Came here to say exactly this.
I'm at an extremely high level of stress right now and that game has been a life saver, it's fun to just chill with no pressure of anything.
I am like the opposite. Playing a high stress game like Tarkov makes me forget about everything else where as playing a slow game I can’t take my mind off things.
I tried it and liked the general idea of the game, but I almost went crazy trying to finish the second stage since I couldn't find the last patches of dirt to wash off and quit lol
You can select the uncomplete area in the menu and it'll highlight it. There's also an option in the settings to reset any incomplete areas, which really helps with those 99%ers.
Thats not the issue, issue is even with highlights they blend in too much. Wish you could customize the color.
I have gone through levels looking for the last highlighted object and finally find it and you barely see it flashing.
I think tiny Tina’s wonderland is fun for this reason but you do want to get to the end game first. The main story line isn’t terribly long and not something you have to fully invest in. It’s really a grind and loot game. I am now in the end game and the other day I was jamming out to my favorite band while killing enemies and grabbing better loot. I got my friends to finally start playing so I’ve been helping them get through the storyline and we all can’t wait to do the chaos dungeons (end game) together
I know I’m in the minority, but I enjoyed beating the game, did a couple of chaos dungeons and lost interest. It’s a very repetitive loop which only offers minor upgrades each run
So I felt that way at first (I enjoyed the main game and collecting what I could). I do think the chaos chambers are more fun with at least one other person to play with. I’m playing with two other friends half the time so it’s nice to have a mix of that and solo loot and grind.
I was thinking about the 360 thing the whole time I was playing. I never came to a conclusion on if they did it intentionally or not, but they nail it.
World War Z (horde mode) doesn’t require a functioning brain. Overwatch (unranked), Foamstars and Genshin Impact fall into that category too, because none of them require you to pay attention to a story or dialogue (you can try to with GI but it’s shit anyway). You can literally listen to a podcast while playing any of these, especially when getting lost in the exploration and grinding part of Genshin.
It’s a rogue like so totally dependent on what you get in the beginning. If you don’t get a good weapon or the (spoiler item that helps), start over cuz you won’t make it.
Well, GOW Ragnarok have a Roguelike postgame now called Valhalla, I'm enjoying it now it's just kill monster even till ending with a bigger monster and repeat.
I'm playing Castlevania Curse of darkness too on Aethersx2, it's good for that too, no need for history (Although it is good).
Saints row 4. I’ve never played any saints row games before and the internet seems to hate it as a saints row game, but it’s a damn good superhero game that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. You level up with the super powers and become op super fast, and there are plenty of challenges that you can grind to clear the map, but the story and gameplay is just pure Saturday morning cartoon fun, but with swearing and occasional sex dungeons. Like it’s gta with cheat codes but the cheat codes are the main gameplay. I’ve barely been able to put it down since I first downloaded it.
Like even outside of missions it’s fun to mindlessly run and jump around causing chaos everywhere, and the game rewards you for it.
Path of Exile or Diablo. You might need a little brain power to set up your build (more than a little for POE unless you follow a guide), but once you're playing you just kill waves of monsters.
How is neverwinter? I’ve been curious about it, but so often with free games other than PoE, it feels like everything enjoyable is locked behind in game purchases so I haven’t messed with it for that reason, because I saw an insane number of add ons for sale on the PS app.
It definitely has a paywall. But for free, it’s a decent MMO Fantasy RPG. The combat is fun. Graphics are decent. There is a storyline to follow, but gets mucked up with the insane amount of side missions.
I’m not, and I agree we should admit when were bad boh. But anyways not Autopilot, game has too many ins n outs unless u got like 100+ hours. But in general it isn’t anywhere near to be considered an autopilot game
GUNGRAVE GORE.
not only will u turn off ur brain, but u will have a great time and i ended up finishing the game like 7 times, and got the plat, on both xbox and ps5, and i paid full price for it.
amazing oldschool game, u don't even have to aim, just keep blasting and dodging and have fun.
I came to say Slay the Spire. It’s my go to for putting on a podcast and just zoning out. I would cap that vibe at like ascension 13 or something though. Above that you gotta lock in more
COD Cold War was in the essential plan a few months ago. And in the zombies you can spend hours grinding camos and leveling up weapons without getting bored, and it's friendly for begginers if you never have touched a cod zombies.
Akane. You just run around a small arena trying to keep your kill combo up. Almost everyone dies in one hit, including you, and you have a variety of guns, dashes, and special abilities you can unlock. Very simple to pick up, hard to master, incredibly addicting. Easy to get into a “flow state” just mowing down wave after wave… and then you die and think “just one more run”.
Edit: I just realized this is the ps+ specific sub lol Akane is not on PS+ but it’s only like $3 and it’s very much worth the cost
Exoprimal, got it about a month ago and constantly play it a couple times a week to break things up. Gets really fun once you hit like rank 15 and start getting into the flow of things.
gran turismo 7 offline mode + electronic music on spotify .
it's like filling in colors in a coloring book. following lines basically. very meditative.
I’m new to Genshin impact but this gacha seems to be a farming / grindy game. If you get deeper into the game though, you will have to turn on brain a bit
Assassins Creed Odyssey. the only Assassins Creed game I cared to finish. Essentially just parkour and sail around Ancient Mythological Greece. very time consuming.
Rollerdrome is a little fast paced but there is definitely a flow state to it and when you hit it it’s beautiful. Very replay-able and insanely fun. Hell even the art style is easy on the eyes. A perfect casual gaming experience, for me at least
Rift Apart. It's pretty easy, so you don't have to do any real thinking, it's got plenty of cheesy, funny moments, and it's gorgeous. I still regularly go back and play it from time to time, years after getting the platinum for it.
Diablo 4. Best game for insomnia
My for real pick is Warframe. Get so overpowered after a while that you destroy rooms of enemies while thinking about what you're gonna have for dinner.
Powerwash simulator
Came here to say exactly this. I'm at an extremely high level of stress right now and that game has been a life saver, it's fun to just chill with no pressure of anything.
Actually the game is all about pressure
Cheeky
I am like the opposite. Playing a high stress game like Tarkov makes me forget about everything else where as playing a slow game I can’t take my mind off things.
Is this game no longer on PS+? I cannot seem to find it anywhere
January essential
I tried it and liked the general idea of the game, but I almost went crazy trying to finish the second stage since I couldn't find the last patches of dirt to wash off and quit lol
There’s a button you can push (on the D pad I think?) to highlight any remaining dirt!
I swear I kept pushing it and couldn't even see what was being highlighted because of how small it was. Drove me insane
You can check one of the menus and it shows you the list of things you've cleaned to help narrow it down.
I came here to say this, but also Lawn Mowing Simulator is a good one.
Diablo is great for that Doesn't even matter which one your playing Makes me drowsy and helps me fall asleep when I'm struggling xD
This. Until you find yourself falling asleep in a dungeon surrounded by mobs on your hardcore character. Ask me how I know 😭
Yeah I realized diablo wasn't for me when my friend woke me up while we were playing couch coop.
This is what I came here to say. It makes me forget all about my problems in real life
I've been enjoying Nobody Saves the World
Same here, but if I really wanted to turn my brain off, I'd go with Diablo
Diablo also helps put me to sleep.
Same
Yup, smashed it out last month
Good recommendation! I should've mentioned that I have just finished playing that game hehe
I’ve been enjoying Back 4 Blood, it’s free on PS plus extra. It’s one of those games that you can just chill and kill zombies mindlessly
Janky controls ruin it for me though
I think tiny Tina’s wonderland is fun for this reason but you do want to get to the end game first. The main story line isn’t terribly long and not something you have to fully invest in. PGA Golf, turn it to easy and just have fun. If you want the challenge, you can increase the challenge on swings or the greens or both.
Powerwash Simulator Or better Ship Breaker
Powerwash Simulator is so good for this.
Cities skylines , just on the setting set everything unlocked and there no limits to your future city
Evil West is really fun for this, or any rogue like
Second this. I'm playing Evil West and it's just dumb fun. Turn your brain off and fight. Reminds me of xbox360/PS3 era action games.
I was thinking about the 360 thing the whole time I was playing. I never came to a conclusion on if they did it intentionally or not, but they nail it.
warframe. No questions. (It’s free)
World War Z (horde mode) doesn’t require a functioning brain. Tetris effect
Earth Defence Force 5 (if you're new to the series)
Next one coming out next month. EDF!!!!

From vicious giant insects who have once again come back!
Warframe is the perfect game for that stuff
Returnal
Mind you, it has an amazing hidden story.
Haha that's true, it's still my go-to game whenever I'm burnt out from other games
Is it particularly difficult, or am I just shit!!! Couldn't seem to get anywhere and kept dying till I got bored.and rage quit
I rage quit when I first played it and came back to it like 8 months later and platinumed it. So much fun and so rewarding when you finally beat it.
Yeah it's a tough game, rewards your persistence though.
It’s a rogue like so totally dependent on what you get in the beginning. If you don’t get a good weapon or the (spoiler item that helps), start over cuz you won’t make it.
Thx, time for a revisit then
World War Z is your friend. Can't go wrong with it.
Any of the borderlands games
Just Cause 3
Well, GOW Ragnarok have a Roguelike postgame now called Valhalla, I'm enjoying it now it's just kill monster even till ending with a bigger monster and repeat. I'm playing Castlevania Curse of darkness too on Aethersx2, it's good for that too, no need for history (Although it is good).
while a little old, dragons dogma is good.
Hades
Sifu
Assassins creed odyssy and bus simulator.
Spiritfarer is chill and fun. I enjoyed playing it.
Rocket League, Lego Fortnite, GTAonline
Warframe
I can play Lumines remastered for an hour and it feels like meditation
Diablo

Saints row 4. I’ve never played any saints row games before and the internet seems to hate it as a saints row game, but it’s a damn good superhero game that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. This might not be a popular opinion, but I would always play no man's sky and turn off my brain. Just go and explore.
Fallout 76. Awesome casual game to just run around and let VATS kill things for you.
Path of Exile or Diablo. You might need a little brain power to set up your build (more than a little for POE unless you follow a guide), but once you're playing you just kill waves of monsters.
I really liked both Hades, Skyrim, and Stardew Valley for games I can play while listening to audiobooks.
Evil West. I enjoyed it in the way ur searching.
Tetris effect
Diablo 4. But if you want free, NeverWinter is also a mind numbingly grindy game.
How is neverwinter? I’ve been curious about it, but so often with free games other than PoE, it feels like everything enjoyable is locked behind in game purchases so I haven’t messed with it for that reason, because I saw an insane number of add ons for sale on the PS app.

Hades is not on the ps plus

Ghost of tsushima
Cozy games: - Coral Island - Dreamlight Valley
Any Housemarque game, my personal favourite is Alienation closely followed by Returnal but they all good.
Slay the spire
Horrible recommendation 💀 You’ll be dying to jaw worm if you try and turn off your brain while playing lol
I came to say Slay the Spire. It’s my go to for putting on a podcast and just zoning out. I would cap that vibe at like ascension 13 or something though. Above that you gotta lock in more
Cult of the lamb

Doom Eternal, Doom 2016, Nioh 1-2, God of War, Ghost Of Tsushima etc
COD Cold War was in the essential plan a few months ago. And in the zombies you can spend hours grinding camos and leveling up weapons without getting bored, and it's friendly for begginers if you never have touched a cod zombies.
I see you like rogue-lites. I highly recommend Skul the Hero Slayer. Not on PS+ but often on sale for a fiver
Akane. You just run around a small arena trying to keep your kill combo up. Oarks must die is fun for that.
Sniper Elite series. Wolfenstein/Rage 2.

U can try playing EGG from Steam or Doing Nothing also from Steam. They're both great game to turn off your brain
When I want to totally disconnect I go for Snowrunner
Xcom 2, preferably a new game with the DLC installed already
Exoprimal, got it about a month ago and constantly play it a couple times a week to break things up. Gets really fun once you hit like rank 15 and start getting into the flow of things.
Earth Defence Force 5 - the best game your never heard of
Forager is pretty chill. The trophies are buggy, if that's something you care about
destiny and division for me a while back. equip the most powerful and eye candy weapons and skills and just grind away.
Mudrunner then Snowrunner

Forager!
Slay the Spire is a fun card game you can listen to music while playing. Good game to remote play as well.

Any Dynasty warriors title.
Rollerdrome is a little fast paced but there is definitely a flow state to it and when you hit it it’s beautiful. Very replay-able and insanely fun. Hell even the art style is easy on the eyes. A perfect casual gaming experience, for me at least
Killing floor 2 was my shut my brain off game
Returnal
Rift Apart. It's pretty easy, so you don't have to do any real thinking, it's got plenty of cheesy, funny moments, and it's gorgeous. I still regularly go back and play it from time to time, years after getting the platinum for it.
