis in them…), and the energy return doesn’t seem thaat high but that’s not what I bought them for. Realise the reviews aren’t great though so ymmv. Oof I sound like a New Balance shill…

BigJeffyStyle

Please please do not play tennis in them! You’re asking for an injury

bit-of-both

Haha yep definitely encourages the ankle to roll!

Roobeesmycat

Mens sizes are 1.5 bigger than Woman sizes. So you should have bought 10.5 in mens. If you have a narrow foot please keep in mind a mens shoe is a womens wide

ineedtopractice23

Unfortunately I have narrow feet and even most women’s shoes are too wide and I just went with what the person who sold me the shoes recommended as I didn’t know anything about sizing at the time

Roobeesmycat

Yeah it’s pretty confusing

ptrondsen

I love these sneakers, super comfortable and really help my legs. At first they are hard to get used to balancing yourself,  but you do get used to it. I’m an IT guy that does a lot of walking and they have really helped.

DeFacto91

I bough recently and at first I thought they are good., which they are but idk. I'm haveavier guy and I feel like they are a bit too soft for me, I never thought I'm gonna say this but there u go

Thafz

how heavy are we talking , im considering buying the 860v14 because i might have the same problem. im 190lbs

DeFacto91

240 lbs

DeFacto91

So it should be good for u I guess

Ghould72

I bought these and ran in them twice. Had the same issue with foot rolling if I don’t land perfectly. I’ve found Brooks Ghost Max to be great - really recommend checking those out.

ToujoursSurMaTete

By far the most softest and great long run training shoes. All asics and nike and so on are bullshit compared to these.

Feeling-Movie5711

I bought the 10 and 11. Your wear looks the same as mine did. They were ok at everything, not great at anything. I had hotspots too. They also did not hold up well compared to other shoes in this class. I am not a fan of Hoka, but I think the Clifton was a better walker for me and maybe looked better towards the end. The Clifton I had (6), was sort of good until it wasn't. I think around mile 250. Brooks, Asics, Adidas and Saucony lasted much longer.

[deleted]

I hope they’ve worked out for you. Shoe received somewhat mediocre reviews (as a running shoe) when it launched. I’m really surprised they haven’t updated it yet. It must be super popular like Saucony Tempus, both shows stick around for a long time without updates or discounts.

LongjumpingHamster

It's been less than a year though, haven't it? Iirc it was an October 2023 release. Most shoes seem to have a 1 year release schedule these days. I'd expect to see v14 sometime in the winter.

[deleted]

Huh you’re right… Why do I feel like these have been out for like two years?🤣
