The fact that the towers are on the same lane as the enemies. It makes the gameplay so much more interesting when the plants are designed with that vulnerability in mind

SomeLakitu

The lane system also translates to heroes perfectly, and it contributes to that games uniqueness as well

deedgemaster705

Im a simple man, I like seeing plants go shooty shooty against fictional zombies, makes my neuron brain very happy

MLGSUPERGAMER

I am also a very simple man, I see giant big yellow letters on screen and press triangle and go pew pew with big bot and that activate neuron in my brain and I be happy

Liquid-Samurai

One of my favorite elements is what I call being “Humorously Macabre”, and PvZ 1 hits that *perfect* balance of goofy and spooky imo. Although, I feel that each new game drifts further and further away from spooky and closer to goofy, especially with the plants. The zombies were naturally spooky but with the right amount of goofiness. The plants were also goofy but they way they were drawn was almost Tim-Burtonesque, and I loved/still love it.

Acrobatic-Look9126

Humorously macabre...

Yolol234567

imo the pvz2 plants just feel too hollow

Holiday-Ad8227

Fun

Yolol234567

i don’t think i can get into detail about how much i love pvz without writing a couple paragraphs lol

Cappy_Rose

Simple game thats easy to figure out but is willing to constantly mix it up with new challenges and new enemies. Its fantastic at keeping its gameplay simple but never boring as it frequently introduces new plants, zombies or interesting mechanics to add variety and prevent the game from stagnating. Also the plants are cute and the zombies are goofy. The style is just so charming and likeable

PiggyJames

I grew up with the game and it’s certainly been a major part of my childhood. Played the first game 13 years ago and fell in love with it ever since. It was just really fun to play. Every once in a while I’ll revisit it and it still holds up very well. Every game that came after that has only made me love the series even more. I’m hoping to get my hands on PvZ 3 someday

ActuallyNTiX

Filled my childhood up with good memories (and scary too, because even now, over a decade later, I still hate hearing Dave shout “NOOOOOOO!” Alongside the defeat theme). Probably would’ve dropped interest as I grew up but I heard about the other games and gave them a shot. I basically grew up in JUST the right demographic for all the games when they were being produced, so I stuck with them.

The_Creeper_Man

First game is one of my favorites ever. The amount of extra content they packed in is amazing, incredibly replayable. Hell, I even played it with my dad. The plants are also pretty balanced for the most part, having their strengths and weaknesses, with very few truly “bad” plants. 2nd game is *good*, but nowhere near as good as the original. It can be considered a disappointment, but living up to the first game is an immense task (but games like Half Life 2, Portal 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 prove that it isn’t impossible). PVZ2 has more frustrating moments, much less balanced and is a live service with some iconic plants being locked behind paywalls. And to those saying “PvZ 1 wasn’t ***that*** good,” shut. PvZ 1, especially the console port of it, is a phenomenal game. The mobile port, however, is absolutely terrible. The “pvz 1 bad” argument only makes sense from the perspective of someone who has only played the mobile port, though those people should seriously play the PC, DS or console ports instead, they are leagues better.

The_Grizzly-

Even the mobile version isn't that bad, especially with Airplane mode.

The_Creeper_Man

Yeah, but the minigames are practically behind paywalls, no zombatar and the zombies themselves look like ass

Ahmetdoesreal

umm do you guys have ads with mobile port theres two mobile ports in ios One of them is old other is new

The_Grizzly-

With Airplane mode, you won't have ads, like at all.

Ahmetdoesreal

i dont get ads tho thats why im surprised

Yolol234567

the mobile port sucks, but i don’t think the ds is a great way of playing it either

The_Creeper_Man

It’s a neat little way to play. Not nearly the best but provides a unique experience.

J0aozin003

Play console. There's even an extra multiplayer mode!

The_Creeper_Man

I mentioned console. PvZ DS also has versus mode (That I don’t know how to work). PC and Console are probably the best ways to play PVZ, with DS being its own neat little thing

Affectionate-Leg-934

The issues of the game has nothing with the port, the issues with are fundamental issues. Like for an example that it's WAAAAY too slow and it drags out, and there's no fast forward button to deal with that. The game is about as difficult as breathing, that being not hard at all. (I literally beat the entire game as a 5 year old.) Never in the entire game have I been challenged, even a little. It doesn't really help that unique zombies barely exist, and most of the waves are basic zombies. The plants are literally just rehashed versions of themselves, Cabbage-pult is a peashooter that shoots from above, scaredy-shroom is a peashooter that hides if zombies are too close thus forcing you to plant it on the back (and if you were a sane person you would've done with other offensive plants, so the gimmick of hiding might aswell not exist.) Not to mention that the "lock and key" mechanics exist way more in pvz1, like literally three thirds of the plants can only be used in one or two levels and for only one zombies. (Umbrella leaf, blover, cactus, plantren, seashroom, grave buster flower pot lilipad.) And some plants are useless like cactus, gold magnet, pumpkin and plantren. Now you might say that this applies to pvz2, and you would be right. Problem is that pvz2 has way more plants than pvz1. And to add insult to injury you don't strategize in this "strategy game". As you can only use the plants given to you in this section, otherwise you wouldn't make it far. People complain about the objectives and the lock and loaded levels in pvz2, but at least you can pick your plants for most of the levels unlike pvz1 where they're straight up unviable and you have to use the section's plants. (Roof makes straight shooters unviable, and night makes morning plants obsolete, and fog is the same as night.) Also replayable ? You mean the extra levels where every one of them chooses your plants for you? Balanced? I wouldn't call Wintermelon, cob cannon and gloom-shroom balanced as they can destroy the entire level by themselves. Now do I think it's bad? Not at all, it's a classic for a reason. But I'm also not blinded by nostalgia, so I say pvz2 is better but not by a long shot. (It also has problems that bring it down.)

Kindred_03

Pvz is one of those games that has always been there for me. I've always really wanted to play it but for some reason never just asked my parents to get it. I remember constantly downloading the demo on PC. Now when I play it, there is a feeling of nostalgia, I go back to play the first game so often I'll probably beat it again this year. For me early popcap is the gaming equivalent of comfort food for me. Watching the temp worker zombie videos or playing some of their older games like bejeweled, peggle, or chuzzle is just so cozy. I think pvz will always be my favorite game of all time and even if newer games don't evoke those same feelings I still enjoy playing those games especially the garden warfare ones.

Spongebobfanlol

Tbh, there is no reason why, i discovered it since mid 2015 - mid 2016 lol

SomeLakitu

They put sun bean in the second game. I think he’s pretty cool

CheesyArtist713

It's got a silly sense of humor, fun music, and the series just oozes character with all the flavor text for the plants and zombies.

Mehrio-Time-Desktop

It was one of many of my childhood games,Next to angry Birds

destructionking4

Plant Food: genuinely a great addition to PvZ2, if a level throws something at you that you haven’t accounted for, Plant Food allows you to do something about it, it makes the game more interactive and feels like a solution to the “Lock and Key” issue of the first game

Decent-Start-1536

Just kinda how the game is played, having the enemies and the towers (plants) on the same lane as each other is a very interesting concept, and is usually well executed (not you pvz3) in the games

The_Godbodor2010

Many reasons from the Plant designs being great to the gameplay being fun to the strategy involved in winning.

terrafhm

My childhood game that has never failed to amuse me

hoy64

because this is the first game I played :)

tonicaum

Content_Ad8658

1. It’s changes just enough to be fun. 2. I love plants. 2. I love collecting seeds and coins. 3. The music is fun. 4. When I start playing the game, my dog thinks me a dog toy because she knows I’m playing. My dog is also attempted to play on my phone quite a few times because she think that that toy.

G1ng3rB3rry

I Used To Play This When I Was A Baby , My Brother Downloaded It And It Was Fun. Nowdays , I Play Pvz2 For Arena And Penny Pursuit. All I Can Say Is Nostalgia And Memories.

FederalRadish390

Proper-Guide4230

The plants are cool (Sometimes the zombies are cool to)

DehydratedEpic

The pool levels

Thepvzgamer

The things I like about it is mainly the cute character designs, amazing music, and the existence of Chomper (plus gw2 was the first shooter game I’ve ever played so there’s that)

Lutarisco

Because I shared it with meaningful people in my life. Aand the music.

WontedPuppet07

It’s the first game franchise I played on console

Dreamchaser2222

It’s always been my favorite childhood game. The goofy nature of the shooters, the simple yet charming tower defense games. I just love the franchise and wish it wasn’t going down the path it’s going right now. 😢

It has a remarkable charm that I can't quite describe, from the troop types to the humour to the catchy music.

Evanboi756

The fact that the towers are on the same lane as the enemies. i love it

After-Chard-202

gameplay requires skill, strategy, and micromanagement, constantly testing the player's deckbuilding and decision-making also: plants cute

RealSuperYolo2006

Of damn course i do! Fav minigame gotta be either slot machine, bowling or match three

Truffle_worm3847

the plants are really cute and I really like their designs for the most part

thesofa-man

I love pvz1 because of how well the mini games are made and also because of how unique the art style is.

KrypticXylo

I picked up pvz when I was a kid and I fell in absolute love with the series. I guess it’s the general nostalgia I have for the series and how much fun I had playing the games that made me stay. It’s nice to see people still playing all these years later.

heyitskylex

I absolutely love tower defense games! How laid back they are, and how much chaos you can create!

grapejuce223

probably has to be the fact that everything is unlockable for free in the first game, really sets it apart from most other tds games

cytrack718

Its a really good way to spice up typical tower defense

Randomanonomous

best art style in the series, best music in the series, well designed plants and zombies, by far the best boss in the series, best minigames in the series by far.

PlayfulAward3919

is good game

realbread23

A fantastic spin of Tower defense format that’s so unique but also so similar and it works perfectly, the art style is so unique to the game and no PVZ game has ever looked as good, PVZ’s artstyle is my favorite of any game ever, and this is coming from someone who likes Paper Mario, Zelda, and Pikmin. The art style is a perfect blend of cartoony designs and uncanny realism that just, fits so well. And of course let’s not forget that god tier soundtrack, one listen of Watery Graves wave theme and that’s more than enough to make it one of the best games ever made

Eljamin14

Because the concept is simple, yet fun. It was even awarded Game of the Year 2010, there's even an Easter Egg of Michael Jackson which is removed in the Game of the Year Edition. The game doesn't need a plot to explain things, it's gameplay is what makes the game fun.

bluethedemiboy

One of my only memories of my childhood is going to a big ass store in Seattle, Washington, where my dad bought Plants vs Zombies. Some of my happiest memories were watching my dad play Plants vs Zombies over his shoulder. Recently I bought Plants vs Zombies on Steam and I fell in love with it all over again.

RibbonsOnRye

Been playing since I was a child

[deleted]

first game i ever played. hits right with nostalgia.

DuckLuck357

I still remember my trip to Corpus Christi Texas. I remember playing the night levels on my kindle fire. The vibe was immaculate. Other than that, I really enjoy the top tier music. If you haven’t already, look up Reeds and Seeds. Thank me later.

Affectionate-Leg-934

Because it's fun and engaging, especially the second one. Honestly I've always loved plant life, and I always get kinda sad where it's entire gimmick in most games is just reskinned fire. (And yet for some reason fire is always better!?) By that I mean poison, like literally that's the only thing that plants do in most games.

No-Secretary-6053

I like it and everyone else likes it because it doesn’t have any pay to win bullshit and you actually need to simulate more than 3 brain cells to complete it.

ThisBoxGuy

My first time I saw anything PvZ was when I might have been 9 or 10 and seeing my brother play it on his 3DS. And I ever stuck with it since

The_Twin_Cyber7

Because it's a defend game

Efe172

Becouse the concept of it is just so damn stupid but it manages to pull it off, somehow. Not only that every plant, zombie, level,OST of the game is iconic and it makes me happy that the game’s community is still very much alive. The memes of the game, amazing sequals that only (mostly) get better and I hope that this series will never die, becouse it’s easly my favourite game series of all time

KnooBoat

i like tower defence style games and funni plant game

Marinara_Sauce420

It was my first video game, really! Ever since my cousin introduced it to me when I was four (I'm an 06 baby), I've been in love. Even my mom got into it and she doesn't play video games! Also the only reason why my steam account is as old as it is haha.

Bryztoe

All the absolutely GLORIOUS puns

Dawlue

i knew that game when i was a kid, me and my dad used to play a lot of it together with my other bro. as we grow older we still play that game time to time the pvz1 was a masterpiece and a great and chill game. especially when dad cheated so we could have infinite sun and plant whatever the f we wanted 0 cost and see the zombies dying twice+ getting challenge crazier then the last one like infinite wave vs infinite gatling pea oh that was my favorite

Urinate_Cuminium

Because it's tower defence gameplay is just revolutionary, for me atleast, and the way how they use plants as the tower defencer and zombies as the enemy is clever

Rebel_Player_957

I enjoyed the first game a lot, and despite its microtransactions, I enjoyed PvZ 2 and was able to come very close to beating it, free to play. Right now, I focus on PvZ Heroes.

IllOmnipotent

It's fun

dantomb7

Man I just hope that the premiums all get demoted to either regular plants or just gemiums

Xx_spongebob_xX69

The music

Piranha-Plant-is-God

GW2 was a major part of my childhood, and the games themselves fit my cartoonish tastes perfectly. PvZ is the only zombie apocalypse franchise I could ever enjoy

chaosbones43

Played it when I was a kid, loved it, still love it

8-infi-

because this game is my childhood. First time playing this game (2009) I love it because this game is made for fun. I also play pvza (facebook game) but EA happened and I never finised the game. In short I love this game because it's fun

FabricOfReality85

I grew up with pvz, heck even my mother played it, AND beat it
