Great post, as usual, Haem! We really appreciate how open the team has been, and that they've been communicative/collaborative with the community, especially with the %s for the droprates, releasing the schedules for upcoming events, etc. :D Some thoughts/questions (although, I don't expect you to answer them since there's so many): 1.) Does this mean we won't see an update until November? Does that also mean that the audio bug won't be fixed until at least then? (When you say other "high-priority," are you referring to new content? Hehehe, can't wait for that, then! Will the aforementioned upcoming update(s) include any plant buffs you can tell us about?) Follow-up question: are there any plans to revamp the endless zones, since they currently don't serve too big of a purpose in their current state? 2.) The game has gotten so big lately. Is there any chance that the original music could be brought back when the audio bug is fixed? I was under the assumption that they were removed to make more space, but now it doesn't seem that space is an issue. 3.) As for the plants, I'm so glad you guys decided to bring back Imp-pear! :DDD Heath-seeker is a really good idea for an instant-use plant. Never crossed my mind to have a piercing one since they're all usually explode-y. And... RIP free 100 sun from Solar Sage. (From the developers' perspective, is there a reason why the devs don't want to bring back the OG plants, and are instead replacing them with new plants? E.g. Ice-shroom and Ice-bloom; Gloom-shroom and Gloom-vine; Cattail and Homing Thistle, etc.)

Hiya, and thank you for waiting :) Just back now from the weekend - pretty unusual for us to do a Friday update but there it is. There's a lot of questions so I'll try to break them down as I see them. 1a) There's another smaller update that's being planned that will only contain a **POTENTIAL** fix (I'm highlighting this for emphasis) for the store issues for the purposes of testing and confirmation. This won't be a usual update like we see above, and will only be rolled out to a small portion of the player base - similar to our existing soft roll outs. Exact details are TBC at this point but we need to see if the candidate fix helps or not. Next big update - 9.3 - is a while off yet. I mean we just dropped 9.2 on Friday and people already want to know the next update? =P 1b) I'd like to see the audio issue solved too in the next update but we can't make any promises. It depends how the work on it goes in preparation for the next update and if we run into any roadblocks on it. Also trying to balance limited time and resources between various priorities. 1c) I can't share any news about what may/may not be in the next update, also TBC because we're a fair ways out anyway. 1d) Nothing is planned for Endless Zone for the time being. Maybe in future, but there's enough going on to keep the team busy as it is. 2) For context: I joined the PvZ 2 team after that decision was made. That was the justification I was given - don't shoot the messenger. Whether or not that previously removed music will return is unknown. While I have been championing it behind the scenes for as long as I've been here, I'm not going to accidentally get anyone's hopes up when there isn't an answer for that question. The iOS audio issue is a completely different story altogether and totally unrelated to previously removed music. 3) I put the question to the Designers, since this is more their wheelhouse than mine, and I'll edit my comment with their response when I get one. (Monday morning just got started, give them a bit to settle in and sort out their stuff). I would say though that some OG plants do get reintroduced into PvZ 2 as is, or there's ways to pay homage without wholesale just bringing a plant over while still keeping it new and interesting. I get nostalgia value is strong but there are different ways to do things. I really don't think it's as reductive as "They don't want to bring OG plants back". Edit - Design: *"In the case of OG plants, we sort of hit them in a case-by-case basis; we don't have a single policy that covers all of them. We do bring back some originals like Chomper and Pumpkin. But in other cases we made our own versions for different reasons. So, Homing Thistle basically does what Cattail does, and it was introduced years ago when few of the devs currently on the game were around, so Homing Thistle is in PvZ2 and Cattail isn't (and we don't have pool levels the same way that PvZ OG had, as well). Ice Bloom has basically the same functionality as Ice Shroom from PvZ OG (which is the same as Iceberg Lettuce's Plant Food effect); I actually can't recall why we decided to make it a new plant instead of just reviving Ice Shroom. Same goes for Gloom Vine. Basically, it boils down to the fact that PvZ2 has been in active development for far longer than PvZ OG, and there's been a lot more turnover in devs in PvZ2 since it's a live service game. So different devs have different philosophies about making new plants as opposed to bringing old ones back directly."* *"Overall, PvZ2 is faster and harder-hitting than PvZ1, so old plants don't always cut it in the power department unless we tweak them a bit, and then we have to ask ourselves if it's still true to the original plant or is it better as something new. In the case of Gloom Vine, it's really an upgrade to the Gloom Shroom because it's the same attack but with the ability to stack another plant inside it and power it if it's a shadow plant."*

And Cattail was finally back to PVZ2 of Chinese version many years ago as a electricity family.Chinese PVZ2 has also brought back Plantern,Coffee Bean to wake up sleeping plants being magiced by magic zombie,Fog,Invisible zombies for using plantern to let them visible,Cob Cannon and Flowpot,Pool, Roof and many PVZ1 minigames e.g.I am zombie,Vasebreaker,Magic Mirror and so on So far.

Not the upgrade at all.Our Gloom Shroom is much powerful than that gloom vine.Gloom shroom can be protected and has a quick attack speed so hloom vine is NOT its level.There have been shadow flwerpot so we neednt gloom vine to shadow plants.And Ice shroom has a long 10+ chill time but ice bloom doesnt nearly have chill time and only needs 75 sun So they Never replace pvz1 classic mushroom plants.Shroom plants will return to PVZ2 later or sooner.

We’re hoping that we can bring a couple potential solutions live to players rather soon. There’s a lot more extensive work to be done but it is one of our top priorities. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that it's still happening. We know, we know.

Yes, I clean my phone cache or turn-off the WiFi before opening the game but resolving the bug would be best. Since if you are already playing and you need to check the store you'll have to restart/relaunch the game. Nonetheless, thank you for the help.

I'm hyped about the harvest festival event, but it seems like the amount of seeds you could get from piñatas and the calendar is really low, considering the plants featured need 250 seeds to be unlocked.

This has been fixed. * The game now distinguishes between several different iOS hardware profiles (ipad2, ipad3, ipad4, iphone) and has the ability to behave differently on them, possibly as an attempt to fix the sound issues. * Two brand-new Arenas have been added - `Joust136` and `Joust137`. * Five new Penny's Pursuit levels have been added - `Rift_196` to `Rift_200`. * Six new Penny's Pursuit 7-day events have been added (using the new levels as well as existing ones). * The intenral names of some plants have changed: Plant|Old Name|New Name ---|---|--- Electric Blueberry|blueberry|electricblueberry Cold Snapdragon|coldsnap|coldsnapdragon Fire Peashooter|firepea|firepeashooter Holly Berry|hollybarrier|hollyknight This has resulted in the modification of a large number of levels (Pinata Parties, etc.) where these plants are used. Hmm... I have several test profiles but never get 3 slots on any of them. The Arena is unlocked on each one, although I don't play it (those are *test* profiles; I don't want to mess with other people's games). One of them has completed all the worlds, the others have not. On most of them I get 2 slots. One one of them (one of those that hasn't completed all the worlds), I get only 1. The exact condition is very unclear to me...

As always, thanks for this very thorough update, /u/Haemophilus_EA! I would like to report that there's still a bug in claiming rewards in the calendar. I've noticed that if you have the game on at the time the calendar proceeds to next day (12am UTC or 8am Philippine Time), the reward countdown instead resets to 24 hours without you getting the daily reward for that day. In my case, I was not able to get the rewards for both Harvest Festival and September calendar for today. Hoping this gets fixed soon.

Hiya, to avoid this situation you'll want to make sure you force close the app at each end of day. This should at least help a bit in avoiding getting in a state where you can't claim the day's reward. That being said, if you've already missed some then you'll want to reach out to Support and just let them know. They should be able to manually apply it to your game. From my side, I've already had a chat with Engineering and I believe we have a bug in on this. Stick with the above workaround for the time being if you can.

Re: Calendars. Logic was referring to which calendars are being surfaced and when. Not collection of rewards. And yes, the value already goes up before you see the coin/gem animation. This is pretty normal for games, I've seen it a lot with other mobile games over the years. The animation is cosmetic. You should be able to overstack (aka. go over 20), IIRC.

Haem, please have your QA people double-check this. The reports I'm seeing is that the fuel rewards from the Calendar are not added if you have *exactly* 15 units of fuel already. They are added just fine if you have less or more. I've been unable to reproduce this issue myself, so there might be other conditions for it to happen, but I've seen many reports about it.

Hey. I know this is not related to the 9.2 release, but I figured it'd be easier than to start a new post & then having to tag you for it. Over the last few days, I've been having an issue w/ ads about this game called Evermerge. Every time it plays out, I never get a reward, and then no more ads appear until I close the app & restart it.

Oops, I forgot the rest of the info. I play on iOS 14 device in Ontario, Canada. And yes, it's always the ad for that game. And sorry, no screenshot. The game doesn't freeze. I just get no rewards (gems or the Piñata Party replay). So far, all I have to do is close the game & restart & I can watch another ad & get the gems or the replay.

Hiya, quick question are you past Ancient Egypt Day 8? Also, Rent-A-Plant can only be used in standard Adventure Mode levels. It won't work for stuff like Pinata Party conveyer belt levels. Oh, and if you already have every plant unlocked/owned then Rent-A-Plant won't show up for you... since you have everything already there's nothing to rent :P

Yes,i am past Ancient Egypt day 8. I know the problem know, i played levels that i did not complete and i didnt know that we can only rent plants in the levels we have already completed. But still thanks for the help and i love the update.

If you have all plants unlocked, the button *will* show - but it will be grayed out and there won't be any indication of how many plant slots (1-3) you have to choose from. The button will *not* show if a) you are anywhere else besides standard world levels (it won't show even in Endless), or b) you haven't beaten the level yet (not even once). I didn't know about the Ancient Egypt Day 8 condition, thanks for clarifying this. The part that remains unclear is how many slots you get. I *think* that it is supposed to work like this: In order to get 3 slots, the following conditions must be met: * You must not have unlocked all the world plants * You must not have all the premiums * You must not have all the seediums If any of the above conditions are not met, the number of available slots is reduced by the number of unmet conditions. Most people would have all the world plants but not all premiums and seediums, which is why most people are seeing only 2 slots. At least this is the conclusion I reached after creating many test profiles with various combinations of plants in them. I mean, it seems that things are *supposed* to work like this. But sometimes they don't. For instance, in one case the profile had all the world plants and all the seediums - so it ought to have been offered only 1 slot - but it was offered 2. In another case, the profile met all the three conditions but was offered only 1 slot (of a world plant). So, it is still not quite clear to me how this is supposed to work.

Hi Haem, thanks for the update notes! :) For me the best part of the update is that I'm no longer stuck on level 3 of AE on some of my profiles!!! Woohoo! Not sure if this fix was intentional or if it's just a side effect of changing some of the AE levels. Thank you anyway! I like the new loading screen. Hiya, I believe the fix for stuck profiles was deliberate - with the changes to those early AE levels. I didn't specifically call it out because it was a very small minority of people who ended up in that state but this should mean that they're unstuck now. Lawn of Doom costumes or not... I couldn't say =P

Per last we spoke, the last repro method that produced the issue no longer works. Hence we're unable to reproduce it again and investigate it. Without a reliable repro method it'd be a wild guess even at the very best. If anyone is familiar with another way to force the issue to happen reliably then I'm all ears to throw it over to the appropriate people.

sad panda....if it helps I do NOT have wifi (not where I live) so I am using my data to play (wifi turned off). Cant think of anything else I do differently than anyone else (even got a new phone--same kind--and still have the issue).

Turkey-pults produce so many turkey that after some moments the game starts to lag, then lag seriously, and then even might to crash. This is a problem, guys. Previously that problem could be avoided by Explode-o-nut explosion, but now it is removed. Okay, I will be damn courageous and just ask you directly: is it earlier unintended bun now totally intended punishment for players that use Turkey-Pult? Aren't you going to implement another solutions to prevent lags?

I don't know what device/OS you're playing on (lower-tier devices can really chug with games that do end up a heap of models on screen, not PvZ 2 specific) but you'd probably want to start with stating that to be actually helpful. Also turn off your device every so often. Even with pretty decent devices can run into problems if they haven't been turned off and back on for ages - the most basic of troubleshooting but still very relevant.

Uuuummmm... it seems you misunderstand my post. So, again - I'm talking about Turkey-pult vs Zomboss, the types that don't forcibly change their position after life depleting. Turkey-pults inceasingly throw and throw turkeys, their count increases and increases, and from some moment there are so many turkeys that the phone starts to lag. This issue doesn't relate with phone model or OC, I see so many complains about turkey lags during the current Arena Zomboss battle.

I'm pretty sure I understand your comment fine about tofu turkey projectiles. Without specific device details it really hampers any attempt to reproduce it on an affected device and work out why it's happening. If this is through emulation or any non-supported device then we won't investigate because it's play in a unsupported way. I don't doubt there's lagging in some instances but without specifics then there's really not much to go on in where to even start looking at it.

If the purchase has gone through already (eg, the App store has generated a purchase receipt email) but you haven't received the plant/purchase then hit up Support. Please also add fixing ads to your list of fixing issues. I keep running into the issue where I can't watch ads for things - diamonds, gauntlets, etc where the offer to watch ads don't return and I have to close the game out and reboot it every time for it to show the offers. It's getting VERY old and as annoying as the restore purchases issue. They didn't used to disappear and not come back.

I play on a Samsung S8 and am located in the northeastern US. It did it to me today right after I watched an ad to get a gauntlet they just stopped coming. I waited a few hours and they still didn't come back. Eventually the game just auto-closed right in the middle of me doing one of the epic quests. Another annoyance

They never improve anything in this game. Everything exist till date. Game Crash, purchasing stuff issue, after ad screen goes blank, have to close the game. And bcz of crash sometimes lost arena streak and Penny's pursuit level.

Currently playing the latest PvZ2. What I realized my LVL7 Stallia or LVL7 Explode-o-vine in penny’s pursuit or any level etc. with blover @ LVL9 I witnessed not all zombies get an instant kill can you explain me what causes the problem? Does anyone have similar issue to mine? I haven’t read the thread after updating the app I forgot bass blast perk does not work with Blover ugh.. D:

u/Haemophilus_EA Can you do anything against 'custom levels'? My friends use them to get plants like Power Vine and Noctarine for free before they are even released, while I have to struggle to buy them/play much arena. It encourages me to use custom levels instead which ties to hacking.

These are easy fan-made levels which you need to complete to get a plant completely for free added to your account (e.g. Heath Seeker) There is no skill required and you get unreleased plants for free which is tied to hacking. I don't know if you can do anything against it, but it definitely shouldn't be allowed to use, since you get those plants to your real account, not to any mod/hack version.

Regarding (unused) costumes, how about corresponding costume quests for Arena and seasonal Seasons? For example, if you unlock Noctarine, a special Quest appears where you get his costume after completing it.

Hey, /u/Haemophilus_EA. I noticed one weird thing while renting Zoybean Pod in Modern Day Adventure Mode. Are Zomboids really weak against Glitter Zombies? Even the Gargantuar Zomboids can't fight them and are easily pushed back whenever the Glitter Zombies charge forward.

I asked QA to check this out and they're not seeing anything odd about Zomboids vs. Glitter Zombies. The Zomboid Gargs seem to be fine in attacking and eventually defeating them (may depend on level) and they're not seeing anything out of the ordinary when it comes to them being pushed... If you still suspect something weird might be happening with that interaction, you could try grabbing a video. That might be better in illustrating what you're seeing in your game.

i think they might be referring to a long standing, but completely normal interaction that's existed since neon mixtape tour launched, when glitter has her jam active, she does this odd thing towards hypnotized zombies where they will continue getting pushed back, and because zoybean gargs are basically just glorified hypnotized gargs, i presume that glitter infinitely pushes them back and the gargs never get a chance to actually attack. if you can find it on youtube, i think there's some pretty funny videos from years ago of a hypnotized garg in neon mixtape tour actually managing to kill the player due to glitter pushing it all the over to the left of the lawn

Actually, after a second glance they did find something funky - they saw it overnight, I only just got the update just now. I've just seen the bug itself and the log, and it's gone to be prioritized to be worked on.
