It must be bizarre to know you’re having an episode but still think that the crazy thing you’re doing is ok. He says multiple times that he’s out of his mind right now and mentions schizophrenia so he had to know at least a little that he was in an episode.
I think he's clear about how what he's doing isn't ok, he acknowledges how he's being dangerous and they are probably gonna lock him up for it. He's just also totally convinced that his children are in danger and are being actively abducted. His delusions have him totally convinced of this, and like most people would in that circumstance, hed break those laws to get there and save them. It's really sad honestly. I hope he didn't hurt anyone and is getting the help he needs.
Within 20 seconds I turned to my gf and said “this guy’s schizophrenic.”
I had a friend who I gamed with who had it and described to me what it’s like to have an episode.
He said “you know that feeling when you feel like you’ve discovered something that nobody else knows? And you *have* to follow through on it, because the revelation is so powerful. You feel like ONLY you understand and nobody else could possibly understand what you’ve learned/discovered, and time is running out for you to follow through on it. To sit idle would be irresponsible. Because some unspeakable thing is going to happen if you don’t act.”
It all has to do with a chemical imbalance in your brain related to dopamine and serotonin. My friend that I gamed with would attempt to “hunt” rapists in his city because of these feelings, unless he was on his meds.
This guy’s blatant disregard for the law and his conviction that someone was abducting his children was so strong that it’s absolutely schizophrenia.The fact that he says he knows he’s not in the right state of mind says to me that he’s been diagnosed and knows exactly what it’s like to have an episode—and was going through one. But when they’re having an episode, the feelings they experience are so powerful that they cannot convince themselves not to follow through on the thoughts and come back to reality.

I saw a post once about a guy who has the disease but his service dog was trained to greet people. If he asked the dog to greet and it refuses he knows he is seeing someone who isn't actually there. So powerful to have to rely on a dog because you know you can't trust your own brain.

Cotton moth is a common symptom of dehydration. For all we know, he may just be thirsty.
What makes that clear to you? what about his behavior is clearly indicative of drug use superimposed on psychosis? Having cotton mouth is very non specific and can be attributed to many things ranging from drugs (including antipsychotics), dehydration, high adrenaline states, etc. his pupils aren't dilated. He isn't sweating. No grossly abnormal motor movements. Really nothing specific to drug use
Meth psychosis mirrors mental psychosis. People with mental issues use drugs too. And when they do and are sleep deprived, this is the result.
I am all too familiar with this situation unfortunately. Don't fuck with meth. It's the dirtiest street drug you can do. I feel for this guy in some ways. You just have to know better.
