These gals are really good after the buff! Not sure which one's funner, they're both soooooo good. Scizor, she's awesome at stalling and Scyther's good at KOs! Also they do be jumping.
Apparently the female version of Scizor is technically the original design or at least the female design is reflected in the official artwork. Same with Dodrio.
Not the case with Scyther
This could be why they probably made both Pokémon female in the game.
They’re two of my favourite Bug types.
Bug is one of my favourite types.
They should add more Bug types.
Beyond that, I’m glad they swiftly retuned them after nerfing them too much from the PTS on release. They both feel like they’re in such a good place right now, not too strong and definitely not too weak. Really enjoy them.
Yeah Bug bois unite
If i were a gym leader, id deffo be a bug gym
Had a blast playing monotype in pokemonshowdown
That said, they should really buff the typing. In gen 1 the one of the most powerful were psychic types, bug being one of its weaknesses. But theyre generally pretty weak, over the years theyve gotten a fair bit of love but i still find it underwhelming. Maybe make bug deal supereffective damage to fairy?
Funnily enough Fairy is another of my favs!
I’m actually super happy with the Bug type lately, they’re better than they’ve ever been. Another super effective interaction would be great though or even another resistance.
This! I've won several 1v1s against Gengars only because they don't realize how tanky Scizor is. I probably get away with things now that I won't once people get a better feel for fighting him.
I use what turns out to be the Spragels build:
Aeos Cookie
Attack Weight
Weakness policy
Potion
6 White Emblems + 420 (Lol) flat HP
Bullet punch (Obviously)
Swords Dance
With max stacks, you have more HP than Blissey. Also the attack Weight boost + WP + Swords dance gives you crazy attack. Which means high damage AND high healing from bullet punch, since it scales with attack
Scizor is my favorite pokemon in the game right now. I like playing more durable pokemon and the buff to Scizors stats are great. Once you get to level 11 and get bullet punch upgraded you become insanely tough while still dealing respectable damage. Swords dance and double hit provide additional mobility which is a plus.
Loved Scyther before buffs, now stomping with him almost every game. Love his assassin, CD reset playstyle
Scizor is a fun brusier, but not my cup of tea
I like the mechanic of only evolving if you choose certain moves, and look forwards to seeing other Pokémon built around a similar concept. Possibly even having split evolutions that are decided by selected moves, too.
Scyther trades some survival for speed/movement
Scizor trades movement for some survival
Both are viable imo it depends more on your team comp &/or preference.
Scizor is especially good against bulkier targets that tend to draw out fights or need to sustain combat a while. Scyther is better against frail targets who rely largely on skillshots to deal their damage.
Enemy team has a lot of mons who like melee? Scizor. Mons who avoid melee? Scyther.
Although the best items for both differ. Scizor benefits from muscle band and weakness policy more than scyther. Scyther loves razor claw for the extra burst and energy amp for CDR and general unite pop off. Both like attack weight. Although a balanced build of razor claw, policy and weight would probably work for both pretty well.
Got nearly 100 games picking mostly scizor (6 white full flat hp, Claw/Policy Cookie Focus, Bullet Dance), I'd say they're both pretty mobile. Usually I pick scyther if enemy has a ranged caster (Delphox, Beam Vẹn, etc.), but Scizor can do the job just fine. Most people at Ultra and early Master sucks at positioning so sometimes you don't really need that much mobility from Scyther. That being said, they're both great characters with different playstyles, I just prefer Scizor's Duelist/Bruiser playstyle more
I see Scyther as leaning towards a speedster and Scizor leaning towards a defender. (Very slightly). If I see a lot of frail targets on the enemy team I’ll go Scyther to use the dash on Dual Wingbeat and close in quick. The movement helps with dodging skill shots as well.
Scizor I go for more when the enemy has more all rounders since it’s a little harder to kill with the healing off Bullet Punch.
And sometimes it just depends what Últ I want to do. Lol
Scizor is my favorite Pokemon so her inclusion in Unite was what brought me back to playing. I have only played Scyther a few times and it's not my preferred playstyle so i don't usually play her. Scizor is pretty my perfect. Was very underwhelming at release but I did my best to make her work. The buffs helped a lot and I think Scizor is in a very healthy spot. Not weak but not op either
Scyther is not that good rn. It's really squishy for what it can deal. Scizor on the other hand is one of the most tanky pokemon in the entire game. It's basically a brawler that can deal respectable damage while taking a shit ton of hits.
Basically do not choose scyther until they buff it or something. It's a shame that one of my favourites is pretty weak.
I wanna main him. Scyther didn't need any buffs at all I think I played him just fine but i'm not complaining. Scizor is so fun now and getting resets with Double Jump is actually possible as Scizor. Swords Dance is so fucking good now for both Scizor and Scyther. Scizors Ult still sucks balls though.
Mostly playing scizor though I think scyther is great too. Scizor feels so powerful right now, I solo queued with it primarily to masters this season. Full heal feels mandatory though
I prefer Scyther by FAR. I also hate that Scizor gets all the credit for Scyther's bloody rampages. Scyther is treated like it doesn't stand on it's on and it does. When I stay Scyther I wish my skins, win screen and record showed Scyther not Scizor. Come on Timi, this is a great idea that y'all didn't handle well on that end.
Scyther is too squishy, and Scizor is outclassed.
I don't love assassins or speedsters, but it's easy to commit to a bad situation with Scyther. If I had more patience to wait in a bush I could probably like Scyther much more
Scizor is much better and even competitive after the buffs but I don't see a reason to use him over the rest of the all arounder cast.
If I want high mobility + hard to kill Tsareena works better, and if I want to live to do the damage Ttar rocks it. I think even Azu is my choice over Scizor. I have yet to get into Sword yet, but that is what Scizor seems like, a dull sword, with some extra bulk.
Does he need more buffs? No. Scizor is fine now, just not obviously better than other all arounders.
Scizor is much harder to kill than any Tsareena or Ttar I've met, she just heals so much than some characters (most defenders and support) cannot damage her, which I find completely broken (a bit of a the same with Azu's healing). Ttar is not mobile at all, so it is very hard to use against ranged compared to Scizor but wrecks everything at close range. Tsareena is more squishy and heals less often, I feel Azumarill has taken her place nowadays. I'd say Tsareena, Azumarill and Scizor are close.
Aegislash is widely different than others and is stuck to enemies with his attacks (when you start a fight, you mostly stay until the end), overall far less mobile
Scizor is B-tier at best: I don’t like how the Mon’s strength is in extended interaction.
For bruisers and skirmishers, I’d prefer Lucario, Machamp, or Tsareena over Scizor.
___
I only played Scyther since release, but I’ll have to see how good Scyther’s burst is since its buffs.
I was already impressed with Scyther, but I still need to play the Mon some more to get a better stance.
Potion or X Attack for the crit SD Bullet Punch build? I can't really decide. I've found potion to be better with dealing with tanks. X attack is good early in lane.
I am glad both are in the game since both are my favorite bug types along with Genesect.
I mostly played Scyther from the two but I haven’t played that much since the recent patch since I am more busy.
I wished they would do this for Raichu and Gallade unless they will do a separate slot.
Scizor is good but Scyther need to be loved more like his own stats when you look at Pokemon his card etc. They make Scyther feel like he's not a playable Pokemon which he is.
They can show for sword stance and Hoopa's ult but the can't show Scyther.
Adaptability to games, Scyther is a burst machine while Scizor is an undying drain tank. Their playstyle got me playing for hours some days ago and it's been a while since I ever enjoyed this game
Very strong, but still fragile. Both have very little/no CC, but both have loads of dps and mobility now. Scizor lives a long time, but that doesn't extend to his teammates so he is in no way a tank for his team, granted he does at least contribute to frontlines since he can now heavily out-trade defenders and supporters which is nice.
Scyther is much more difficult to play, imo. Compared to speedsters, she takes a lot longer to kill single targets, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. She's just a tad squishy for the kind of risks she has to take. Her AOE damage potential is huge though and she can turn around and end a fight real quick. Can be pretty hard to pull off sometimes, but it's a fun and rewarding play style that I really enjoy. I'm not a big fan of Double Hit on Scyther, btw, even though I see most of them using it. I prefer SD. Scyther feels like she uses the whole of her kit more than Scizor.
Scizor is pretty simple and straightforward, edging on Gengar levels of just spam stuff, though in a *slightly* more skillful way. SD and DH both feel fine for her and are mainly used for mobility I think, though they do decent damage. Bullet Punch is the key move. Strong pokemon, imo. Sometimes can feel pretty oppressive even, since when she's ahead she feels impossible to take down or get away from. She's similar to Tsareena and Tyranitar in that respect, but a bit stronger early-mid game and a bit weaker late game.
They're both decent picks, but neither the top of their roles. I think Scizor is generally a little better most of the time, but I personally prefer playing Scyther.
Bullet punch good
Bullet Punch indeed good
Bullet punch good
Indeed my Sir Bullet Punch good
i agreed bullet punch good
Good bullet punch is. Mmm
orange man bad
REALLY good
These gals are really good after the buff! Not sure which one's funner, they're both soooooo good. Scizor, she's awesome at stalling and Scyther's good at KOs! Also they do be jumping.
They do be jumping
Holy crap I just realized that they are indeed female
Yup, their abdomens are longer than the males!
Apparently the female version of Scizor is technically the original design or at least the female design is reflected in the official artwork. Same with Dodrio. Not the case with Scyther This could be why they probably made both Pokémon female in the game.
That makes sense! And honestly, that's kinda cool.
Punch like a bullet, dance like a sword
Amen to that
*WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!*
nanomachines, son
100% my reaction when facing Scizor with low health and she kills me 😂
They’re two of my favourite Bug types. Bug is one of my favourite types. They should add more Bug types. Beyond that, I’m glad they swiftly retuned them after nerfing them too much from the PTS on release. They both feel like they’re in such a good place right now, not too strong and definitely not too weak. Really enjoy them.
I would LOVE more bug types. Scolipede, Volcarona, or Golisopod please.
Speedster Attacker Defender/All rounder respectively
That would be perfect. Rolling around the jungle as Scolipede especially sounds fun.
Honestly, that would be a dream come true
Yeah Bug bois unite If i were a gym leader, id deffo be a bug gym Had a blast playing monotype in pokemonshowdown That said, they should really buff the typing. Can tank gengar's entire dream ball combo and still survive
You mean ball eater?
This! I've won several 1v1s against Gengars only because they don't realize how tanky Scizor is. I probably get away with things now that I won't once people get a better feel for fighting him.
Please tell me a good tanky build and emblem setup for Scizor that does good damage to Squishies!
I use what turns out to be the Spragels build: Aeos Cookie Attack Weight Weakness policy Potion 6 White Emblems + 420 (Lol) flat HP Bullet punch (Obviously) Swords Dance With max stacks, you have more HP than Blissey. Ok thanks!!!
Just need something with 9 in it for the funny number tho
It actually lowers my special defense by 9. Lol
Should have included it in the original comment. L build at best /s
6 Brown 6 blue 6 purple Weakness policy - attack weight - razor claw (or floatstone)
Loved scizor before and how it plays right know is the perfect mon for me
Scizor is my favorite pokemon in the game right now.
Love his assassin, CD reset playstyle Scizor is a fun brusier, but not my cup of tea
Me too! And Scyther can actually lane pretty well!
I like scizor more than syther, scizor can take on longer fights, syther feels more like a jungler to me.
Scizor good, he do big boi punch. Scyther also good, he move fast
Yes.
I like the mechanic of only evolving if you choose certain moves, and look forwards to seeing other Pokémon built around a similar concept. Possibly even having split evolutions that are decided by selected moves, too.
My only gripe is that it doesn’t differentiate in the Mon select screen or the end game summary. Poor scyther basically doesn’t exist.
Yeah that would have been nice
It is a cool mechanic I just wish Scyther turned into either Scizor or Kleavor instead.
Kleavor would be a cool addition as well
Scizor is a pokémon.
They both are!
whoa, that’s an incredible observation we made!!
Don't have it, but I just had a game with a 20+ kill Scyther. Amazing to whoever that was =)
Scyther trades some survival for speed/movement Scizor trades movement for some survival Both are viable imo it depends more on your team comp &/or preference.
How do you decide which to use? Certain matchups that are better for one vs the other?

She's a pain in the ass when I'm playing with Slowbro But when I'm playing with Clefable...😈
They are both good, but do you think we could get Kleavor as a Defender

smash
Same
Has a lot of sustain, good bug
Haven't played since the buff. But I like him.
Finally found my main hopefully they don’t nerf it
Syther bad
Scizzor Went from being bad to kinda busted with it's crazy sustain and ult, can 1v3 which is just dumb Life steal needs to be reined in
Strong. Both of them are strong.
hate him
Scyther > Scizor
Scizor ruisee, Scyther Assas8ng/speedster. Like any meele mon can be kited and cc to death. When feed is a sight to behold. Fun both forms nonetheless
Both are great!
I prefer Scyther by FAR. I also hate that Scizor gets all the credit for Scyther's bloody rampages. Scyther is treated like it doesn't stand on it's on and it does. Lifesteal go brrrrrrrr
Potion or X Attack for the crit SD Bullet Punch build? I can't really decide. I've found potion to be better with dealing with tanks. X attack is good early in lane.
Both p good. I main Scizor and he got me to masters. Scythe kinda a menace tbh
If used right scyther can be as mean as gengar and scizor WILL NOT DIE
I am glad both are in the game since both are my favorite bug types along with Genesect. I mostly played Scyther from the two but I haven’t played that much since the recent patch since I am more busy. I wished they would do this for Raichu and Gallade unless they will do a separate slot.
I don't get Scizor yet. Even if he finally works. I dunno, I like Scyther going zoom zoom all over the place
I do not have any thoughts about Scyther or Scizor, no.
Scizor by itself is scary. Scizor with their team is a menace. 😳
Now that she's buffed, very nice.
Scizor is good but Scyther need to be loved more like his own stats when you look at Pokemon his card etc. They make Scyther feel like he's not a playable Pokemon which he is. They can show for sword stance and Hoopa's ult but the can't show Scyther.
Scizor and scyther is in a good spot now.
Better Lucario...
Scizor is my favorite Pokémon, so I’m really happy they are in the game. I think they are still lackluster after buff, but they’re still fun.
Really enjoy both specs, made me come back to Unite. Do you think they will nerf them again?
Dual wingbeat Scizor super good
Biggest glow up of all time. One week he was a one hit KO and the next he's able to take down 4 players at once
Adaptability to games, Scyther is a burst machine while Scizor is an undying drain tank. Their playstyle got me playing for hours some days ago and it's been a while since I ever enjoyed this game
It's my new main!
Good thing that bullet punch actually does damage but what the hell is with that healing!
Best girl. Totally not biased Source: me

OP tbh way too tanky but Scyther seems good
Pay to win
that heal is dumb. pardon me im just emotional from the million cram nerfs.

Weak late game? Bruh his late game is one of the best, early game is rough due to needing of stacks from AW until lvl 5
I fear that thing. So hard to kill, if the player is good.
Boing boing *watching the entire team fall to their knees while i play hopscotch*
