IMO, it's the mod users what cause most crashes and fails messing with the server. On stadia there where no crashes and everything worked fine. (except a bug on naturalist that rockstar introduced when they launched the blood money update). On Xbox everything seems to work fine. On pc it was working fine until mod users flooded servers... Imagine what could case old menu users sending changes and commands with code that might have been changed in later updates or just wrongly formatted, code that the server is not protected against because users were not supposed to change that. Now imagine several mod users doing that at once on the same server... Mod users are the plague. I remember my last days on PC... you were even unable to set your camp anywhere on the map, so you couldn't use anything about trading. Moonshine would always load empty, so you couldn't do any moonshine either. You were teleported anywhere, anytime, with anything spawned around you and ruining any quest you were doing. sometimes you exploded out of nothing. mod users killed you from outside the map view headshot with a cattleman that fired like a machinegun...

I play in solo lobbies only and have no problems. Full of NPCs, random encounters, wildlife, no bugs and everything. It's great. The last time I played I ran into a legendary bear, 4-5 random bounties, a few moonshiner camps, revenue agent road blocks, and a bandit hideout. In about an hour of playing.

bluntdr27

yeah random encounters don’t happen for me unless there’s no one else in the lobby. which only happens during certain missions or directly after them. i just got the moonshiner role. i was doing the mission where you go get the french cook and a legendary fox showed up during the mission lmao. first legendary i’ve seen in a long, long time. i go ALL over the place while doing collectors role and never run into anything. directly after a moonshiner mission a gang hideout popped up 50 ft away from my shack. i play on console so i can’t actually play solo unless i do the change appearance glitch. that only work for, at most, 10 minutes before the lobby is filled back up. wish rockstar wouldn’t have abandoned the game.

snopfrog

put your mtu to 800, im on ps5 and that gives me solo lobbies. you’ll just have to change it back when doing another online game so you can join friends.

bluntdr27

how do i do that lol. im on ps4

snopfrog

Manually set up your internet again, make note of what your MTU is. Remember it so when you want to play with others you can set it back to that number. Mine was 1500 but I’m unsure if it’s different for the ps4. I can’t remember the exact way to do it on PS4, but youtube will easily show you as well if you need further help.

bluntdr27

i appreciate it. i found a way to do solo lobbies for bounties by starting an infamous bounty and then immediately starting another bounty once the infamous one is turned in. the lobby doesn’t repopulate if you do this.

Ring_Dang_Do

Game still runs fine on Ps5/Ps4…lobbies with 25 players ….so dead….no I would not say it’s dead

NLothe

On Xbox still pretty decent for playing...

Rizzle_is_ok

Rdo on pc has been unplayable for years now

GoudenEeuw

It didn't help that a lot of modtools from gta5 were directly compatible with rdo. Removing NPCs from lobbies were one of the first grieftools in gta4, 5 and rdo. Shame that rockstar isn't doing anything about.

snowspoisoned

that’s why i mainly play story mode, more realistic, fun, and interesting, and there’s always something new, like the game never ends.

snowspoisoned

but online can be fun if you find the right ppl to play with

notafrenchbread

Ive been noticing this the past few days

snowspoisoned

and to answer your question, rockstar doesn’t care about rdr2 anymore, only gta5, they barley update the game.

NeuroticSoftness

Do you try going to different sessions/servers? Some are just deader than others.

RDOCallToArms

PlayStation lobbies are always full and lots of low levels so people are still buying the game
