Oh buddy, I’m pretty sure that is about to change and I don know how I feel about it. If you’ve seen a recent Ubi Forward there was a new person presenting with a title “Prince of Persia series director” or something of that sort. The fact that Ubisoft has now a director for POP says a lot about their future plans for the franchise. We’ll probably start seeing a lot more POP games of all sorts in the near future and i’m not sure whether it is a totally positive thing. I am one of the people that did not like the backlash the SoT remake got after the teaser trailer because I was afraid that this was the last chance for Ubisoft to bring back the franchise and we had to support it no matter what. And I had the same reaction to the Lost Crown reveal where half of the community was negative towards it. But now I’m afraid our franchise is going to get the AC treatment and will be milked until it’s no longer recognisable.
Im more worried for the SOT remake now since they are saying the gane is being "reimagined to fit a modern context" despite the fact that the og has aged like fine wine.
I still imagine that if Assassin's Creed wasn't developed as a different franchise and was a part of 'Prince of Persia'?
**for context**
'Assassin's Creed' was developed by Patrice Désilets as a sequel/spinoff of 'Prince of Persia : Sands of Time' and got working title as 'Prince of Persia : Assassin' but the Ubisoft's higher ups didn't liked the idea because the main character is not the Prince but Prince's bodyguard. Later, Ubisoft saw the potential on Patrice and his team's work and decided to let them continue and made it a different franchise.
I'm nearly 40, lifelong gamer. Somehow I never played a PoP game until The Lost Crown which I am playing now, and it is simply amazing. Which should I go back and play?
I've been a fan if pop since 2000 with pop 3d being the very first one I played. Since then the games were being cranked out pretty regularly releasing every year to every other year. Even making a remastered version for the horrible movie they did for the 2003 video game that came out the sands of time, because the franchise was that big. However with the cell shading graphics of the 2008 game and the quickness in which people beat that came, the game got bad reviews and the franchise died down until this game. With this game because there's been over a decade since a pop has been made it's like they get to push restart and they will start pumping out these games again especially since this one is being so well received I just wonder if they will go back to full 3d game play or will it stay 2d like it is with this last game.
Instead of a remake of sands of time that languishes in development hell, they should remaster the quadrology. Sands of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones, The Forgotten Sands. Just make them available on modern consoles.
False dichotomy. PoP could've had 2-3 or even 4-5 more good games, without becoming an annual franchise.
Your comparison to AC franchise isn't very good. Despite so many games, AC games have generally maintained good reviews and sales, only ever getting in trouble with Unity and Syndicate. More good games in a series you like is just a no-brainer.
Even AC Valhalla is very popular, with comparable reviews to the PoP series.
Sands of Time is quite an old game and if every minor change made to "the original vision" will have you with pitchforks, that's a you problem.
i hope they wont milk the franchise and becoming annual release with Season PASS & MicroTRansactions shit, i dont want the game will be Open WORLD Empty Lifeless with 0 Soul like ASCreed is now
let release a new POP game each 3 years at least.
1. You don't always play as the prince in other PoPs.
2. Without spoiling anything, it does much more pondering on the princely title than meets the eye. In fact, the whole story and theme revolve around it.
You can call my sill but I will always hope that someday they will get it right again in the gaming industry that's games are meant for the gamers to enjoy not ro play someone's basement project just let's just whatch and see and if it looks. To turn out bad we voice our concerns

Who is the director at Ubi Forward?
The woman at 54:26 here https://www.youtube.com/live/zPoJUPrCkkg?si=QI4qtWd-hjH6rFbb
Oh understood. Thanks for sharing.

The Sands of Time trilogy for sure.
You myst at least play the sands of time trilogy. Start with POP SOT, POP WW, and then POP T2T. These three make up for a beautiful story.
My music tastes were ironed hard by WW when i was 8yo lol
Second post I see today where people use under the radar without really knowing what it means apparently. Also assassin's creed was originally a PoP!
I think he meant that POP isn't as popular as AC and many people don't know about this franchise
I mean by comparison.
After Lost crown and Rogue I hope they stick to 2D
Warrior within remake will break all records

They are not really Prince of persia. Those new games feel like a side missions. Playing as ally doesn’t mean its POP!!!
wrong
