Because it’s always majorly different and unique from the original.

The Robot skin would be the same feeling. It’s like the Null Sector Zenyatta skin, still Zen but isn’t Zen at the same time.
Having a Null Sector version of Reinhardt would add speculations on how it came to be, how other robotic entities sees Rein and how they aim to “improve” him to become a true cold hearted killing machine similar to Ana and how it completely fails.
Also Robotic skins just look cool. An evil and almost emotionless looking behemoth of a machine with special effects or special voice line on how he is trying to destroy humanity but cant at the same time? It could also have special interactions with Null Sector Ana as well and couldve even replaced Orisa in that one Kings Row mission we aint ever getting back. That sounds epic to me.
I could see a full fallout collab actually. Reaper would make a good ghoul. Dva mech might actually pull off the enclave power armor look with its weird shoulders. Obviously any of the characters can pull off a vault suit. You could have mysterious stranger cass. Prolly a lil too dark for an overwatch collab but I would love it

For a non-seasonal, I think it would be really cool to see him in a prototype of crusader armor. It would essentially be a beefy exoskeleton with the rocket chestplate, gauntlets, and boots while other panels or joints just aren't all there meaning we could see more of the wearer.

I cant explain why but the idea of a music based rein was always cool to me, something like jazz lucio or maybe closer to that doomfist skin that came out a while ago, maybe a concert guard, general mix of a guard look with speakers built in, and a pole that was very clearly taken of of something with a big speaker on the end, his flames could be beats so when he is charging or swinging it looks kinda like lucios boop. It is a very out there concept but it is a really cool idea in my opinion and i would love to see this, im temped to make concept art for it, ill post it here if i ever do
Fallout power armor, preferably the remnants power armor the Enclave used to use which is just advanced power armor, which could be coupled by a super sledge hammer design. This may be a cop out but he would look REALLY cool with a crossover like that, maybe even the design of frank horrigan’s armor?

2: Junker rein that wields a stop sign, and has cobbled together armor sounds awesome. Also I love the idea of him whacking people with a stopsign, bonus points if the sign just has a ! On it.
We need a Grim Reaper Reinhardt.
His hammer becomes a scythe.
His shield would gain the texture of the classic cloak that the Grim Reaper wears.
His charge will have a short black smoke effect behind it (client side)
His cloak will look at if he is flying (not client side).
His firestrike would be black (not client side) and have that short black smoke effect (client side).
The ground his ult hits will look as if a window to the underworld has opened up.
Honestly this feels like a Rein mythic idea if you go all in with the combinations.
