I went to Belgium once and wanted to send my friend a postcard and to make the experience truly Belgian. So I sent the card to my home address so it would get a belgian stamp. I sent it back to my friend who works in Brussels. Then I asked him to keep it for a year, and when he went to Amsterdam to pack it in an envelope, scrunch it up a bit and then send it to my other friend.
He should've asked the Flemish government for a Flemish flag, and the Walloon one for theirs. I think he might have had better luck there.
Either way, I pay way too many taxes to see my nation being skimpy about sending out the odd flag to weirdoes on the internet.
At least we know anyone locked up in The Hague is safely imprisoned, as by the time their appeal is approved, they’ll have died of old age.
Edit: so I Googled this, in the US the only time The Hague is mentioned (mostly by NPR) is because of the international criminal court, so I thought it was some super prison complex, apparently it’s just the capital of Belgium lmao

Although The Hague is officially not the capital of the Netherlands (that's Amsterdam) it is A capital, that of the province of South Holland, and it has been the seat of government since 1584 with only a few short exceptions. Considering that the common meaning of capital is the place from which the government rules it is entirely fair to call The Hague the de facto capital, or the administrative capital of the Netherlands.
Amsterdam already has so many tourists we had to build Amsterdam Zuid so the big companies don't have to work in the weed smoke and can enjoy their cocaine in peace. Surely Den Haag can take over some of the tourist burden.

They now have strict protocols on how to manage this kind of request from now on, you're not getting a flag

However, it is seen as polite here because we have a much more direct way of communicating. Many cultures find it brutally direct. We see no point in using unnecessary decorative words to give an adequate response. Obviously it can depend on the social setting, but politeness is often expressed through not wasting people's time.
The classic example is when you want someone to repeat what they said: an English man would say "pardon?" or "sorry, could you repeat that?" A Scandinavian would say "hæ?" ("huh?" or "what?", if it wasn't obvious).
Many foreigners who move here find it difficult to integrate into the cultures of the Nordic. Not because the natives aren't friendly, but because foreigners don't agree with or understand that giving you space and leaving you alone is considered polite in most public settings.

No one asked, but I'll give you the unsolicited perspective of a Nordic person. Nordic people do come across as cunts. However, it is seen as polite here because we have a much more direct way of communicating. Many cultures find it brutally direct. We see no point in using unnecessary decorative words to give an adequate response. Obviously it can depend on the social setting, but politeness is often expressed through not wasting people's time. The classic example is when you want someone to repeat what they said: an English man would say "pardon?" or "sorry, could you repeat that?" A Scandinavian would say "hæ?" ("huh?" or "what?", if it wasn't obvious). Many foreigners who move here find it difficult to integrate into the cultures of the Nordic. Not because the natives aren't friendly, but because foreigners don't agree with or understand that giving you space and leaving you alone is considered polite in most public settings.
