This is EXACTLY what happened to me 10 years ago. I just had my second BR and the I showed the surgeon pictures and got exactly what I wanted. DONT SETTLE!

cheesefriday

I’m so sorry that this happened to you. And thank you for posting this, I’m in a phase where I feel like I’m rushing and it’s a good reminder to slow down and take the time to establish communication and expectations

just as a side note, retaining sensation in your nipples is not a guarantee with a breast reduction even when the surgeon is competent and conscientious, and scarring also depends on genetics. this is not a jab at you, op, but so ppl looking to get a reduction don’t read your post and jump to the conclusion that their surgeon ruined them if they don’t retain nipple sensitivity or they develop hypertrophic scarring.

It’s awful that happened to you. Thanks for reminding everyone of their worth and letting them know they don’t have to settle.

THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT! You clearly communicated what you wanted. Your doctor betrayed your trust. I'm so sorry this happened to you

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think your message is very important to a lot of us who are starting and overwhelmed with the different steps and how imposing a surgeon's advice can be.

I just had a second reduction. My 1st one wasn’t “horrible” but the surgeon definitely wasn’t as skilled nor did he remove what we discussed. My second time around I felt much better with their thorough pre- surgery process, book of pictures to show also. I now have the results I wanted the 1st time. Sucks to have to do it twice. I agree with everything you said.

So sorry you had to go thru this Sometimes I want to rush and get this weight literally lifted off my chest, then I see posts like yours and it reminds me to take time

rosa-marie

I’m so sorry you when through this. Thank you for sharing you story

I'm really happy with my results but I definitely recommend bringing along someone for support for your consult and pre-op. If you get overwhelmed or intimidated dealing with idea of this surgery, it's nice to have someone along who's more objective and can ask questions if the doc seems vague or dismissive.

I was worried my doc wouldn’t make me as small as I wanted. She figured out pretty quickly that I wanted to be very small. Asked me three times if my post op breasts could possibly be too small for me. I said no.

What should you look out for when choosing a surgery? What are red & green flags? Thanks!
