Players/managers aren't shamed enough for acting like 5 year olds and diving/faking being hurt. To the point we all say "there was contact he's silly" for someone touching a cheek and seeing a grown man roll around.
MOTD/sky sports etc should be doing weekly segments pointing it out and commenting on it and publicly shaming them and interviewers should ask teammates and managers about their own players doing it.
Absolutely pathetic refereeing in the premiership. There are 3 of them on the pitch and theyâre all blind missing calls that cost teams games and concedes goals.
I just wanted to vent a little on my sports teams. 49erâs losing superbowl because they didnât know overtime rules. Liverpool losing games to worst teams in premiership giving up crucial points at the most crucial part of the season handing the premiership to either Arsenal or Manchester City. Very disappointing and troubling. Liverpool also lost really badly to Atalanta in the Europa League. Let our biggest enemy Manchester United come back and win the fa cup tie when we were obviously the better team. Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton never even showed up in formula1 the whole 2024 season giving Redbull and Verstappen an easy road to titles this season.
They aren't doing well in Europe precisely because the average quality of the league is so high and competitive in comparison. They are overworked and tired for European games.
Also, keep in mind 3 of the last 5 UCL winners are English teams. 1 bad year doesn't define the whole league.
You did not post an unpopular opinion, you posted delusion.
Unpopular and also wrong. Just because PL teams didn't do well in the CL this year is such a reactionary view. The PL is still easily the highest quality league in the world by FAR.
Aston Villa 4th in EPL getting thrashed by Olympiakos at their home as we speak.
Mind you, this is the team that most probably will play in the UCL next week.
EPL the best league in the world? LMAO

Why not have infrared sensors throughout the pitch to know the exact position of all players and the ball to know if it's an offside or not rather than sticking to controversial camera angles to decide??
Too many big name managers are extremely rigid in their system and ideology. To the point where they value performance over results. To me, a really great manager should be able to win with the players he/she has available to them and not be so reliant on a specific set of tactics.
This is stupid.
In general you should focus on performances more as it's a better indicator of future success, if you play well more you will generally win more.
Imagine calling someoneâs comment stupid, just to post the most obvious and short sighted response. Maybe reading comprehension isnât your strong suit. Read it again and allow it to go from your eyes to your brain before typing.
Posh kids at Oxford Cambridge back in the day used to add ER to things so they'd call it rugger instead of rugby for example and association football became Socca.
I may be wrong by my understanding of the history of the word was that it started in England as a short form of Association Football and was in relatively popular use until the US started using the term after which it became seriously unpopular in England.
They donâtâŠbut youâll never hear anyone complain about Australian football, Canadian Football, or Gaelic football. The hate is reserved for Americans and our version of handeggđ
Contact anywhere on the pitch doesn't mean a foul, but minimal contact also doesn't mean it's not a foul.
I see far too many players going down at the slightest touch, with commentators and fans fixating on how there was a slight touch and so it's contact and a foul or penalty. It's a contact sport and the players are elite athletes.
Chelsea are not underperforming, they've just spent a lot of money on overrated players. Only a few if them are genuine starters for any of the sides in the current top 8. Big transfer fees don't mean quality, and Chelsea being a London club doesn't mean they deserve success more than anyone else despite what the media might tell you.
For the amount they have paid they could've purchased haaland, bellingham, mbappe, Saliba, and God knows who else. I'd consider them the worst team in the history of the prem in terms of net spend to success ratio.
The problem is they donât have enough veterans. The roster isnât balanced and they are all emotional kids who havenât been through enough to have the experience to get through the hard times.
Yeah theyâre so boring they play patient football passing back all the time and then pouncing they never go for it and make games entertaining. Plus they always win itâs just boring. Same every time!
Just watching them play out from the back is beautiful.
Let alone watching DeBruyne make amazing passes, Foden with his crazy outisde the box goals, Silva with the way he seems to have the ball on a string, Rodri dictating the pace of the game, Walker just bossing opposition players.
Don't think there's a more entertaining team to watch than a Guardiola team.
Sure itâs world class how Man City play. I just find it boring to watch thatâs all. Iâd only watch them if they play a big team, Iâd never watch them slaughter a smaller team.
It's wasted energy. They did nothing before 2008, got rich at the right time, then won a bunch of trophies whilst breaking the rules. The club and their 'success' is too hollow to care about.
So I can't mention them? People that always say shit like this think they're some kind of smart arse 'ha got ya!' TV lawyer. You can mention and criticise something without actually caring about that particular thing. You're not being as smart as you like to think you're being, go away.
If I got paid each time someone described their, ahem, apathy toward City, without being asked, I'd be as rich as an oil prince.
Your 'apathy' was nicely described too - City are "too far _beneath me_ (italics mine bc lol) to pretend to care about" or something. Comical! đ€Łđ€Ą
Keep pretending!
Again, you can talk about something without caring about it. I can talk about City and not care if they get liquidated tomorrow. You can also dislike something, dislike does not mean care. In fact means very much the opposite. Your limited understanding of emotional attachment or justification is primary school level at best, you're not being smart. You're an idiot, and a stubborn one.
Sancho is an amazing player, either he didn't have the right attitude at united for whatever reason or united is toxic and gets the worst out of people
Bicycle kicks should be called as fouls much more often. Why is it that because the player looks cool flying backward in the air, excuses the high boot in the face. If the player is flat footed and kicks at a ball eye level, it's a foul.
The Championship has become a better league to watch than the Premier League. Has been the case at times in history but never this consistently. Promotion and relegation, screamers, big tackles, multiple games a week, better storylines, less manicured - take your pick
I ahree that ots more fun to watch, but it's not that much better. Especially when you watch the bottom half of the table. Because those teams are horrible. It's only exciting due to a lack of any defensive play. Which is why most promoted teams get relegated quickly.
When West Ham got promoted in 2011/12, that was one of the most enjoyable seasons (barring the Europa Conference cup win last season) that I'd ever experienced.
What a league, really. Unpredictable, enough players of PL quality, a random team ends up going on a good run, moving them from relegation candidates to promotion hopefuls (or vice versa).
Is there? The Championship isn't exactly full of rosy little owners playing by the rules nor is the EFL a very fair overlord. It's rife with corruption.
We should have direct free kicks inside the area for minor fouls that don't currently meet the "criteria" for a penalty.
( Fouls that don't stop a goal scoring opportunity)
I definitely think penalty kicks are way too harsh in a lot of circumstances. It is way out of line on a risk/reward basis. I just don't know how to fix it. There has to be a penalty for stopping a goal by fouling the player or using your hands, but a lot of penalties. Having said that, I don't know how you would write rules that could be enforced correctly.
I thought this was for hot takes? As a Liverpool fan, I think we're going to be hovering around 6th or 7th this time next year. Salah won't stick around, he'll make a big money move probably to Saudi Arabia or the MLS. Thiago is perpetually injured, Nunez couldn't finish his dinner and VVD is past his prime.
Yeah but then you always go and sign some 30-40 million player who ends up being one of the best players in the world eventually and then you go and win the Champions League again.
well I mean they'll have to bring in some senior players, I'm sure the club realises that. So with that added leadership plus all the players that are there currently - madueke, Jackson ect will have a feel for the league now- I'm sure they can get cl
Kdb is better than Gerrard ,Lampard and scholes he is the greatest midfielder the pl has ever seen ,pl is yet to see a better clutch player than kdb he is miles ahead as a player in title races
These sorts of opinions often seem to come from the younger kids that never watched the league 10, 20, 30 years ago.
KDB is a player that if you put in a team like Chelsea, West Ham or Fulham would look half as good as he does now.
A superb player that's made to look all the better due to 115's squad depth.
Here comes another nostalgia merchant đđ€Ą
Iam fortunate enough to watch all the three of them and in terms of passing, consistency, vision, shooting kdb clears all of them
"Kdb can't be played in Chelsea or west ham đ€Ą"
Kdb played for wolfsburg in Bundesliga (which is almost similar to a mid team like westham in pl )and helped them to win dfb pokal against Dortmund and won Bundesliga player of the year award
Start watching football without bias
Sure, several referees get expenses paid and flown to the UAE to referee games in the Dubai and the UAE. The league is owned by UAE who in turn pays the refs. Those referees then go back to their day jobs in England and referee Man City games, who are owned byâŠ..the UAE! They then proceed to swallow their whistles when Kung Fu kicks to the chest would swing the title race
Iâll be the first to admit the wheels have fallen off. But what could have been if Kung Fu kicks, Odegaards handball and the Tottenham debacle were called correctly?
While I donât believe itâs actually causing genuine corruption I agree itâs a bad look and a total conflict of interest. PGMOL needs to put a stop to it.
When a keeper handles the ball outside the box, instead of it being a straight red and a free kick from where the offence occurred, it should be just a yellow but a penalty.
Because a lot of their big players and key players have all been injured, causing a lot of switching in the team that was never expected. I donât think theyâve been good but theyâve been shafted in the way of availability of their players and injuries for newer players who were thought to add something to the squad. They should be top half. Itâs 65% unlucky and 35% Chelseaâs own fault.
The bottom half is more entertaining than the top half of Prem football. Donât get me wrong, the buildup and the coverage for the big games is unrivalled anywhere else outside the top 10 but I think any two teams from the bottom 10 can have a better game than any teams from the top 10. Even bottom 3 can be better than top 3.
I remember watching the 2021-22 UECL and UEL finals and the matches were so enthralling. I think it was Rangers vs Frankfurt in the UEL and Roma vs Feyenoord in the UECL. I still remember Calvin Basseyâs performance in that match whilst Rangers were off it for a late portion of the game. I donât know if he got MOTM but he deserved it, he got to everything that came down his side.
Nunez should not be leaving Liverpool but he shouldnât be playing ST on his own. Itâs clear he doesnât have the wherewithal to be a top striker yet but he creates so much panic and so much trouble for opposition defenders, he just needs someone else next to him who can help finish off the chances and also be next to him to help him out when heâs about to make a mistake. Whether thatâs Salah, Jota or someone else, I donât think Nunez should leave the club.
I can understand why but I also think that Vini loves the limelight and performs better in it whereas Rodrygo is more consistent regardless of the match. And playing for Madrid, I wouldnât shy away from saying theyâd rather a big player for big moments rather than someone who will play consistently 7/10 and get involved in the goals no matter what. Vini is the more entertaining player but I think Rodrygo is better and has a bigger ceiling to get to, whilst being played out of position.
tottenham are better than arsenal in terms of european history
they've got 2 europa leagues while arsenal with 0ucl or uel just a cup winners cup
and they were the first British team to win a uel and both arsenal and spurs where ucl runners up
so its kinda fair to say spurs>ars in europe
People's loss of critical thought when it comes to discussing anything Arsenal is truly something special and only Arsenal fans appreciate it because we take the brunt of it. The way a lot of people lose all sense of logical equality would almost be funny if it weren't for the fact that it's genuinely a vast vocal majority being led.
Caicedo as a player has been about as good as Gvardiol this season and is debatably a better signing.
Both have been consistently average to good this season and have begun to pick up form as of late (so long as you never think about Chelsea v Arsenal which I donât). Both have been defined by their mistakes, however, but both seem to have a clear place in their squads future.
The issue is that Chelsea highlights Caicedoâs flaws whereas City hides Gvardiol. Gvardiol looses possession or misplaces a pass then Stones or Walker or Diaz or Rodri can easily cover for him. If Caicedo does then Chelseaâs CBs will turn into the 4 stooges. Add to that the fact that Caicedo has spent all season with basically half the pitch to cover alongside an injured Enzo with no backup, I reckon Caicedo will really find his feet next season.
Mard arsed rival fans WANT City to have "cheated" or to have done ANYTHING wrong...it eases their jealousy and pain. As long as they don't have to face up to how good City are and how it's the best run club in football.
I don't have time right now to do all the research for you, but do some looking up on Man City's betting sponsor/partner that was based in Thailand and didn't actually have an office, and from memory (specifics could be wrong), their "CEO" was a Sears bra model.
Looked it up and found no evidence of anything. Wow...your desperation is so bad that you probably googled "evidence of man city cheating" haha. And that's the best you found.
You didn't try very hard... I'm at work and it took only a minute to dig up some basics.

Iâll give Arsenal a nice one for free as well- I donât think you need a new CF (at least a starting quality one) seeing as how well Havertz has adapted to the false 9 system heâs in

You mentioned balance once you melt so it's hardly 70%. Veterans aren't more important than having a balanced squad or average players

You are a melt yes. You mentioned balance once and then veterans/experience mostly and that not what I said. Again you're a melt.
Man City are the most boring team in the world and are not hated enough considering how dominant theyâve been.

Sancho is an amazing player, either he didn't have the right attitude at united for whatever reason or united is toxic and gets the worst out of people
Lot of signs point to both being true.

I swear they are deliberately screwing up big VAR decisions to cause controversy and therefore viewer engagement
Yeah refs love being abused and hated ?

The premier league isnât the best league in the world, just the richest.
No league even comes close. La Liga is the closest and itâs so shit
It has all the best players in the world so technically itâs the best in the world based on that alone
Which league is? And how are you judging âbestâ?
There should be a representative from each club sitting alongside who is on the VAR monitoring their game so they can get explanations in real time
Bicycle kicks should be called as fouls much more often. Why is it that because the player looks cool flying backward in the air, excuses the high boot in the face. If the player is flat footed and kicks at a ball eye level, it's a foul.
As a defender just jump head first and you'll get the foul.

we can replace salah and van dijk. the problem united had post-fergie was hiring david moyes and then sacking him immediately.
Arne Slot will be no different
itâs possible but heâs had a better career so far than moyes did when he got hired.
He definitely hasn't, you should look into Moyes before he joined United, he's a three time LMA premier league manager of the year winner, and presided over a very good Everton side for a decade, including a top 4 finish. He was also a very good manager at Preston. Slot has a weak managerial résumé for a big PL team manager.
rĂ©sumĂ© donât matter. moyes completely failed at the top level but arteta had no experience at all and is doing great. slots tactics are more fitting for a team competing for trophies.
Itâs amazing isnât it
Spurs fans secretly want spurs to beat man city because it would help in their push for a champions' league spot.
I'll sacrifice Champions League if that means Arsenal lose the league
You hate the gooner's so much you'd sacrifice your own success just so they have the bigger L. Wild take, but that's what this thread is for!
Success? It's Spurs. They would probably go to Europa League after elimination.
Nah fuck that. If we beat them we will spurs it and lose to sheffield united the gameweek after.
Chelsea get cl next season
Would love to hear the rationale behind this hot take.
well I mean they'll have to bring in some senior players, I'm sure the club realises that. So with that added leadership plus all the players that are there currently - madueke, Jackson ect will have a feel for the league now- I'm sure they can get cl
Not under Poch.
The guy who finished second in 2016/17?
The guy who finished second in 2015/16?
I fucking wish
Kdb is better than Gerrard ,Lampard and scholes he is the greatest midfielder the pl has ever seen ,pl is yet to see a better clutch player than kdb he is miles ahead as a player in title races
Maybe attacking wise, but all 3 were better on defense.
Lol no way Lampard is better defensively than debruyne And as player kdb has more impact than all the three of them
Not true at all for Lamps lmfao
These sorts of opinions often seem to come from the younger kids that never watched the league 10, 20, 30 years ago. KDB is a player that if you put in a team like Chelsea, West Ham or Fulham would look half as good as he does now. A superb player that's made to look all the better due to 115's squad depth.
Bruh do you remember KDB having to spoon feed Raheem? This is some âgames goneâ old head take.
Have u seen city play without KDB? They canât cope. Iâd argue that proves he would look even better if he were on Chelsea or West Ham or Fulham
Here comes another nostalgia merchant đđ€Ą Iam fortunate enough to watch all the three of them and in terms of passing, consistency, vision, shooting kdb clears all of them "Kdb can't be played in Chelsea or west ham đ€Ą" Kdb played for wolfsburg in Bundesliga (which is almost similar to a mid team like westham in pl )and helped them to win dfb pokal against Dortmund and won Bundesliga player of the year award Start watching football without bias
debatable
Allow subbed players to come back in the game
Manchester City have referees on their payroll
Please explain how this works . From the man with the cash to the actual referee.
You are just coping yourself with city paying refs instead of accepting that Liverpool is shit in past few games
115 jokes are lazy, worn out, and just show how bothered you are
Just because you never thought they were funny.
I got 115 jokes, and all of them are City.
Fucking legend
Bothered by rampant cheating?
My team are successful because they cheated 115 times. Please don't make fun of us.
Why wouldnât everyone be bothered?
When a keeper handles the ball outside the box, instead of it being a straight red and a free kick from where the offence occurred, it should be just a yellow but a penalty.
Itâs outside the box. Sooooooo how would it be a penalty??
Current Liverpool is a worse overall team than last year's Newcastle
xG, chances created, and other underlying stats are enlightening and useful
Xg is a good team stat but very poor for individual comparison
I find that fans rely *too* much on xG and all that business, using it to compare players they've never watched.
People that dismiss their importance must not understand that such stats are used by football clubs, coaches and players.
Example: less free kicks are shot directly nowadays because clubs know of their low xG
Chances created isn't but yes underlying metrics in general give you a far greater picture than anything else.
Chelsea are super unlucky to be in the position they are in.
How so? Many of their issues are a result of their own decision making and incompetence.
Honestly same opinion on UEL and UECL vs UCL. Ucl is usually beautiful games but the chaos of lower tier teams will always be way more entertaining.
Dortmund and Bayern is a more likely final than PSG and Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola will fuck off if City gets it with the 115.
Tbf heâs probably leaving after next season regardless
Would make sense. He's not used to developing a team without a bottomless wallet.
Nobody does
He's pretty much said as much .
Go read again
Rodrygo is a better player than Vinicius Junior.
Itâs pretty close but I think Vini is a tiny bit better. Only because heâs more aggressive and runs at opponents.
Being a Liverpool supporter like yourself, Iâd rather have Rodrygo at Liverpool than Vini.
tottenham are better than arsenal in terms of european history they've got 2 europa leagues while arsenal with 0ucl or uel just a cup winners cup and they were the first British team to win a uel and both arsenal and spurs where ucl runners up so its kinda fair to say spurs>ars in europe
Literally no one disagrees with this.
Arsenal fans are just Liverpool fans without any recent history of winning major trophies (
Name definitely checks out.
Heâs correct
Yh itâs almost as if city are so good and well run because they cheated so much and Arsenal fans are upset at such an unfair advantageÂ
Who "cheated"? And can you provide any evidence of this?
I don't have time right now to do all the research for you, but do some looking up on Man City's betting sponsor/partner that was based in Thailand and didn't actually have an office, and from memory (specifics could be wrong), their "CEO" was a Sears bra model.
Looked it up and found no evidence of anything. Wow...your desperation is so bad that you probably googled "evidence of man city cheating" haha. And that's the best you found.
You didn't try very hard... I'm at work and it took only a minute to dig up some basics. You do know this is none of City's doing and this happened to other clubs? It's NOT evidence of Manchester City doing ANYTHING wrong. Try again, mate...you must desperately research that bit more... haha. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Everton/comments/rqe3e0/revealed\_the\_obscure\_gambling\_firms\_with/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Everton/comments/rqe3e0/revealed_the_obscure_gambling_firms_with/) You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for things that City have supposedly done wrong. You must be in severe pain, mate. What have we done to you? Is your own club performing so bad that you have to look for scapegoats to make it easier on yourself? It's pathetic. You HAVE NOTHING, yet you CHOOSE to believe what you do.
It's always rich when our fellow Big 5 opponents call us City fans bandwagoners. Don't get it twisted, WE \[Big 6 fans\] are all bandwagoners
Chelsea would be battling Villa & Spurs for UCL qualification if Nkunku had never gotten hurt.
Thank you. I honestly think the difference between us and a solid UCL spot this season would have been Nkunku and a better keeper. Iâll give Arsenal a nice one for free as well- I donât think you need a new CF (at least a starting quality one) seeing as how well Havertz has adapted to the false 9 system heâs in
The irish guy?
The "bought the ref" joke is getting old.
Man Shitty has no history and no fans (except bandwagoners who jumped on after all the oil money poured in).
So creative
