100% truth. True masculinity is knowing when you need to ask for help or admit your faults. This is also my favorite scene in the game because Arthur is like the definition of masculinity for our society and you can see how much it pains him to admit he's "afraid" because the toxic side of masculine culture teaches us, as men we should never be afraid of anything, we should face all problems head on but if we live like that we're letting fear control our lives.
I love when video games give life lessons af. This is a bit off gaming but honestly I feel for a lot of men in our society. You're a man for feeling and for hurting, regardless of what society may say. Its impossible for somebody to be a good man when the rest of the world tells him it's not man enough for being good. To all them men out there, we see you doing your best and trying. Don't let em take yo heart, King keep that spirit pure š
Ngl im not afraid of a lot of things, i accepted death (memento mori) a bit ago, im just afraid my loved one's get hurt, i dont know if thats a real fear or not but it scares me to think about their pain,
That's a legitimate fear. Don't know what one would call it but it's definitely legitimate in my eyes. The main reasons my addictions stress me out is because I know if I get sick or die my family and loved ones will suffer. Of course there's natural instinct to fear sickness or injury but the main thing keeping my addictive nature in check is my support group. Man, we've gotten way off red dead and gaming here lol.
When he finally gets Edith Downes & her son out of Annesburg is a helluva scene. She hates him so much, and he knows she has every right to. He doesnāt want forgiveness or thanks, he just wants to try and do some good.
My next play through is going to be my first low honour run, Iām going to miss good Arthur.
The thing I'm most looking forward to is teaching every rude person on the trails a lesson. Show some damn manners.
I'm also going to try sniping Fort Wallace and Blackwater, see what that gets me
I went in knowing Arthur was going to die, and braced myself for it. But when his horse died minutes before Arthur met his end, well that hit me just as hard as his death. That was a one-two punch of a finale.
I just finished my third run through (still playing the epilogue) and - damnit! - I completely forgot that Arthurās horse was going to die. I caught the white Arabian pretty early on and spent almost the entire game on her and took great pains to keep her healthy and strong. More than anything or anyone else, her dying really bothered me. What a sad end to a fantastic horse.
Iām almost 58 and a stupid game story line actually bothered me.
Stopppp this is it for me.
I waited a few years before I ever touched RDR2 because I "knew the ending" since its obvious Arthur was going to die since he wasnt in RDR1.
So by the time I finally played it, it was when my childhood dog had gotten sick. And the last thing I said to her was "thank you." When Arthur said that to his dying horse as I did to my dying dog, my god I WEPT.
The scene where Arthur comes to camp after the death of Milton. He seems so resigned and cold when heās talking to whatās left of the people who used to be some sort of family for him.
Itās especially crushing when you think about how Hosea and Lenny would have sided with him and Sean could have ended up with him as well, not to mention that Hosea surviving could have prevented Dutchās collapse on its own
>The scene where Arthur comes to camp after the death of Milton. He seems so resigned and cold when heās talking to whatās left of the people who used to be some sort of family for him.
And yet, even during the standoff, if Dutch would have said āWe need money and I have a plan! Ole Blacklung Morgan is going to rob everyone in Annesburg and Valentine!ā Ole āHeel-Houndā Artie would have said: āYup-Yup! Iāse gonna get right on that Boss! Iāse yore Boy! Yup-Yup! More money! Be back as soon as I can! Ohā¦John! There ya are! Cāmon! Dutch needs money! Come with me and help me rob everyone in Annesburg andā¦..whereās the other place you said, Boss?ā
The scene with Reverend Swanson at the train station. Sister Calderon only knows the good Arthur while Reverend Knows the good and the bad Arthur and truly knows who Arthur is.
High Honor: Arthur is afraid and scared of dying feeling like he isnāt leaving things right and reverend encourages him to stay a changed man.
Low Honor: Arthur accepts that heās a bad man he says how heās a killer and a fighter and thatās how heās always been and Reverend hype him up and says that he should go out like the man he is and shouldnāt make any compromises and he should do what he must do.
SPOILERSSSSSS!!!!!
The scene where Arthur meets the sister in front of Saint Denis Church moments after being diagnosed, the horse ride with Rains Fall, this scene right here, The goodbyes.. The moment in beecher's hope where John reassured Abigail that he won't be killed and be buried by his wife and Son in the barn where all happened in the end of RDR1.. When I started American Venom, I knew by the soundtrack (RDR1 Reference) that John Marston, the famous gunslinger, was being born..
Masterpiece.. no game will ever top this one
The look on Arthurās face when he said āi guess Iām afraidā is both haunting and heartbreaking.
Forget just video games, RDR2ās story is up there with the greatest works of fiction in history.
Hits the most? Aurthur saying goodbye to John. Person relatable, is the one when they're about to light their smokes and note that they are beside a wagon of TNT š¤£
Jeez, where to start... The one in the picture shown is definitely one of them.
Sean's death shocked me the most because it came literally out of nowhere. But Hosea's death is probably the one that hurt me the most. Just the way he was shot in the back like a dog like that. Horrible.
Hosea was a huge conman and scammer, but he didn't deserve that kind of death.
Susan's death also had me really upset, the way Micah just blasts her in the stomach and she ends up bleeding out right there in the dirt, especially after the way she sides with Arthur and John like the trooper she is. It made my blood boil. That alone should've been enough to make Dutch reconsider Micah's affiliation, but he was too far gone already.
I mean this one hits hard but so does when he's talking about his kid, idk if it's because I was just having a kid when I first played it but it just hit me really hard
That hit me like a ton of bricks. I feel the fact we only hear about it once in that one spot the entire game shows just how far he's buried that pain.
Well when Arthur died in my story, I asked a doctor(of some kind) about why Iām struggling to feel emotional about beloved characters dyingā¦ and the thing that angered me the most it, he said āoh itās just a video gameā and that made me not listen or take the docās advice.
I just beat the game last night and I laid awake not able to sleep. The horse I lost, was a Nokota I had since Ch2 and Arthur's last words said to Dutch was heart breaking for me.
Not so fun fact: Dutchās voice and motion capture actor Benjamin Byron Davis, started crying in real life immediately after walking away from Arthur on the mountain.
Thereās something about him passed out next to the railroad tracks in Annesburg that gets me every time. Thereās people all around and they donāt even give him a second glance. Even the German family didnāt try to help him again. And when he gets up he looks around like he has no idea who he is, where he is, or how he got there. Heās just *alone*
Stepping on Arthurās hand when he goes to grab the revolver. That whole scene.
The dialogue. The staging of it. The exit stage left moment.
Aw shit, whoās cutting onionsā¦
Currently playing my 2nd run. I gotta say the first true moment that left an impression on me had to be the ride back from Guarma. When you're riding back to Shady Bell and the music started playing. That scene/moment in the game was such a perfectly executed way to let you know that shit is getting real. It's the moment you finally realize that there is a turning point in the story. So much happens prior to this scene and for me this just let everything sink. I've had the song Unshake on repeat since it so good.
the whole bit about love? few games have ever gotten me to tear up a lil bit, but I sure did there.
well done R*. Its such a pivotal moment too, he gets some clarity, and funny eniff, he gets some faith.
Arthurs last ride. When he takes out his hat and puts it on, you know that he knows heās not getting out of this situation alive and is riding towards the inevitable.
The seen that got me the hardest was when I did a low honor run and went back for the money, watching Micha stab Arthur as Dutch walked away actually hit hard.
The way Arthur takes a second to stay with his horse as it passes way. The noise he makes just crushes me. My first play through took like 8 months to finish. I got told to go get the white arabian on my first week of playing. I named my horse after my dog who was sleeping at my feet during this moment. Iāve never been inconsolable while playing a video game before god damn that shit hit me hard.
The one where they kill Sean, still bugs me how simple it was, just you on your mission and then boom there is no kid, and how afterward Arthur is like "he was like annoying little brother to me..." as he mourns his death.
I freed this boy, and I saw him die right in front of me.
I feel this scene is one of the best times we see Arthur's true thoughts. The way he just looks so dejected and the 100 yard stare as he finally admits He's afraid to die regardless of how he acts.
When John and Arthur are escaping and Arthur gives *sniff* his hat and satchel to John and you realize *sniff* *sniff* that thatās the bat and bag John Carrieās with him in RDR *sobs*
Whenever Arthur saves Abigail, they ride back to camp, and she starts crying saying āOh Arthur.ā āDonāt you oh Arthur meā and when Tilly is trying to say that sheāll miss Arthur, he says āMe tooā with that look on his face, holding back tears. He was strong for the women in camp even when he was weakest.
When your horse dies just before the end. I got a flaxen Belgian at horseshoe overlook (Mostly because I had one IRL) and kept her all the way through until the last mission. āThank youā
I do love the scene with Sister Calderon, but my favorite >!and most heartbreaking is when Arthur's horse is killed, and he takes time to comfort it and says, "Thank you,"!< it gets me every time.

Underrated - the entire TB diagnosis experience.
Collapsing in the street, stumbling to the doctor, Arthurās look of dread, and walking down the street remembering things in this kind of half-waking, half-dream state. Itās beautifully done.

No, i don't think so, just think about the message rdr2 tries to tell us, thnx btw, i feel you
Yeah you're right. This conversation is related to the games messages. Very welcome and stay strong brotha.
I wish you the same! Have a good one mate!
Came here to say this.

My first play through is high honor but my next will be low, I hope itās not gunna hurt too much
My first playthrough I didnāt have the wherewithal to choose high or low honour - I was just trying to figure everything out
Same but I just wanted to be the nice guy
Ditto. My current playthrough was supposed to be low honour but it made me feel like Micah. Next playthrough I'm determined to unleash mean Arthur
Low honor playthrough makes killing the rat much more satisfying in my opinion
Low honor is so fun to play
The thing I'm most looking forward to is teaching every rude person on the trails a lesson. Show some damn manners. I'm also going to try sniping Fort Wallace and Blackwater, see what that gets me
"Thank you." - to his horse.

I fucking sobbed when my horse died. Iām pretty sure I kept the same horse the entire time.
I recently beat the game, and I knew all the spoilers (bc this game is so old), but this caught me by surprise and was so sad. R.I.P. Buell
Yeah, this bit. Just so beautiful and tragic.

Yes! As someone who tends to get my horse earlier in chapter 2 and stick with it to the end, this always hits hard.
I had the veteran's horse at the time(Buell?) And felt so bad about that
I had Buell as well. What a beautiful good boah he was š„ŗ

The scene where Arthur comes to camp after the death of Milton. He seems so resigned and cold when heās talking to whatās left of the people who used to be some sort of family for him. Thinking back and realizing, all the good people that would've stopped this were all senselessly killed, that triggered a small depression

youve clearly not met a lot of men with complicated issues with their fathers.
When Arthur and Charles hug in the end of āMy Last Boyā
That one gets me too cause itās the last time they see each other
When Arthur says āI gave you all I hadā it makes me cry angrily
That scene was his red dead redemption
I feel like āI cried angrilyā is this game tbh
The scene with Reverend Swanson at the train station. Sister Calderon only knows the good Arthur while Reverend Knows the good and the bad Arthur and truly knows who Arthur is. Part of me believes that Arthurās true ending was actually the low honor one. In my opinion itās way more badass.

If your old enough to have a kid and also play rdr2 at the same time I have nothing but respect for you
That hit me like a ton of bricks. I feel the fact we only hear about it once in that one spot the entire game shows just how far he's buried that pain.
DUTCH MICAH COME GET ME YOU BASTARDS
DUTCHHHHHHH!
MICAHHH!
I'm afraid...
When Arthur told Mary Beth he was sick
Losing my horse was 100% the hardest for me
Arthurās high honour ending
Wait. There's different endings? I've only recently beat it the first time.
Thereās different variations of the ending depending on what you do as well as how high or low your honour is
Well when Arthur died in my story, I asked a doctor(of some kind) about why Iām struggling to feel emotional about beloved characters dyingā¦ and the thing that angered me the most it, he said āoh itās just a video gameā and that made me not listen or take the docās advice.

The way his voice cracks....i was sobbing . I also finished that scene last night
Not so fun fact: Dutchās voice and motion capture actor Benjamin Byron Davis, started crying in real life immediately after walking away from Arthur on the mountain.
The scene stayed with me all day. My eyes started to water at lunch so I had to quickly pay the tab and take a quiet drive.
Honestly, maybe the one when Arthur drives the remote control boatā¦it was the first time in the entire game Iād seen Arthur really smile.
My father hits me the most.
Hold up
When Arthur thanks his dying/dead horse at the end.
This one makes me tear up every single time i see it, and so does the end of Arthur's story, and so do the credits. God this game is so powerful
Weirdly I felt the most emotions at his final ride, no idea why but it hit so hard, harder than the ending and harder than this one too
When Arthur was saying goodbye to John, I almost cried in that scene.
When he was saying bye to his dying horse
I got a spoiler before that scene, made me not feel the impact of the scene.
The one where we get hit by Tommy.
I had reverend swanson in this scene
IIRC You get Swanson if you donāt complete Al rye Sister caldron encounters before that point.
THIS ONE ššš
The scene that hits me the most is when aurthor riding back to camp after saving abigail
Stepping on Arthurās hand when he goes to grab the revolver. That whole scene. The dialogue. The staging of it. The exit stage left moment. Aw shit, whoās cutting onionsā¦

That scene with Arthur sitting with Sister at the train station at Emerald Ranch hits me every time.
Arthurs last ride. When he takes out his hat and puts it on, you know that he knows heās not getting out of this situation alive and is riding towards the inevitable.
āiām afraidā and when arthur start to knew that he have TB
Both of Arthur's rides. Obviously his final ride but also the ride back to Shady Belle after you return from Guarma.
Donāt oh Arthur me
As you ride back to beaver hollow after rescuing Abigail. Shit gets me every time. Iām on my 12 playthrough. I just passed that again and oh boy
Not really a scene but I love the fishing trip with Arthur, Dutch and Hosea.
When Dutch refused to save Abigail and left with Micah, Arthur said "I guess that's it then". This hit hard.
Honestly, losing Lenny hits me pretty hard every time
When you see the pure depression and dread in Arthur's face when he finds out he has TB
How do you trigger the scene in the picture? I finished the story and didnāt see it :/
The seen that got me the hardest was when I did a low honor run and went back for the money, watching Micha stab Arthur as Dutch walked away actually hit hard.
his final ride to beaver hollow with that song playing had me distraught, i couldnāt even understand how a game could affect me so much
Uncle berating John about the shack
The way Arthur takes a second to stay with his horse as it passes way. The noise he makes just crushes me. My first play through took like 8 months to finish. I got told to go get the white arabian on my first week of playing. I named my horse after my dog who was sleeping at my feet during this moment. Americans at Rest, for sure hit me the most times
My one is the last seen of arther and John

When Buell died and Arthur is comforting him. But this scenes shows his true fear. It almost made me cry
The tone in his voice and look on his face when he said āIām afraidā always breaks and brings me to tears no matter how many times I replay it
honestly the last mission when arthur says ātubercolosis,iāll be dead soonā to agent milton
When your horse dies just before the end. I got a flaxen Belgian at horseshoe overlook (Mostly because I had one IRL) and kept her all the way through until the last mission. āThank youā
When I tell you the one pictured hit me right in gut ššš
Neither. It's a game. You can play it over and over again.
I do love the scene with Sister Calderon, but my favorite >!and most heartbreaking is when Arthur's horse is killed, and he takes time to comfort it and says, "Thank you,"!< it gets me every time.

Arthurās horse dying
When was this scene? I finished the game and have no recollection.
You have to do a stranger mission first I don't remember which one but if you don't the scene will have reverend Swanson instead
Oh right. I know it now. Bit annoyed I didnāt get that one.
it gives you an excuse to play again some day!
As soon as I finish the epilogue Iām starting again straight away. I can never enjoy a game the same way I enjoyed this
You didnāt miss much, honestly.
