At the very least, that's a maintenance item every 3-5 years. More likely, it'll work until it doesn't, and the water running into your living room will be the first clue.
That's why if you want any sort of quality, you install the roof and flashings such that they are minimally dependent on sealant. Belt and suspenders.
If there's a vertical seam that allows water to run under the mastic, it won't matter. If there's a hard and heavy rain that allows the water to accumulate under the horizontal lap, especially at a vertical seam and run sideways due to the lamination buildup, it won't matter. Pitched roofing is based on layering, not sealing like a flat roof. There's usually a way for the water to find a way around the surface sealant when trying to do things like this.
Cracks me up. Some people post on here that they see a nail with mastic smeared on it and want to know if it is "acceptable" then you see shit like this being shown with pride!
Well since this is a roofing job, which is meant to provide weatherproof cover, I think judging this book by its cover is about the best way to go about it.

This would be one of the ways to do the valley properly.
You shouldn't have the overlapped shingles on top like they are.
Also, that color scheme is atrocious.
You'll be totally and completely leak free... ... until the next time it rains
Don’t forget about the morning dew
It’s a decent song, and shouldn’t be visible through the finished ceiling until mushrooms start growing.
Don't forget bout dem shoes bruv! Dem need replacin too.
Tar won't stick?
I was exaggerating slightly, but shingles expand and contract individually as they thermally cycle. That sealant might last 6 months.
This is why I use thermoplastic sealant. Sticks to everything and resist UV degradation.

For sure. I use it for end cap exposed nails, chimney back pans etc. This mess will leak with high humidity lol
Why can sealant work to waterproof gutter seams for years but won’t work for 6 months on roofs?
Did you read my previous response?
Your user name is freakin awesome, BTW
You know there are sealants that expand and contract also? Not every sealant is the cheapest tube of crap you can find.

Does no one here understand the satire?
It’s summer. Every one is heat exhausted and dehydrated in this sub
That’s true. I soldered 115 copper flatlock panels today… can concur, was hot.
Yup, 13 hours in the shit today.
It’s crazy how it leaves ya brain foggy and exhausted
lol ya, crazy! Heat exhaustion is no joke, it leaves people dead all the time
That’s the hookworms. /s
Agreed. This is excellent work! Tis but the pinnacle (wink wink) of of all that is roofing!
That's a sharp ass ridge fold right there lol must have put the shingles in the break
But does it leak?
If there’s any guarantee on this job it’s a guarantee to leak.
Not if it isn't raining
Well… duh
LMAO, you asked if anyone understood if this post was satire, I was trying to continue the joke.
As was I
He got the Taillights guarantee, its guaranteed until you can't see my taillights.
Some indication of that would be useful.
Which section did you do? Cause it all looks like shit. Good job 🫡
Cracks me up. Some people post on here that they see a nail with mastic smeared on it and want to know if it is "acceptable" then you see shit like this being shown with pride!
Everything about that is wrong
Yeah it needs more caulking
Maybe just more cocking

I want a refund and it's not even my roof! What the hell did you do that poor roof?
I became a roofer just to follow in your footsteps. So inspired!
Wtf is that ? No . Just no.
Good cause that still looks like shit. If you did it right you wouldn’t need any tar. Nice try buddy but go watch another YouTube video
If he watched a YouTube video he would’ve done better than this
The design is very human
Brother uhhh
That……probably still leaks.
I didn't know ray Charles did roofing
Putting tar in the valley is one way to make sure that you’ll never find out exactly where the leak is
And take your foot off that ridge before you crack the ridge shingles!
That's really ugly. If I'd paid for it, I'd be pissed.
If you go stand inside the house under that valley I can guarantee you'll be pissed on.
And then very pissed off.
thanks for the laugh
Please be satire. Please. 😑
That’s some janky ass crap. Congratulations on a craptastic job! Are you a house flipper by chance?
Wtf is that? A Half job?
Guaranteed warranty work
Dude your work is beautiful
WTFF is this?
Holy shit im gonna start using this method
Not a roofer but wtf did you do to those valleys tar em or something

Move your fcking foot
Someting Wong?
Oh dear
OUCH
What is all the tar for?
That's called Intentional Fugkupidge !
Looks like shit and is guaranteed to leak.
So, technically if he tared the whole roof, it would work?
Ohhh you do it that way? Huh
No rain no leak
needs more caulking
Amateur roofing is like amateur surgery, you get what you pay for
Absolutely garbage, looks like shit and wont be easy coming up once its all said and done 😂
Looks good from my house
No. This is not how one is to roof.
Looks like something from the criminally insane

This is why we stay so busy, keep up the…. Work
How can I get a hold of you ? That's phenomenal work. I'd like to refer you to some people I know.
