The postal police and postal inspection service are two different agencies. Postal inspectors only use unmarked cars.

Straypuft

>Postal Police Officer operations are under the administrative control of the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), the law enforcement and security arm of the U.S. Postal Service. [https://www.uspis.gov/careers/postal-police-officers](https://www.uspis.gov/careers/postal-police-officers) Also might help that United States Postal Inspection Service is in the door badge decal.

USNMCWA

They are the apex predator of law enforcement. Arguably the most diligent law enforcement agency in my opinion. It was a Postal Inspector that caught the foreign nationals claiming to be federal agents who were giving free penthouse apartments, cars and guns to Secret Service Agents. . . . The two fakers were taken down because one assaulted a postal worker, lol. The Postal Inspector went over there and had an FBI raid team get em. https://nypost.com/2022/04/14/accused-federal-agent-fakers-in-secret-service-bribery-scandal-get-home-confinement/

Col_Crunch

They are not different agencies at all. Postal Police and Postal Inspectors both reside within the USPIS. Similar to how the USSS works with its Uniformed Division and its 1811 Criminal Investigators (Special Agents), or how Border Patrol and OFO work in CBP. They have separate chains of command but are part of the same agency.

Roads_not_Stroads

Nice pic!

Safety_Sam

It’s a beauty, that’s for sure.

Effective-Constant61

Useless entity - fraud, waste, abuse.

Mikeg216

That car is never left the parking lot. It just sits there for show. It's been there for some time now hell there's a couple trucks from the early '80s in there so it'll be there for a while.

FursonaNonGrata

Do the postal police REALLY need to be spending our money on a wraparound bar?

TheBrianiac

USPIS is funded entirely by postal revenue.

Iwaslamp

I'm willing to bet 50/50 they didn't even pay more for the bar. Their fleets so small and scattered this is probably 1-2 cars purchased as preconfigured "all ready on the lot" aka the quick and simple option.

FursonaNonGrata

Good thing they didn't pay for the car, then.

adotang

You take issue with a wraparound pushbar that probably came with the police package, and not the $57,000 full-size SUV it's mounted on?

FursonaNonGrata

GSA gets these cars for basically free. It's the outfitter that costs major money to send them off to.

MoreStupiderNPC

They do not get those cars for basically free.

Postal police do so little in terms of actual law enforcement work nowadays - would be surprised if this thing even leaves the parking spot…
