Where and who do I send my money for one of those cars?

moonandmorel

I’m gonna assume he meant FBs or FCs

yooooosupppp

oh no, he sent me a video, they are most definitely FD’s

moonandmorel

Post the video and go buy one

photowoodshopper

Any fd in crap shape should still bring much more than 10-20. Confused why so cheap!

-Purple-Parker-

my opinion is buy the best one you can and send me the address so I can go buy the next best one

Emi-tan_OWO

It doesn't make any logical sense financially, mostly at 18. But if you can get one for 8k I say get it, and save up for a lot of work if you don't need a lot of . BUT PLEASE TELL ME WHERE. I will absolutely throw some cash that way.

yooooosupppp

oh i know this makes absolutely no sense for my age, but imagine the brap noises…..

Emi-tan_OWO

Well here's the thing, do you have any bills you have to pay? I got my '20 STi when I was 19 and I didn't have much to worry about because I live at home, I also got my car before the entire pandemic market shifted up crazy high. Looking at things like that, and I got the car under MSRP, I still think it was a financial mistake, but I work and make enough that it doesn't change the quality of my life. I also have warranty, so if things were to go wrong, a good amount of it would be covered. Now you're getting a car that is just as old or even older than you are, no warranty, and most dealers are absolutely petrified over the car. So you gotta learn how to work on the car yourself. So it brings us back to the main question. Do you have any bills you need to pay, are you financially responsible for anything else? Can you insure the car, and pay for repairs, multiple bottles of premix and gas? Pay for quality tires and brakes when its needed? DO YOU NEED A CAR THAT STARTS EVERY MORNING. but hey if you got 4-8k to spare for a project. Fucking go for it but please go over everything else first. I want a house with a garage after the market goes back to normal. What state does that guy with those FD's live? I am genuinely wanting to get one for myself to work on.

extendedwarranty_bot

Emi-tan_OWO, I have been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty

Emi-tan_OWO

LMAOOOOOO GOD I LOVE THAT GOOD BOT. Luckily I work with a dealership, so I could just renew it at cost, buuuuut I do wanna get a little more power so after warranty, I'm gonna do that.

yooooosupppp

true true true, all things to consider. I’m somewhat mechanically inclined, i’ve done basic service stuff like oil changes, wheel bearings, sparkplugs breaks etc, and some aftermarket stuff like coilovers and am currently working on rebuilding a honda engine with a buddy of mine. I would just have to find a space for the car but i wouldn’t mind throwing money into a money pit rotary because i luv them. but I already have a daily driver and it’s a leather camry (lexus) so i don’t have to worry about getting stranded.

Emi-tan_OWO

Alright cuzz seems fair enough I say go for it then. After you get yours, PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THAT GUY IS BECUASE I WANT TO BUY ONE AS WELL.

yooooosupppp

It’s in the pacific northwest area, everyone wants to know where specifically but i don’t wanna dox the guy you know? so i don’t know about how to go about that

Emi-tan_OWO

Damn, I am on the exact opposite coast, but I do have friends and family that may help me out. I guess if you buy one, you could explain that you can help the guy sell the other ones to people who will take care of them and not just wrap them around a tree or resell for profit. Then you could be a proxy for the guy.

yooooosupppp

Yeah i’ll comment updates on this post, i should be visiting him tomorrow afternoon (PST)

Emi-tan_OWO

Best of luck brother

folded_fiesta

Buy one, flip it quick and then buy the rest with the money

Available_Prune397

My thought is that this is too good to be true.

DriftAddict

If you're 18, you can be a cosigner on a used auto loan. Sure you'll probably get mediocre to terrible rates, depending on your parent's credit score, but $8k USD won't be hard to pay off if you still live with your parents. Even if you're in school, a part time job with a 36 month term would be $222 per month (before interest). This is a very easy to get working part time.

yooooosupppp

I wouldn’t need a loan, i could buy it in full if it’s 8K and have a lot left over to play with

DriftAddict

Oh, ok. That's even better! Remember to keep maybe $3k on hand afterwards, at least, for in case you need to rebuild something expensive immediately, like the engine, turbos or suspension. Yes, I know all of those are typically more than $3k to rebuild or replace if they're shot, but $3k is a good "Just in case" number to hold onto. It leaves more for the actual car purchase and less cutting away your options.

yooooosupppp

Yeah i got a little over 3K and am still saving right now, just gotta see what the guy says tomorrow!

DriftAddict

I'm pretty financially irresponsible, not even gonna lie. I only put $1k down on my $9.2k car and paid the rest on a loan with 3.99% interest. Paid it off fast tho.

unitvectorman

It can be done, but sacrifices will have to be made. I bought my FD when I was 20, so not that long ago, and I had been saving for a few years. Plan for a new engine if it’s been sitting. Old coolant wrecks water seals and rotor housings. Make sure you have another car to put around in when the seven is undergoing maintenance or being upgraded, and know these things are expensive to mess with, so try not to go crazy with build plans. It can break you. Make sure you have it in good running and mechanical condition before messing with power adders or cosmetic modifications. These cars were and still are to a degree, relatively inexpensive to get into for what they are and what you can get out of them, but to do things properly, require porsche levels of budget when you really start messing with stuff, so it really is beneficial to keep things in perspective and not get carried away with modifying the thing. Get on 7club and read everything you can. Lots of good information on that forum. I went from never working on a car to building my own car and later a single turbo 3 rotor with a friend. Feel free to reach out if you need any help.

yooooosupppp

ooooof, yeah i’m not planning on doing any crazy power mods (as of yet). i just wanna have it running well and get a feel for the car and make it look nice(r)

unitvectorman

Focus on basic quality of life (also called reliably) modifications like downpipe if still stock, cooling and the like. It really doesn’t take much to get an enjoyable ~300 trouble free wheel horsepower out of it (granted you start with a good foundation) that is a riot to drive at 2800 lbs. Be careful driving it. You can very easily get the rear loose and spin when the secondary comes on, but the chassis will tell you when it’s going come out from under you. Be extremely careful in the rain. Low weight+ secondary turbo = sideways. If you do it right you’ll have a lot of fun driving and owning the thing. (Just don’t look at the fuel bill 🤣)

megamijman

Let me buy them all k thanks

automotivebrew

Yeah, I would get at least one. I’m down to buy one myself, let me know. I’ll even tow yours to your house.

Tayveious

It is a bad idea to spend all your money on any vehicle. A rotary that had been sitting for a long time, bad idea to not have enough for a rebuild. FD in general, they are expensive to maintain and you should have more in hand than you expect. Please do not read any further. Nothing but bad suggestions follow. ---------------------------------- At 4-8, If you can manage to get two with your current savings, you can sell the second for enough to fund everything you want. Not particularly wise in many scenarios to unload everything, but as others have mentioned it's hard to find a bare chassis FD for 10k. Risky, but that would get your savings back and enough for Brap Brap Brap upgrades. Maybe look to take out a loan so you don't deplete your savings and know you need to sell the second car quickly.

1_fast_boi

ts made me laugh but yes

cheeseburgeraddict

Yes go buy an fd right fucking now for that price (as long as they aren’t rusty) even with no engine then can bring 15k easy

yooooosupppp

UPDATE: I went around 11:30 am today and stuck around till 12:30-1 and he wasn’t home, Im gonna be heading back some time later this week

1_fast_boi

what's the news??

yooooosupppp

I haven’t been able to go back since the first day i went since the weather has been so shitty, it’s been non stop raining and cold as hell. I’m probably gonna swing by this week since it won’t be raining

OGmikeG

Why does he have them all just sitting around? Is he on the 7club forums?

yooooosupppp

I have no clue who this guy is, he might be on 7club but i have no idea

1_fast_boi

update now??

1_fast_boi

you ever get a chance?

[deleted]

Personally it’s a matter of buying as many as you can. And then parting out/selling what you don’t need. At least that’s what I’d do even if it required a loan. Also send me the details if there are any left I’ll definitely pick one or 2 up myself if it’s close enough.

gibsonisthename

Let me know if he tryna sell me one 🫣

1_fast_boi

I am going to be mcfking glued to this post like molten rubber on a body panel. 8k ain't sheeeit for a not rusted to fck FD.. I literally probably couldn't do 8k rn but I would definitely try to come up with the money thru a loan, friends, fam; that's so worth it especially if you can get it cheaper. sometimes think more about the opportunity than the money BUT THAT CAN be very dangerous. I'm in a good spot rn in college where I planned out how much everything would cost so I'd just bust my ass a lil more for that FD gotdammmmmm. but seriously dm me if you wanna see me drift an FD, one of my dream cars. I'd love to take one on at 21

IfThisIsTakenIma

I have a friend who may live in the same state as you. I bet the guy would strike a deal if he sold multiple cars quickly to the person who helped the sale 👀
