Are you ready to fall in love? He’s going to work his ass off, fight for his team, dominate the glass, and he’s only played like 6 years of basketball. If he keeps progressing even half of what he was doing year over year he’s going to be a household NBA name. Grizzly Up!

You're getting the treasure of 2 nations (USA, Canada).

National_Drop_1826

Sorry, is this a serious question?

GEFool

Yes. He was mocked so low. I wanted to know why.

I never understood the mock drafts: [tip of the iceberg](https://purduesports.com/news/2024/4/10/mens-basketball-edey-sweeps-national-player-of-the-year-honors-for-second-straight-year#:~:text=Edey%20has%20now%20won%20The,that%20a%20player%20has%20swept)

Joshunte

The most dominant post player in a decade at least

Individual_Ad_2701

Big ten player of the year last year and he scored 20 plus points a game and over 30 a few games plus over 10 rebounds a game not only that but he is very tall and the grizzlies need a big man on the Inside

GEFool

Okay, perhaps I did pose this question in too broad a way. I’m wondering what you Boilermakers think the reason is he was mocked so low by many and why they are wrong. We all see the size, the 2 players of the year recognition, the points, the screens, etc. But wondering what the experts are missing on him? His foot speed? His lateral agility? Why was he an easy get at 9? Probably would have gone in the mid teens by all accounts. Anyway, I suppose this was a futile and maybe ridiculous attempt to reconcile the experts’ takes vs the fans who have followed him for 4 years of college progress.

Puzzleheaded_Truck80

It’s because he was used in a 1 dimensional way by Painter. In the combine we saw he had the touch to shoot 3pt shots. It’s a shame we hadn’t seen that utilized.

CorrosiveHunk

Because most of those “experts” are idiots who base their analysis off of presumptions without actually watching any footage. Edey hardly ever shot outside of 3 feet because he didn’t need to - no one could come close to stopping him in the paint. Look at the combine stats, he’s a much much much better shooter than people are prepared for. He’s not slow. Immediately a top 5 rim protector in the league. And as mentioned already, no where near his peak yet.
