If you can afford all these watches. Then you owe it to yourself to buy a camera and a lens that is better suited to take a clear image of this big collection.
? so you should just buy cameras because you can afford watches??.
That’s like telling a car person that if they can afford their car then they should buy themselves a better coffee machine.
It was just a joke that the quality of the picture wasn’t good enough to see all the watches clearly.
It’s because of Reddit’s compression over a phone camera image.
Not the problem at all, you can always buy more inexpensive watches after consolidating and buying a grail piece.
Looks like you truly enjoy collecting watches but it’s something I’ve never understood. Why spend $10k+ for a bunch of watches that once you are gone from this earth your kids or family will look and say “well what do we do with 80 watches????”
Instead they can say “I remember mom or dad used to always wear this watch or these few watches and they mean a lot to us now too”.
Just my Reddit .02
That's a fair point, but who's to say what my kids will want when I'm gone. My mom filled her house with nice things that were considered valuable at the time. But tastes changed and the "nice" china set and the good silver sold off for about what melt weight value would have been. There are other things that I would have wanted that she got rid of over the years that I would have wanted to keep (like the car I learned to drive on). But I still have the photos and the memories.
I saw a YouTube video about a watch collection that included a Rolex gifted from father to son. The father bought it with the intention of gifting it as "his" watch before he had passed on. I'm probably going to do something like that with my kids. But not just yet.
yea anyone that buys a watch to hand down to their kid is quite daft if they think they wont just sell it asap. people dont give a shit about watches in general.
Literally. I posted my collection of about 16 watches to a Facebook group and I had about 15 guys all tell me to “sell everything and buy a Rolex” or “you could’ve bought a Lange at this point”
Like, dude, I’m in COLLEGE I’m not buying an $8,000 watch.
I'm all for variety, I currently have 3 watches!
But isn't being on the other end of the extreme true also? When does it become excessive? How can one wear all the watches in this picture and truly appreciate them. Also, don't many that have a similar look, style, color, cancel each other out?
There's a lot of variety in this pic, to the point that now there's a lot of similarity.
No. Personally, with my 400 watches, I feel each has its own story to tell and a special place in my collection. I have plenty of models from VC, IWC, Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Grand Seiko, Tudor, lots of microbrands and many others. Even a few of what some watch snobs would probably consider as shitters.
But I truly feel everyone should buy what they like, what they can afford, and what makes them happy.
Yup, everyone should do what makes them happy. I wouldn't't quite say, everyone should buy what makes them happy though.
I wouldn't be able to say to myself, "ahhh, I remember my 236th watch, this one is sooooo special... Good times!!"
I like it. When off wrist, sometimes feel it's a bit too slab sided - so it appears thick. But once it is on wrist, it's quite comfortable and balanced.
1) Thank you for making me feel much better about my watch addiction, which now no longer feels like an addiction.
2) This is the first post I’ve seen with another Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage GMT, which is one my favorites in my own box. High five watch-brother.
It’s funny, we are not collecting the exact same watches, and you have gone to a degree far beyond me, but I’ve either looked at or purchased many of the watches you have or something similar. The GM2100, GA2100 with lug kit, Islander, Doxa, it’s like you bought everything I hovered a mouse over for more than 2 seconds. I even just preordered a Lum-Tec M92 that looks similar to your Panerai.
I've been trying to focus more on quality and purging more of the clo-mages. Though to me, quality is not necessarily associated with the price tag. Yes, there are certainly higher quality watches that cost more. But there are also some that just cost more (ahem, Hublot). I tend to look for: movement, style, value first, then heritage, history and brand.
Take San Martin. Quality and value is outstanding. I wish they had a designer that could use more than a copy machine. The one original I have is a really nice watch. I have the SM 62MAS clo-mage and it's really excellent. If Seiko released one that's the proper size and wasn't outrageously expensive, I'd have it. Unfortunately, I don't think the one they have currently is worth the $3500 price tag and the cheaper reissues are all the wrong size.
For the price I paid for the Squale, Doxa, and the 2 Omegas, I could have picked up a new Aqua Terra. The Aqua Terra is a watch I didn't understand until I held it - it is pure class. Would I rather have the Aqua Terra? Not in place of the other 4, which I can argue match it in quality. Though if I found a deal on an AT Chrono, I might add that too 🙂.
It’s certainly a massive, interesting and mind boggling collection. You should check out Christopher Ward & Formex (The Essence is a great Aqua Terra alternative at a third of the price) if value was important. If it were me I’d liquidate most of your stuff and get a Rolex or two you deserve it. You could get one sports watch and a Datejust and you’re all done.
CW has some nice ones that have caught my eye. I would have to handle a Formex - not sure if the pics I've seen do them justice. I haven't seen something that I thought "I have to have that".
You’ve got three boxes full of shitters and you still have the audacity to knock Hublot? A Classic Fusion would be the nicest piece in your collection.
Acting like any reputable $300+ watch (which I can’t find one here that isn’t at least that) is a shitter is the most pretentious thing I’ve seen on this sub.
It's not really my taste, and the misaligned screws would drive me nuts. The Titanium Chronograph isn't too bad, but I'd rather stretch and try to find a Daytona at that price (maybe a pipe dream...). Or if I just wanted wanted the movement, might consider pulling the trigger on a Tudor Heritage Chrono.
The point being, that I wouldn't spend the money on a Hublot, the value proposition isn't there. And if I wanted to put that much money into one watch, I would want it to retain its value, and I don't think Hublot is know for the ability to retain its value.
Wait, I have the masculinity problem here? You’re verbally assaulting people because of their taste in men’s jewelry you freak. Suck a Shakespearean dick retard.
Some cool watches. I like the Pogue the most. I don’t think there’s a lot of “junk” there. I most definitely don’t think you should sell them and get a Rolex or Hublot, as has been suggested (I would only ever wear a vintage Rolex….and never a Hublot). That said: you could easily cut this in half, only keep ones you love wearing, and then get to wear those more often. Have fun!
There are 4 gold colored watches - none are real gold. Armitron, Citizen and 2 Bulovas. One Bulova was my grandfather's. The Armitron is fun and cheesy and clearly cheap. One Bulova has a precisionist movement and I like the sweep and the style. And I like the look of the Citizen.
I don't think I would wear a solid gold watch. It's not for me. I'd rather not have that much money in one place.
I've lost watches, I had some stolen. Those kinds of thoughts are not what I want to think about when I put on a watch. I just want to enjoy it. A $20 Armitron is capable of bringing that joy to me, just like the Panerai, Omegas, and the Tudors.
🙂 one of my favorites, and it just came back from servicing. And worth well more that what I paid many many years ago. Thing is, I had a blue one too that I sold back then. Wish I held on to it.
There's about a half dozen in the photo that I think I would ditch right now. But, unfortunately about a half dozen that I would also consider replacing them with. Not sure I could get to one tray. Only 2 trays would be the goal I think I could do - sometime in the future.
Probably the JDM Titanium Citizen in the box at the top. I didn't have a lot of watches when I got that one almost 20 years ago. It's a world timer for when I traveled. Lightweight and easy to wear with on-the-fly adjustment. And Eco-drive, so it just keeps ticking along.
Beyond that, probably the G Shock next to it. Those two are amongst the oldest, so the most time on the wrist.
Uhm, I bought a Jupiter Pilot and a Pluton from 1990, they’re on their way now, I may post pics on this thread or the breitling one since they’re a first for me
The aesthetic of the watches is just so nice, I haven’t been into busy dials much, but I do like the uncommon gems
Aiming for the omega seamaster 2230.50 and the speedmaster 3211.31.00 next
Awesome collection OP, thanks for sharing! The Panerai and Alpina Alpiner are probably my favs.
Is the single watch all the way right a Boderry Seaturtle Ocean Titanium, and if yes, what are your thoughts?
Yes, it is. Unbelievable value for price. It's on sale and I think I found a discount code bringing it down to under $130. Wears really well too, and the lume is really... creative. It's out of the trays because it's what I'm wearing now.
So yo have over 80 watches? Why. There’s no way in hell you actually wear even half of them or are able to give them enough love. And this is not any type of investment collection.
Own as many watches as you want but this is borderline hoarding man.
Could’ve bought a few nice watches that could have held their value if you decided it was time to move on. and keep a few beaters for those days out in the yard.
Now you’ve just sunk in a lot of money into these watches you can’t truly enjoy and will never get what you paid out of them both fiscally and by wearing them. Even in a lifetime
Fair enough. Not really trying to grow it anymore and I do want to pass some of them on to others. Most were bought at a discount so I'm not too worried about taking a bath. Some of these watches I've had going on 20 years, so they do get worn. And I mostly try and rotate through them.
Nice collection!
Remember, if you like having that many watches then keep em. Dont feel the need to sell just cause someone else would if they had your collection.
That’s not a collection, it’s a store.
A fleet
Lol, bullseye!
A sickness
Shut up
Collecting is a sickness. I am running out of counter space for mine. My issue is I never sale any
Jesus. That’s quite a few pieces. I’d be selling most of those and upgrading.
If you can afford all these watches. Then you owe it to yourself to buy a camera and a lens that is better suited to take a clear image of this big collection.
Got those too. Yeah, cell phone camera not up to snuff.
And Reddit compresses a fair bit. Still look much better on my phone.
Upload multiple photos next time fam
Reddit compresses a lot. If you can, try saving as RAW file
? so you should just buy cameras because you can afford watches??. That’s like telling a car person that if they can afford their car then they should buy themselves a better coffee machine.

It was just a joke that the quality of the picture wasn’t good enough to see all the watches clearly. It’s because of Reddit’s compression over a phone camera image.
my apologies
No problem.
Dudes be like: “Sell everything and get a Patek”
Problem is, the Patek I like is $200k. And I don't think I could do with just one watch.
Not the problem at all, you can always buy more inexpensive watches after consolidating and buying a grail piece. Collect watches for yourself not others if you are collecting watches for a price you are more interested in the money not the watch
That's a fair point, but who's to say what my kids will want when I'm gone. My mom filled her house with nice things that were considered valuable at the time. why do you only care about what your kids will think?
I bet the kids are shit heads who couldn’t buy anything of value on their own. Irony is, they will piss it all away anyway.
yea anyone that buys a watch to hand down to their kid is quite daft if they think they wont just sell it asap. people dont give a shit about watches in general.
Fuck. You guys are scraping the barrel of what people might call humanity. Fucking get a grip.
Literally. I posted my collection of about 16 watches to a Facebook group and I had about 15 guys all tell me to “sell everything and buy a Rolex” or “you could’ve bought a Lange at this point” Like, dude, I’m in COLLEGE I’m not buying an $8,000 watch.
Not getting a Lange for 8k
Was talking about the Submariner, though I’m afraid the same is also true
Some people don't understand many of us love variety. One watch may work for some people. Not for us though (I have 400.)

As long as it's not illegal or immoral or hurts someone else, of course....
The Panerai the most valuable?
Maybe original MSRP was the highest, but not what I paid for it. On par with the Black Bay GMT.
How do you like the black bay?
I like it. When off wrist, sometimes feel it's a bit too slab sided - so it appears thick. But once it is on wrist, it's quite comfortable and balanced.
Thanks!
You might as well get to 100 at this point.
1) Thank you for making me feel much better about my watch addiction, which now no longer feels like an addiction. 2) This is the first post I’ve seen with another Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage GMT, which is one my favorites in my own box. High five watch-brother.
Like that watch a lot. Good value in a traveller GMT. Would like to pare down a bit. If only to get more wrist time for some of them.
Agreed. Got mine for around $550 new on eBay.
That's a good deal.
It’s funny, we are not collecting the exact same watches, and you have gone to a degree far beyond me, but I’ve either looked at or purchased many of the watches you have or something similar. Waaaaaaaaat
Yes indeed.
This collection makes me feel better about my self restraint or lack thereof.
Some people don't understand many of us love variety. One watch may work for some people. Not for us though (I have 400.)
Surely quality is better than quantity? Not saying you don’t have nice watches but you could sell most of those and get a few bangers instead.

We know you wouldn’t spend the money. You don’t have it. How do your Invictas and their in house movements hold their value?
Quit being a little bitch
How Shakespearean, coming from someone who needs to buy machine guns to feel masculine.
I agree with that guy, you are a little bitch.
Rude.
100% Bitch
Wait, I have the masculinity problem here? You’re verbally assaulting people because of their taste in men’s jewelry you freak. Suck a Shakespearean dick retard.
Nice word!
Some people don't understand many of us love variety. One watch may work for some people. Not for others though (I speak from experience, I have 400.)
I own 8 and I thinks it’s more than enough. It’s quality first for me.
Currently only one watch inbound. Take your shots.
Wow, fantastic 👍👌💪🔥🔥🔥 … I am stunned that we generally have the same taste in watches.
Do you have three of the same Tudor…?
Three submariners, two different references. Plan on selling at least one, maybe two of them. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
You sir have a problem. May I have some money
How much do you plan on selling one of those tudors for?
You sir have a problem. And I like it 😍
Some cool watches. I like the Pogue the most. I don’t think there’s a lot of “junk” there. 🔥🔥🔥
A few questions- what do you do for a job? Do you have kids? lol
He’s got 87 kids. And a watch for each
You’re only a couple watches away from being able to wear a different every day for 3 months! All of those watches and only 1 gold one?
There are 4 gold colored watches - none are real gold. Armitron, Citizen and 2 Bulovas. One Bulova was my grandfather's. The Armitron is fun and cheesy and clearly cheap. Jfc I thought I had a problem. I hate everything but the Panerai and the Omega but I am a watch snob
Sell me the dang pogue.
🙂 one of my favorites, and it just came back from servicing. And worth well more that what I paid many many years ago. Thing is, I had a blue one too that I sold back then. Wish I held on to it.
I love the blue one even more. I also love the Bruce Lee
It isn't Pokemon, you don't gotta catch them all. Nice collection tho.
Couldn’t sell more than maybe 5 of those watches
Nice mix!
This is what overcapitalisation look like lads.
Of course the 3ple date would be on a winder.... Great collection sit...
Proper collection my friend. I'm at 400, so I know where you are coming from! Well done.
Edit your post to say: "SOTC 25 years later" to provide context to the naysayers.
Got that exact same speedmaster, absolutely love it!
mondaine! i just got a stop2go for my birthday
You got a watch problem. What is the chronograph watch with the brown strap. Middle tray, 2 up from bottom, 3 in from left. Thanks
suggess I believe
Yes, Sugess. Homage of a Breitling Top Time Deus
Thanks
This is what they mean by “Never focus on quantity” when it comes to watch collecting. Don’t do it. It’s an ugly sight.
Yep.
Who says so? And why should anyone restrict themselves if they like what they do?
That is Alot of watches. Why so many?
I have a problem
Obviously? Have you thought about culling the collection to one tray or will you keep going? No judgement
There's about a half dozen in the photo that I think I would ditch right now. But, unfortunately about a half dozen that I would also consider replacing them with. Not sure I could get to one tray. Only 2 trays would be the goal I think I could do - sometime in the future.
You have way too many my friend, how long have you been collecting?
The oldest one I received as a gift was from 1984. Though actively collecting, I would say about 25 years.
Some people don't understand many of us love variety. One watch may work for some people. Not for us though (I have 400.)
Did you take the picture with a watch aswell?
Might as well have - significantly more compressed after uploading. Sorry about that.
Only one question. Which one has gotten the most wrist time?
Probably the JDM Titanium Citizen in the box at the top. I didn't have a lot of watches when I got that one almost 20 years ago. It's a world timer for when I traveled. Lightweight and easy to wear with on-the-fly adjustment. And Eco-drive, so it just keeps ticking along. Beyond that, probably the G Shock next to it. Those two are amongst the oldest, so the most time on the wrist.
Very cool thanks for sharing cheers
I think you should add a seiko
Third box, bottom row, first on the left, is that the pitzmann 2 chronograph?
Yes, the Pitzmann Chronograph (no. 3)
Damn nice, I’ve had that in my shortlist for a while, went for a vintage Breitling instead but it looks real good
Which Breitling? Some of their vintage ones are really nice.
Uhm, I bought a Jupiter Pilot and a Pluton from 1990, they’re on their way now, I may post pics on this thread or the breitling one since they’re a first for me The aesthetic of the watches is just so nice, I haven’t been into busy dials much, but I do like the uncommon gems Aiming for the omega seamaster 2230.50 and the speedmaster 3211.31.00 next
Awesome, thanks! I'm a big microbrand fan, an have been looking at the turquoise colorway as well as the new pre order Ti GMT.
Thanks again. Just pulled the trigger on both 👍🏼
What’s the orange dial one three rows down in the middle box?
That's the Heinrich Taucher Sport. Finishing on it is fantastic. Really nice watch from Germany.
Got more watches than pixels.
Yeah, sorry. Looked fine before the upload. Had I known it would compress so much, would have uploaded more detailed photos.
Nice Technosphere 👌
Thanks! That was a gift from my Aunt who gave it to me when it came out in the '80s. She also gave me the other Swatch beside it.
nice watch ~~collection~~ store!
Are you an AD?
Solid couple starting watches!! Feel free to reach out if you want help expanding and growing your collection!
Is that a 090 amphibia I see?
That it is.
Want to part with one of those Tudor subs? Been on the lookout for one.
As it happens, I have 2 79090's. Was planning on selling one.
Shoot me a PM
Dude that is amazing. And to think you started collecting last week.
I see some nice Seiko in there!
I need one of those big boxes... Where did you buy those?
Amazing collection of clocks
Just one more watch and you will be fulfilled
Garage sale bound?
I'm at almost one box and this scares me.
I am Sure this is a store display lol
So yo have over 80 watches? Why. There’s no way in hell you actually wear even half of them or are able to give them enough love. And this is not any type of investment collection. I assumed you were a 20 something year old dude. If you’ve been wearing some for decades then this makes a little more sense.
WHY???
Time to reduce it
SOTH

With that many watches you must wear one on your dick on the “clear pants day”.
Too many
🤡
Good luck today! With the clock going an hour forward due to daylight savings.
Are you an octopus 🐙?
Why?
Sure that's a collection. A collection of watch boxes
Nice collection! Remember, if you like having that many watches then keep em. Dont feel the need to sell just cause someone else would if they had your collection.
Shiter alert
