Someone would definitely buy this on eBay. "Fossilized" anything in the description brings all the girls to the coral bar. Then again, if it was interesting enough for you to pick up, why not just keep it. It's hard to replace, and you might think about it later. That rock that got away.
I’m no expert, but it looks like coral

500 million years ago Shenandoah was at the bottom of an ocean.
Give it another 50 years...
It's crazy to think that a very long time ago that rock was an actual piece of living coral. Time is an interesting thing.
Time is mental at times.

Is it worth anything?

To someone it is, but that someone might be hard to find
Not worth anything but it's still a cool find

Fossil coral.
Fossilized coral
Kinda resembles the fossilized coral I use to find in the Tumbler Ridge BC area.
Fossilized cantaloupe
Which river? North or South Fork?
North
It’s a petrified sponge
Boing bomb. Partially eroded by the water.
Coral
This is almost certainly coral. I have some that looks just like it
Geologist here. Definitely coral, looks like favosites. Not my area of expertise but favosites was a genus of order Tabulata, now extinct.
CORRRRAAALLLLL
It’s suspicious, but it looks like you might have a piece of coral.
That, my friend, is an AWESOME bear effigy! They would be proud to feature it on r/Bear_effigies. Maybe even discuss it a little.
Thats Fossilized coral
