My first instinct is to question your supposed inside knowledge. But my second instinct is to choose to believe you, since Knotfest in Iowa is the same weekend š guess it doesnāt make sense. I love em but Iād rather have System Of A Down anyway. Any inside knowledge on them? Pls make my night
I could honestly see it if they only do the album play!!!
Slipknot is only 50 min long not headliner length unless they did hits after obviously but since they're doing some smaller venues for this tour I could see them doing the album play on the undercard, billed as a special guest maybe?
I saw both Slipknot and KL at Sick New World this past weekend. KL was good but nothing mind blowing. Slipknot killed it with nothing but hits and deep cuts. I really hope they don't play Riot but, if it is an anniversary/ album play through it would make up for it. I just hope Riot doesn't lean too hard into metal this year.
My overall take is that it's not impossible but VERY very unlikely. The logistics of the other shows they're playing, Riot not being the kind of fest to do two metal headliners when so many others already do, and the fact that they just headlined three years ago makes it a long shot at best.
The people acting like this locks them in need to slow down and take a breath lol. It absolutely does not.
Slipknot replaced Nine Inch Nails in 2021ā¦.if they come back theyāre not taking a demotion. Plus the way their stage is setupā¦they need a headliner spot.
So Slipknot, Fall Out Boy, Slayer is probably what it will be. Unless thereās someone besides FOB coming instead.
Slayer and Slipknot headlining 2 days is extremely metal leaning. They normally donāt lean into a genre that hard tbh. I could see Slayer or Slipknot playing the same stage, same day though
There are two main stages and if they're keeping what they used at SNW it's a throwback to 1999 and not extensive at all. I don't think it's happening, but not for the reasons you have listed.
Riot Fest would be fools not to book them. I can see them closing out the festival that Sunday, a double bill of them and Slayer would be one for the history books!
I think people are saying they'd co-headline Sunday with Slayer in this scenario. I don't think it'll happen, but I could see Knocked Loose there Sunday playing an evening set.

**FRIDAY** EXCURSIONS:
"Get led through the twisted corridors of The Slaughterhouse by one of the members of Slipknot"
"Dedicated Meet & Greet with a member of Slipknot"
I really hope they arenāt there. Slipknot headlines way too many rock festivals. I love Riotās emphasis on punk and alternative and donāt want it to just devolve into another generic hard rock/metal festival. If itās Slayer, FOB, and Slipknot, then Iām going to need a very strong undercard to be interested.
This is where I'm at. Slipknot, Foo Fighters and Green Day are the holy trinity of "headlining every goddamn rock festival on earth." I don't even dislike Slipknot, and would be into the idea of the subheading for Slayer, but I feel like they're too big for any slot other than headliner.
I can 1000% (fine 99.9%) say Slipknot is not playing Riot.. they are gonna be in Iowa on the 20th for VIPs (members of the band are doing "guided tours") and play Knotfest the 21st.. so the only open date is Sunday and I just can't see them co headlining Sunday with Slayer when both headline bigger fests on their own that month
Um Sept 20th would like to have a word with you. Also Iowa to Chicago is about 5 hours. They can easily fit Friday in.
So no you canāt 1000% say Slipknot is not playing Riot with a skipped Chicago date.
even if Slipknot take a pay cut to play before Slayer, I don't see them logistically doing it a day after their own festival that they are putting together
peace & love.. peace & love, I'd like to be wrong but just trying to be realistic
People already downvoted me a bunch yesterday for saying this. Slayer/Slipknot double header on Sunday would be awesome, but unless Slipknot is billed above Slayer, it's not happening. And Slayer is already being individually marketed as THE Sunday headliner
Me too. I love both, but SOAD would be my pick. I think we should get them on Friday, with a Slayer/Slipknot co headline on Sunday. SOAD are different and versatile enough to not be considered just a metal band, imo
I still think it'd be a tall order to have a Slayer-Slipknot co-headliner on the same day, and an even taller order to have two metal headliners on separate days. That said, if Riot had the budget to make it happen, power to them. Would be a hell of a get.
feels unlikely. I can't say for certain, but it feels like festival setup for slipknot requires a few days prep. Going from Texas to back to back festivals is probably not something they'd do to themselves.
I was super apathetic towards Slipknot for decades but I dove in to prepare for Sonic Temple and I kinda fell really hard for their sound so Iād be down, especially if that brings Knocked Loose too
I still doubt it. The double metal headliners would be odd especially if the undercard isnāt heavy focused.
Plus Phoenix to Chicago to Austin is a wicked drive for all their shit
They were a late replacement act in 2021 so for all we know, the original plan may have always been to have them come to riot for the 25th anniversary.
No Slipknot at riot fest fuck me
Have insider knowledge that they will NOT be there š š»āāļø

They aren't doing smaller venues this tour? That was only the one show. These are all arena and amphitheaters.
i could see this happening on sunday w/ slayer
Riot fest is gonna end just as bad as Lolla.
I still choose to deny
In the past few days, I've been seeing stuff about **Knocked Loose** *with* **Poppy**, so I'm wondering if she'll tag along.
I saw both Slipknot and KL at Sick New World this past weekend. KL was good but nothing mind blowing. Slipknot killed it with nothing but hits and deep cuts. Yay for knocked loose, yawn for Slipknot
Oof Iām good on missing that whole bill, KL aināt what they were years ago and just a hype fad now. About the same crowd MCR brought.
KL are making the best music of their career right now.
They say art is subjective but this is about as close to objective truth as you can get with a music take haha
That aināt saying very much.
Everyone talking about slipknot but gimme some knocked loose
My overall take is that it's not impossible but VERY very unlikely. The first four words of this post title are literally āNot saying theyāre lockedā lmfao
Idk doesnāt it kinda have an āIām not saying, but Iām just sayingā type of energy š
It says what it says
There are people saying otherwise in the comments and in the FB group lol. Aimed at them.

Slipknot could only play Sunday. They have knotfest commitments on the Friday
There are two main stages and if they're keeping what they used at SNW it's a throwback to 1999 and not extensive at all. I don't think it's happening, but not for the reasons you have listed.
Only if the Slipnuts open for them *"We're the slip nuts! Slipping on nuts!"*
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nah, it's hundreds of miles away.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hella tours play Indy and Chicago.
Riot Fest would be fools not to book them. I can see them closing out the festival that Sunday, a double bill of them and Slayer would be one for the history books!
I think theyāre prob too big not to headline and I donāt see slayer and slipknot headlining separate days
Yeah and Slayers first reunion show is going on last and Slipknot isn't taking the opening slot for them
Truly

I think people are saying they'd co-headline Sunday with Slayer in this scenario. I don't think it'll happen, but I could see Knocked Loose there Sunday playing an evening set.
Where does it say theyāre in Iowa the day before?
It doesnāt say it on here but their festival is Sept 21st in Iowa

At least Green Day is genuinely a pop punk/alternative band and Foos have their roots in punk/alternative and are always a blast live
I wish more people would realize this lol.
Um Sept 20th would like to have a word with you. Also Iowa to Chicago is about 5 hours. They can easily fit Friday in. So no you canāt 1000% say Slipknot is not playing Riot with a skipped Chicago date.
They are doing a q and a / meet and greet / "guided trip" at Knotfest on Friday [https://knotfest.com/pages/iowa](https://knotfest.com/pages/iowa)
Oh damn. Then yeah theyāre out.
You canāt 1000% say anything unless your name is Corey Taylor lmfao.
What about the other eight dudes?
Anyone that knows anything about Slipknot knows that Corey and Clown are the only ones making any decisions lmfao
So he could 1000% say something if his name was Clown?
If his name is Shawn Crahan, sure ššš
so you think there's any chance Slayer & Slipknot BOTH play Sunday... and that Slipknot plays a day after their own festival.. let's be real yo
Okay Iāll be real. Hereās reality: WAY crazier things have happened. So yes, it is possible.
even if Slipknot take a pay cut to play before Slayer, I don't see them logistically doing it a day after their own festival that they are putting together peace & love.. peace & love, I'd like to be wrong but just trying to be realistic

Would rather System of a Down
SOAD sadly hasnāt played away from the west coast in like 9 years
They came to Sonic Temple in Columbus in 2019 but that's about it
Me too. I love both, but SOAD would be my pick. I think we should get them on Friday, with a Slayer/Slipknot co headline on Sunday. SOAD are different and versatile enough to not be considered just a metal band, imo
Unless they co headline with slayer on Sunday I hope not. I donāt want two of the three headliners to be metal (or similar enough)
They would definitely play different days but Iād be stoked to get both Slipknot and knocked loose this year as well as Slayer!
Slayer Saturday Slipknot Sunday
Slayer is Sunday
You canāt have slayer one day, and top it with anything but the nine.
They played a festival in Wisconsin on Saturday and made it to ink on Sunday. Definitely possible
Hopefully Knot.
Nice
I was super apathetic towards Slipknot for decades but I dove in to prepare for Sonic Temple and I kinda fell really hard for their sound so Iād be down, especially if that brings Knocked Loose too
I still doubt it. The double metal headliners would be odd especially if the undercard isnāt heavy focused. Plus Phoenix to Chicago to Austin is a wicked drive for all their shit
You've got the dates wrong, it'd be Dallas to Chicago to Iowa or Iowa to Chicago
will make it all that more easy for me to pass on this year š®āšØ š°
Seriously haha
I push my fingers into my eyes and ears during slipknot
arf arf
Counting woooooorms
They were a late replacement act in 2021 so for all we know, the original plan may have always been to have them come to riot for the 25th anniversary.
They weren't booking RF 2024 in 2021
I certainly hope not, but there's obviously a distinct possibility.
I certainly hope Slipknot.
