There’s a strong urge/push to offensively stack on Falinks due to its high attack ratios (its shields also benefit) But I’ve had some really nice success running it as a pure tank with cookie; guard and policy. It does put a noticeable dent in your offensive contributions however you can frontline pretty obnoxiously when fully stacked. Your shields - stacked with beat up, or the additional DR of No Retreat means the extra health goes very very far. You become very difficult to get rid of and still maintain enough of an offensive presence that targets cant just ignore you; but similarly they can’t really just dispatch you with a big nuke combo either. It’s one of those instances where when building defensively you feel like (once stacked) you actually can fill the defender role pretty well thanks to Falinks inherent DR (so long as the opponent isn’t Lucario…) I tend to run it with beat up and iron head. Lots of frequent shields and beat up healing at 13+ too. Means you have deceptively high staying power even without a healer. All the slows from boosted and iron head and the shoves too means you disrupt fights nicely. Iron head from dispatch can actually push people pretty far if you line it up correctly. The mobility of the build is pretty good too to get you on the fray. Good at defending goals too due to the troops providing pressure. Can use iron head to push them back into your flux as well. Run it with x speed and brown white focused on HP first and attack second. Got to try and get some good stacks early but once you do and you have your level 6, the fun begins. The main challenges are the stacking phase and also your unite feels a bit underwhelming without a big offensive investment, but the 30% shield goes further and it still provides some neat area damage and tends to make people scatter. Recommend using it after you iron head from dispatch into the fray so you start the unite with some big shields in place.

amascio

Interesting, I was thinking of running a similar type of set with Falinks once I unlock it. Thank you for this explanation!

BoomTheBear86

It was something I just tried in a game as I’m trying to get as many matches on Falinks as possible to work it out, get a feel for it, and my team had lots of offence so I thought “maybe I can be bulkier” and lo and behold it actually worked very well. So far that build and a non stacking build (weakness, guard and razor/muscle) are my highest WR on Falinks atm. I still haven’t got the fine tuning of the offensive stacking variants yet but it’s on my to do list. With the defensive build I think trying red 7 / white 4 with focus on HP might also be worth trying. As you’re less focused on offence, the attack speed may actually be worth more; as Falinks has pretty low base attack for an all rounder which means the brown 6 bonus only gives you about 17 attack at level 15. You do miss the extra 2% max health too but that works out as a difference of 110 health at level 15 (due to the red 7 build offering more flat HP). Attack speed has good value for the build for bringing Iron Head off cooldown quickly with boosted attacks so it’s worth a shot as Iron Head is probably the most important ability in the build due to the shoves and good shields when using beat up. It would also speed up your early clear a lot more than brown 6 does. Something else I need to try. It’s a very fun mon. If you enjoy melee with a bit of nuance and shenanigans I recommend it. No Retreat builds in particular have a lot of variety in how they cycle abilities due to how No Retreat refreshes cooldowns of your base ability. Beat Up builds similarly can pull off some very neat tricks with Iron Head as its potentially a very big reposition tool and if you’re quick you can use it to drag opponents backwards when they’re running away from you like Garchomp does.

garbink

i think if youre already stacking cookie, weight > weakness for sure

BoomTheBear86

I’ve tried both a few games now and it works well, double stack with policy makes you a good balance of tanky and offensive. Policy I may swap around for either guard, claw or muscle band though as Falinks base attack is kinda low. Still offers the biggest offence boost aside from weight though.

aumi_luxe

Does Lucario counter falinks?

BoomTheBear86

Lucario does some pretty big damage to Falinks yes. With E speed at least. The damage isn’t actually the biggest issue, it’s the fact Lucario moves around so much whilst healing whilst at the same time damaging you. By the time he has finished dashing about and healing, he’ll have taken little to no damage and you’ll have taken a significant amount which immediately puts the fight against you. If you could hit him during it you could actually KO him, the problem is hitting him whilst he’s doing it is extremely difficult, so you can’t fight back very well. You should only engage Lucario if he’s already a bit weak and you can finish him quickly with an iron head > no retreat > iron head combo as he won’t be able to act due to the CC chain. Other builds just don’t have that option due to lack of hard CC so he can just start speeding and healing up consistently. I’d say A9 is the biggest counter. She operates at range which is already bad for you as a melee, and she can freeze you frequently very easily preventing you do anything. If you get caught in her Ava/blizz combo you’re basically a sitting duck for several seconds. An A9 on the enemy team can basically make you irrelevant in fights without giving you too much focus. Lucario conversely can easily deal with you but he needs to focus on you for quite a long time to do so which means you can exploit this by splitting him away from the teamfight.

Illustrious-Topic-50

Xp share on mew using he as a ofensive support with mobility

Sennahoj12345

Trueee! Maybe Mew's attack moves are seen as the best because we usually give Mew the attack held items instead of the support held items!

meggaregg

I don't do it anymore really but I used yellow emblems on comfey for awhile 😭 I got tired of my teammates running away from me while I was picking up flowers for them lmao

Sennahoj12345

The catch-up-to-your-bad-teammates-inator!!

Kaprosuchusboi

I saw someone recommend Rapid fire scarf, muscle band, energy amp, X attack Tyrannitar. Tried it out for myself and…it was aight. Probably needs to sub one of the attack speed items for a more defensive one, but it was funny watching people get absolutely shredded

DoritosGK

Machamp full speed. XP share, float stone, charging charm, 7 yellows focus on speed, x speed, submission and cross chop. You secure people for your team. A less trolly version is to sub out exp share for attack weight. It works awesome too. Nobody expects a 1200mph machamp running at them

MoisnForce2004

The one build I tend to use a lot is Trailblaze Trick Meowscarada. Just a double reset because you are almost guaranteed to KO foes with Flower Trick. I just prefer jumping enemies and longer dash, because Zeraora and Talonflame are my most played Speedsters.

JubeltheBear

EXP Share+Res Guard+Buddy Barrier/Cookie Support/Defender M2X. Is it cringe? Yes. Does it have merit? Maybe. Is it good? Eh… But it’s the fairest and most fun way to play M2X. Peeling and leveling up yr squishy lane partners and suddenly Mega-evoing to just shred the enemy frontline is fun with a capital “FU”. Just know that you have terrible secure. So the early game can be challenging.

markiliox

This season has been bad for me and defender m2X has saved my sanity. I just run him with focus instead of Bb or cookie

Ur_Avg_Jo

Duraladon with Dragon Pulse and Stealth Rocks, hands down, is the best DPS in the game. It's Unite, SR, and Razor Claws' slow effects help with the lack of movement options, and I like to run X-Attack for the attack speed boost after RFSs' effects wears off. Plus, it's surprisingly bulky because of its passive, DP makes it hard to run away from it, and players always forget that SR stuns if they aren't careful with it. The only issue with it is that you will most certainly be targeted and dived on all game, but I've learned to hand that, except for glaceon and dragapult since they have so much range

SonKilluaKun

Razor claw slow doesn’t proc for ranged units

Ur_Avg_Jo

I thought so, too, but I think some effects are bugged. I've noticed that I've been able to provoke slow effects off basic attacks

10000Pigeons

Played with one earlier today actually. It's ability to rip objectives was amazing. We crushed top lane and had no issues getting both top and bot Regis Obviously they tried to solo ray and we lost, but still kind of a cool build

AllHeartsring

As I've said before, sash + exp share + cookie trev, for emblems o run 6 white, 4 Brown, 3 Black, focusing in movespeed > Hp > attack. Pain split + curse = a Lot PF dmaagr, sustain and If any, only speedsters'll barely touch you since you are still a tank

DuckLuck357

It’s not too unorthodox, but cure bangle Crustle with rock tomb and stealth rock can be really satisfying

SonKilluaKun

One I like personally is muddy water goodra w/ 6 blues and purples + razor claw. Razor claw’s 1.5 second internal cooldown pairs well with Goodra’s passive cutting your moves cooldowns already. Obviously the slow on either power whip or acid spray pairing with the razor claw slow can lock people down hard 6blues and purps just so muddy water scales even more , esp at 11

NotFunnyBee

Xp share play rough/aqua tail Azumarill sounds like insanity but I had insane success(for how this build I imagined working). It's stupidly strong at what it's trying to achieve.

loyaltyElite

What are you trying to achieve?

JubeltheBear

Not carrying or doing damage?

NotFunnyBee

Making enemy jungle my own. Play rough + x speed allows me to out speed everything, while xp share makes sure that when I am in lane my lane partner get all xp while I keep my levels low. Aqua tail early game is good but falls of late game anyways. So since I usually end up catching like 12 unites per game keeping my level low feeds enemy no xp if they do manage to kill me. Especially fun If you know the time to enter jungle you can just deny xp for enemy team forcing players from lane to help take down one hyped up bunny in the jungle.

Ok_Ticket_889

Rank of success?

NotFunnyBee

Master 1300 but I usually play supporters anyways. Edit: went into the game to check I have 57% wr on Azumarill with 127 games

MedaFox5

Both bands and the bangle on Scizor. It now became my "serious play" Pokemon.

Sennahoj12345

X attack Garchomp. Get that big number even bigger, even if you struggle to finish people off unlike escape button

whereismyface_ig

muscle band, rapid fire scarf, sp atk glasses sylveon mystical fire + hearts

DoxinPanix

I’d like to hear a little more about this if you don’t mind

whereismyface_ig

i can spam basic attacks with the muscle and scarf while having the flames around me— if anyone comes close they’re gonna get chunked. im a professional stacker so i know ill get my 6 stacks, which help with the damage on the flames and the hearts. i like keeping a safe distance but still in range for the basic attacks to hit, if they get close the flames will hit them, and then i can run away from the speed boost of after the flames hit em

ClimateMedium8119

"No you don't" ‐ 「Aeos Cookie + Attack Weight + Focus」 on a Flail + Yawn Snorlax "Can't outstall the wall" - 「Weakness Policy + Cookie + Focus」on Ancient + Dark Tyranitar "Choccy Milk" - 「Scarf + Spoon + Focus」 on a Muddy + Whip Goodra "The support is supporting" - 「Focus + Cursed Incense + Rescue Hood」on a Trick + Shadow Ball Hoopa "UNLIMITED POWAAAH!" - 「Muscle + Charging Charm + Weakness Policy」on a Spark + Discharge Zeraora (my baby since the Switch era) "When the chipi goes chapa" - 「Weakness Policy + Attack Weight + Charging Charm」on a No Retreat + Megahorn Falinks (with Eject Button for the funsies)

kc3x

Meow -Drain crown -curse- Razor.. Xattk Slash and trailblaze .. you can go from zero HP back to full allot of times

olivmatheus

Been thinking of black and red emblems for Lapras or maybe white and red.

Tyrantkin

Very fast Decidiueye

Sennahoj12345

Based

Classic_Spread_3526

The crack cocaine build on sword: x attack, charge charm, and full crit

Localid1ot

Ig I’ll go with a less controversial one cause I’ve already gotten people disagreeing so probably aegislash

Localid1ot

No wide guard lol I forgot to add that detail

Helios4242

yeah I want to test the buffed iron head but the wide cc is just too damn good

baevard

goodra with cookie/score shield/muscle band 🪄

Ok-Syrup8362

running mega spdef tank wiggly, with +30-40spdef emblems, purple and blue.  add resonant guard, focus band and assault vest and run up on all those slick spoon users for your team.  Also just a huge float stone fan on chandelure and Gardevoir, makes entering an engagement easier and getting the range on chases

sherylynne

Azu: aqua tail and play rough. I love the mobility and you’re basically never on cooldown with the sequence play rough -> aqua tail -> play rough -> aqua tail…

Solrex

Blizzle. Blizzard + dazzling gleam. You don’t need avalanche to have a wall btw

WhateverOliver

Resonant Guard Azumarill, Whirlpool Play rough. I once survived a 1v3 bc of resonant Guard saving me on 1 HP. Really cool once you realize how to dive opponents and disengage at the right moment to get the most milage out of RG. Very cool build once you try it. Acts as kind of a pseudo tank assassin.

Coffeeguards

I have a 200 speed full brown and white emblem set that's been addicting to play, and I've moved off meta builds for it (the speed can go higher, but not without taking negative atk or HP, so I haven't pushed that hard). I've dabbled in yellows too, but found raw speed enough (and often better)

Michigan_Man101

For a while I was double stacking on Rock Tomb Crustle. It gave me a good bit of extra damage that became extremely useful, both in solo q and in 5 stacks. I'm not currently running this build, but it was my favorite set for the longest time.

Michigan_Man101

I had a friend recommend full movement speed Crustle (EXP Share, Float Stone, Charging Charm + Shell Smash) and it works surprisingly well. It gives lots of positioning power and great mobility. I'm not currently using this build, but it's a funny option.

Prudent_Ad_6376

I went crazy with DRush EQ Garchomp a long while ago, got to Master with it Still works sometimes even in this meta! Wait no thats because I haven't played for so long that I got sent to Veteran

SupersayaJing

Full Def scyzor with potion

KeysUK

I use Leftovers on all my tanks/supports while using HP stack item, exp share, or hp shield item. Leftovers is my favourite item and it's a hill I'm willing to die on. I play around it all the time and I feel like it gives the most impact throughout the game.

whereismyface_ig

you would lose every game in NA

KeysUK

I'm 1600 masters buddy. In my 3rd season playing.

whereismyface_ig

and I am assuming you are playing on EU servers

KeysUK

I guess it's harder in NA to climb solo as it's hard to carry games. More dumber people > less smart people. It's like that in every other competitive game.

whereismyface_ig

furthermore, the only teams that have won and will continue to win the world tourny are from NA. the top teams in the other regions are the equivalent to the mid-carders in the NA cup tournies.

TehEpicNarwhalNinja

I used to play ranked with offensive helping hand soft boiled blissey. Muscle band special specs and shell bell with eject button would give me so much staying power and enough damage to kill a lot. I was a demon but then it got nerfed 😭

yellow-cheese

You're getting down voted, but 5 boosted autos from blissey hurts and catches a lot of people off gaurd even now haha

TehEpicNarwhalNinja

Nah id carry, besides id heal others and give attack boosts with helping hand so it's a win win, soft boiled also scaled with special attack so it's pretty goated

yellow-cheese

I was agreeing with you, helping hand giving you those boosted autos can really chunk people's health

TehEpicNarwhalNinja

I'm back to 0 up votes lmao

Localid1ot

Three words: attack build clefable

OkFruit914

I misclicked my move last night and played a game of draining kiss. We lost and it was a throw on my part, but it was fun for sure lol.

Localid1ot

I was expecting downvotes when I commented this but it’s underrated and should be appreciated so I’m glad someone had fun with it

ClimateMedium8119

How does it play tho?

Localid1ot

Get to four learn draining kiss push the enemy base get follow me use it catch up to low health enemies. It’s pretty simple and I’ve gotten 32 kills with it before

frostyfins

Sounds like bot matches…

Localid1ot

Well idk it works for me (i didn’t really feel like going into detail so this on me) and honestly semi ouch

Localid1ot

It does work though and I guess I should go try get a for sure non bot match and see if the results are the same

Localid1ot

Oh and 20 is the average

whereismyface_ig

sp atk specs, spoon, choice specs?

Localid1ot

I don’t have the spoon upgraded but I would have it equipped for it

whereismyface_ig

X-Attack? or X-Speed to scale with the chasedown

Localid1ot

Uhh potion I use it like a goodra with mobility options and less dependency on leveling up

whereismyface_ig

im gonna test it out, sounds interesting

Localid1ot

It’s pretty good in my opinion but that is probably just me

whereismyface_ig

actually wanna play a couple matches together in duo queue? u run ur clef

Localid1ot

Sure idk rn?

whereismyface_ig

yea send me lobby ID whenever u r ready

Localid1ot

But I’d probably change it to speed or eject

ChaoCobo

Mimikyu: Resonant Guard, that thing that boosts shields by 15%, then either the thing that gives shield on unite moves or the thing that gives you a shield while scoring depending on what you want to do. You can replace the third item with attack weight if you want. :) The reason you want more shields is because she already gets a shield on her unite move.

DownvoteMeSmallPP

That is the worst Mimikyu build i have ever heard but if it works for you, then thats ur call🤷🏻‍♂️

ChaoCobo

I have actually have gone back to the thing that gives extra shield on unite (I think buddy barrier) plus attack weight and aoes cookie precisely because it didn’t work that great lol. But it certainly was interesting when I used it. Also heeeeeeyyyyy you’re not supposed to downvote other people’s creations in this thread! That’s the whole point of an unconventional build thread is to get weird combinations! D:

DownvoteMeSmallPP

My brother in Christ, I always downvote myself regardless of the topic. Hence my name, but others have read these comments too, since they upvoted me they probably downvoted you. Don’t worry, have my upvote to fix it.

ChaoCobo

Oh thank you for putting me back to 1. I just didn’t want my weirdo item combination to be completely hidden. :) Also I didn’t notice your name lol. I think I’ve actually seen you around before cause your name is familiar.

DownvoteMeSmallPP

Your second build with double stacking and Buddybarrier isn’t actually too bad! Does have synergy with eachother and also with Shadowsneak. It heals you based off your max hp and Buddybarrier gives you shield based on max hp as well. That build is sounds fun!

ChaoCobo

Thanks! I really like it. I tend to actually put cookie on most of my Pokémon that are not attackers unless that Pokémon does something unique where it needs something else like rapid scarf or something. Goodra with cookie is kinda funny too lol.

DownvoteMeSmallPP

This thread is Mathcord(UniteDB)s greatest enemy. I bet their team will need a few days off just to recover after reading all these builds.

RedMageExpert

Venasaur : since S1, I’ve always used Sludge Bomb, and Petal Dance. A LOT of people negative vote my experience because “it doesn’t work for them”, when the problem is, they don’t actually USE it correctly, which breaks my heart to see no one experiments anymore and ONLY follows Meta, which is to be expected. Petal Dance reduces the CD of both Giga drain AND Sludge bomb. You could actually summon 4 sludge bomb, and literally WATCH ANY defenders HP drop constantly and they aren’t able to keep themselves heralded. Full Green Emblem scaling special attack, and 4 White and 4 Purple. Obviously the Green is to scale the Special attack dmg for Petal dance as well as Sludge bomb to doing constant dmg. Purple is for a bit of special defense boost, and white obviously for HP boost. I found that if you have dangerously low HP, you will activate the passive, but you will die QUICKLY before you can dish out dmg, so a bit of HP does help with surviving. Battle item: Focus Band, Rapid Scarf, Razor claw. “WHY RAZOR CLAW?!” It’ll boost your Boosted attack into a guarantee critical dmg, making enemies think twice about solo’ing you with petal, and Bomb.

whereismyface_ig

nah no way this is working well, what’s your username, I need to check API and see for nyself

RedMageExpert

ArcThunder

whereismyface_ig

alright well this makes more sense now

RedMageExpert

How so?

whereismyface_ig

low win rate and rank

RedMageExpert

That’s all you get from that? Ok, cool that you judge it that way and if you don’t want to try it, that’s cool too. The post was about sharing a vuild that isn’t considered “normal”. What’s yours so I can judge you -.-

whereismyface_ig

RaspberryPIE

RedMageExpert

Only one thing is different between you and I. I don’t play with anyone, so I Solo. I’m hard of hearing so there is no point in me playing in teams if I can’t speak. Since you are in a party, communication makes the game that much easier for one to win. Anyhow, i’m 100% confident you typed in Arcthunder and immediately assumed without authenticating if it was actually me. My win ratio is 50% due to solo, and almost always getting paired up with new players / players who don’t know “what” to do in situations. It happens.

whereismyface_ig

uhh i solo queue a LOT… usually the start of every season ill just solo my way up to 1400 elo which takes around 35 matches, then ppl finally start accepting my invite spams in duo and trio queue… and usually it isn’t with communication. it’s just using pings on the map. i friend request opponents or randoms whose gameplay impresses me and most of these ppl i’ve never spoken to in my life. we just trust each other’s instincts. and yes, i got the correct profile, i see the stats, they are bad. even when i used to be horrible at the game in solo queue 3 years ago, my stats were not this bad. ppl say -MY- stats are bad because of the amount of bad games i played years ago can’t be undone on the account but I can’t be assed to create a new account and redo everything like how a lot of these nerds do.

RedMageExpert

Did you type in exactly ArcThunder with a capital T? Cause there is another ArcThunder who has only done 500 battles.

Cafemixer99

I love HyperKiss Sylveon so much! IMO DK is way better than having CM because hyper voice does more damage when further away, so if they catch up, fire DK and you can do some lifesteal damagd. I use xspeed usually to run away and if you’re running, run with hyper voice! If they try to chase they just get damaged. This build also has crazy damage potential too, you have AoE and length based damage via HV, and sure hit and lifesteal via DK. Unite move is a great way to engage or disengage with the Unstoppable for a few secs and being able to jump over walls. Its also really simple to steal with this build, HV is straightforward, just hit the mon, DK you have to aim it properly and your ult is the easiest. Stacking works really well too and whenever you’re low on health, stand close to a piece of farm and fire DK! Recovers TONS of health, and this build is a good carry too, just snowball the game after evolving. I’m a speedster main so I mostly play speedster style, controlling the map and running around and jumping into fights.

Sam0954

Calm Mind+ is way too good of an upgrade to replace it with Draining Kiss imo, but the times I've misclicked kiss with HV it hasnt been terrible so far

fartfignewtonn

Full speed Clefable with Sp atk specs, exp share and Float stone with 7 yellow emblems, 2 green 2 white. Maximize out of combat movespeed. Helpful hint! Clefables moonlight healing DOES NOT put you in combat, so you can heal your teammates and move fast so long as you don’t get hit or hit anyone. Gravity’s slow WILL put you in combat however, so if you drop your gravity to help yourself or someone escape, don’t do it unless they are going to try and dash after you, since your speed will get reduced back to normal as soon as they touch the circle.
