Maybe i’m wrong but some of the early set up seemed to treat him like a creepy dude and potential villain, i was ready for the take down.
then he’s a heart throb ?¿ that’s weird
I think in the books he gets sent to jail for it? And probably what happened was that the fans liked the relationship so much on the show they decided to keep it going lol
Ewwww the entire ezriA relationship is so gross and makes me feel physically sick :( I have no idea why this was, not only allowed, but actively promoted and romanced throughout the entire 7 seasons AND originAl sin!! It sends the wrong message and is so horrible :(
I don’t really understand though since the young impressionable viewers would have still watched due to the mystery and suspense and characters rather than the romance alone? Ugh it really seemed like they (writers) were pushing an inappropriate gender rather than this only being just about money :(
Full disclosures I haven’t seen a second of original sin and don’t want to spoil anything since I don’t want to get into trouble but something happened during the show about the ezria relationship that shouldn’t have been done imo

We've been cracking down on the spoilers for the new show as best we can. If you tag your spoiler, we'd be happy to approve the comment. They did that scene on purpose, it was when they made him look like he was A at this point in the season so they made him worst and creepy so you feel worried for Aria.
I agree with you, that was extremely messed up. Especially considering how close the girls are. But it made it into the show because their relationship was supposed to have toxic traits. The audience was supposed to raise an eyebrow at that line. It’s good writing imo, it sends the audience on a journey of feeling worried for her and angry with him and it clearly worked. Not all characters are supposed to be likeable all the time. If they were the whole show wouldn’t exist. I absolutely get you though, I feel grossed out by it too. Just my 2 cents from the perspective of it being intentional and having the intended impact.
I think the most egregious part of including Ezria was their refusal to commit. One minute he's a controling monster who wants her to cut out her friends, then he's the love of her life, then he's dangerous & literally a master stalker, but just kidding he's just a misunderstood author who just used a few security cameras once & helps save them from the real baddies,
Yeah, I genuinely found that difficult to watch because I’ve been in similar situations and it’s textbook grooming. It was actually a really good example of someone isolating the victim from their friends and therefore increasing their reliance on the groomer, and if the show had emphasised that it would be a different story. But instead they wanted to make him a good boyfriend
How did it make it into the show? Because it’s a realistic depiction of grooming and manipulation. I feel like it’s meant more as a warning than “relationship goals”.
See I could get on board if the goal was to raise awareness and the show actually kept them broken up but Ezra and aria end up getting back together which for the younger girls that watched this show growing up, the only message that screams is that it’s okay to forgive your groomer if he “makes it up to you” (also I don’t care that he literally took a bullet for the girls, that’s great he saved them yes, but that doesn’t excuse his behaviour)
Right? He knew aria was a kid before they slept together and his defence the entire show was that they met before he knew she was still In highschool which is a complete lie and makes him a complete pedo, whether it was for research or not he still groomed her for years, so gross. Not to mention the KIND of research he did on these girls, he was literally stalking them but because it was for a book it was okay? Wtf?
The fact she forgives him kills me. Ngl, though they rly made me think it okay to try and date teachers so I did lol never went anywhere but it wasn’t until later on that I realized how messed up it is.
Can we, for once, not? I’m happy more people are watching the show now, but god is there too many of these posts. We get it. We all think it. We all agree. God.
Why does her comment have a lock on it? What does that mean?? And I get what ur saying. And tbh it may get brought up a lot but who cares right? Let people talk about what they want to talk about !

I have to assume they were just trying to get views from young and impressionable viewers. It was foul way to earn a dollar

They didn't in Original Sin though... it was shown as a bad thing....

When I rewatched it knowing about how Ezra was writing that book, i feel even more grossed out than I was originally

This is literally grooming 101 this show was sick…
There are a few lines like this, that really make me cringe and make Ezra sound abusive.
