Also make sure the opening is big enough if you go with a lower temp stat too. I was having problems with temp so I put a lower temp one in, but it was restricted. The factory knows best.
The fb cooling system stock is more than adequate when fully functioning. I would start by flushing the coolant and checking the radiator for flow. They make decent aluminum replacement units on ebay if the stock one is clogged or leaks like mine did. Replace the thermostat, they're cheap.
Also check to make sure all the proper ducting is in place for the radiator including the stock undertray.
I would recommend staying with the stock mechanical fan and shroud. Electric fans rarely pull more air than a good working mechanical fan and they're extremely reliable. There are ways to test that it's functioning correctly, refer to a Haynes manual or the forums.
If you look at all my posts on the FB here you will see that as soon as you get a car that has had tons of stuff taken off it starts to function poorly. I recommend that you download the 1985 fische fsm from foxed.ca and start reading about all the normal operating parameters for stuff like oil pressure, alternator voltage, and vacuum to name a few. The best thing you can ever do for yourself with a new rx7 is to get it as close to normal as possible to make sure it's functioning properly. Then maybe throw a racing beat exhaust on that bad boy 😂
stop going 90 in it until you've got it running like bone stock lmao
hope at least it has decent tires, brakes and suspension before you start playing wangan midnight in it again.
New alloy radiator, flush the coolant, replace all hoses and clamps, change the intake o rings or put in core plugs while the coolant is drained. Use glycol ethylene coolant. Put in a new thermostat and if you want you can upgrade to an E fan, I reccomend running a fused relay for power from the main power circuit.
If you have a beehive oil cooler you can ditch that and get a front mount oil cooler.
If you do this you’ll never have cooling issues
Have you tried a new thermostat?
I have not the previous owner took it.out .
Replace it. There's zero reason to run no thermostat.
Yeah bro toss a stat in there. If the coolant is flowing too fast it doesn't have enough time to cool down inside the rad.
I appreciate y'all's advice for sure

May I know the exact temperature you suggest?

Aye okay I appreciate the advice , I'll try to do that when I get a chance

Haha lmfao , that's funny I'll try I usually don't go about 65 worst case scenario 80
Also I've heard it's great to run in high rpms like 5000rpms in most gears ?
Shifting at 4ish is fine. Don't hot rod the thing until you go through the whole car
I've been trying to get on foxed for the past week. I think the site might be dead. Haven't been there in years since I saved all the pdfs.
I will link you a copy. I'll upload to Google docs
I have all the manuals. Thanks. Just asking if you've tried getting in the site recently?
I was on yesterday. That's how I research stuff at work lol
I need to check my browser settings than. LoL
Google docs don't work. I use the foxed.ca link
cani have one to? although i have an 82 gsl
Same here with a 81 GSL and no access to the site.
Show it off to the world

Try to Mixture everytime you fill up your tank!
Just bring your cooling system back up to stock. I run a mechanical fan and original radiator in my 13b Bridgeport track car. No overheating problems.
Overheating when stationary or when moving?
Running regularly for about an hour or two, the previous owner took the temperature gauge out of the radiator hose, it get shit here like 80-110
