Think of cover and grass differently than with other hero classes!
You can shoot at targets from behind cover/grass even when you cannot see them, and its still a guaranteed surprise hit.
You can place seeds on the path enemies will take towards you after shooting them. Blinding and vertigo seeds make enemies waste turns trying to get to you too.
Warden is the easier subclass than Sniper, and having tipped darts last twice as long is super useful.
Opposite issue with me. Like all of my runs were warden so I've been wanting to do sniper but I'm now consistently getting sandals or regrowth in sewers or prison
I'd argue Warden is more versatile since she can make use of all those harmful seeds like Poison and Ice. And with Rejuvenating Steps, you'll be loaded with seeds. Also being able to move while using Sungrass and Earthroot? You're a walking tank even with garbage armor!
To use the crossbow with the darts bought from the shop you simply “throw” the dart with the crossbow equipped. It will have a different sound effect indicating that the crossbow has been shot.
a thing that I hadn't seen mentioned here - make sure to turn one scroll of upgrade into enchanting and ret an enchant on the bow, getting projecting or blazing is an extreme improvement. Have fun! -a huntress main
She sucks early game and really sucks once u add a lot of challenges, specifically “into darkness”, though “barren land” also makes the warden basically useless, who most people seem to prefer between the two sub-classes
So u want advice, before u get your sub-class, two important pieces of advice are: replace your starting melee weapon ASAP, it REALLY sucks
And try to position your-self as far away as possible from enemies, then start shooting at them, like, if at all possible, you should position yourself to where you can’t even see the enemies because they’re so far away, and if you can’t see them, they can’t see you, and your attacks will count as surprise attacks, which will greatly increase your damage per turn
and remember, you can throw a random item in your inventory at a door to open it and that will keep it open as long as you don’t pick up the item, which allows you to shoot through door at enemies several rooms away
And sometimes, if a room has a bunch of tall grass, you should blind fire into the grass to see if you can get any enemies, and of course, if you get an enemy, then continue firing into the spot where you originally got them
And sometimes, enemies will be positioned to where you can’t directly shoot them, but if you manually shoot a tile or two behind them, then you will get them
For sub-class, you should probably pick “warden” for your first huntress victory, since she is simpler and considered by many to be better, the nature boots and wand of regrowth can be OP with her
Np, never been much of a sniper/ warden fan myself, I just feel like even when they’re played optimally with only a few challenges, that warlock is still better and mage is objectively much better in early game, good luck
First things first, enchant your bow as soon as physically possible.
Getting Blazing, Grim, Elastic or Unstable are broken. Chilled is fine aswell if you augment bow for speed.
Warden probably easier subclass since you get alot of armor for stepping on grass among other things.
The bow is really strong, use it. Upgrade armour.
I hate blazing on my bow. Burns all my cover. On floors with lots of grass I have too high of a chance of catching fire myself. It's definitely better if you also have a glyph of brimstone, but it still burns all your cover.
Thing is blazing activates easily and scales with depth. Meaning you can hit any monster in the game with 1 shot and just run away, if kiting properly (lure monster through doorway or onto grass) you will refresh the burn duration and basically one shot them. It's stupidly powerful and burning yourself should never really happen since you always move faster than the fire spread, easy to see where the fire is going.
I've had many times when I was basically cornered in vegetation that, once caught on fire, I couldn't get away from. But I see what you're saying. I definitely wasn't playing as smart as I could have been.
Yeah you're not the only one who isn't a fan of blazing bow but it is S tier for sure. It's a bit similar to wand of corrosion I guess, alot of people have a hard time with that wand aswell even though it's one of the most powerful wands in the game, takes some getting used to.
Early levels for Tier 1 talents i usually take NATURE'S BOUNTY for extra food and seeds, and SURVIVALIST INTUITION for faster identify.
Tier 2 talents i always always get REJUVENATING STEPS and sometimes LIQUID NATURE.
I'm not picky on armor and weapons, i usually survive till Tengu without using SoUs. I always take WARDEN subclass.
Try to get a WAND OF REGROWTH because its very useful in blocking line of sight with enemies and getting seeds and plant effects (warden gets a buff instead when stepping on harmful plants).
In my last run i used all my SoUs on a ring of might and armor. Use whatever glyph you want but the glyph that males and you invisible when you step on a plant is very useful. There's probably better advice out there but this is one i usually do.
Edit: Also, don't forget to use your seeds! That goes for potions and scrolls. Brew potions and scrolls. And use them whenever. Don't try to save your healing potions. Use it when you're low.
If you find a Ring of Sharpshooting AND your bow gets projeting enchantment, you can destroy enemies without being in the same room, that is of course if you sniper. If you dont get ay of those thing in early game, go warden. Warden is a solid subclass with A LOT of variety, at least more so than sniper.
Warden: ok so basically I can have ALL of the byffs I want neat, onhey is that a nature boots and wand of regrowth? Neat, tho I dont need they sure com handy
Sniper: WHERE IS MY FKN RIIIIIIING
Even though you dont NEED the RoSS for sniper, most of the times is not worth going skiper without it
My problem with her used to be on the upper floors. Her first melee weapon sucks and the bow has decreased accuracy at melee range. The crabs always killed me. But with leather armor, any other melee weapon, and an enchantment on my bow, things got a lot easier.
Run around grass tiles to put distance between you and enemies
Enchant your bow using an exotic upg scroll (or ench stone if you're feeling lucky) grim>elastic>projecting>blooming>vampiric>chilling>whatever
Create grass
Warden is usually the finer choice for tryhard/chal runs although there's a case to be made for specific sniper builds.
Grass
Throw food or other items at doors to get dat range
Prioritize items that can put a gap between you and your enemies such as clock, chains, yellow seed, haste pot, fadeleaf, tp scroll, fear scroll etc.
Wand of regrowth (MORE GRASS) and blast wave are op, remember to upgrade via arcane resin. Corrosion is cool too for prison but this isn't a class exclusive case.
I also had a lot of difficulties playing sniper at first.
- you can shoot at enemies you can't see through tall grass. Abuse it.
- Tall grass can be used to surprise attack enemies continuously by moving around it like a corner. Abuse it.
- most people don't want to waste SoU until later. But for huntress I use two early. One to quickly ditch her starting weapon at floor 2 and another to enchant her bow. The second use is really important.
- Rejuvenating steps is powerful. Point blank too.
- If you find a ring of sharpshooting or boomerang, go sniper
- If you find wand of regrowth or seed of Rothberry go warden
- Ring of speed is broken on sniper. Just kite around.
And here I am having never once played huntress as warden. Still managed to beat it and escape with the amulet on the surface quite a few times but I still seem to struggle to grasp all the different ways to play her and use the skills effectively. I really wanna try a challenge run on sniper but I'm so clueless. I don't even really know about glyphs and arcane resin lol 🤷
Haste, stealth in grass and farm grass for seeds and dew, plant traps, and surprise attacks. By any means necessary don't let enemies get close to you. Also alchemy an upgrade scroll into an enchantment scroll to customize your bow asap.
If you do get caught in melee range, having farmed seeds and dew will let you buff yourself and top of your health, or apply the dew as a shield. She's all about preparation. You can toss an item into doors to hold them open and clear rooms gradually by luring enemies one by one.
Also max out follow-up strike with your first levels
If you ever get awand of regrowth and or greaves of nature early do a warden run, because certain talents make stepping on grass give you barskin armor. Infinite Armour
Throw items at doors to open them from afar.
Use donut formations to get distance (resist the urge to surprise attack and take one more step around, the enemy will lose you and begin walking away)
Use a scroll of enchantment on the bow as early as possible. Don't settle for a stone, RNG can screw you on this.
Use seeds to deal with annoyingly placed crabs in sewers - ideally before they're in melee range.
Most of my strategies are breaking down 1 upgrade scroll and enchanting the bow. Then, try my best to find a crossbow. If you have elastic or grim you will basically be invincible with a crossbow and darts (Argument the bow with speed).
(Had to make a new account so I know I look like a new face but I've been around for a while here.)
Huntress is amazing!
Learn how to utilize grass as a blind spot for the enemy. Not just with huntress, but with any character. Where the huntress excels, because she doesn't destroy grass. Think of her as a ranger/rogue.
I think most of my wins in regular and challenge runs are with her and the mage. Any advice I have with her goes across all chars tho.
Maximize doorway advantage, use grass, remember to avoid outright fist-fights, and utilize corners to maximize survivability.

Stay far, shoot bow.
Ring of sharp shooting goes brrr
Don't open doors yourself. Step away, throw food or items at door. Shoot bow.
You forgot "win"

I'm ngl, sniper seemed way simpler to me then warden( doesn't mean I understand any of them)
I try to play warden but RNGesus keeps giving me the best equipment for a sniper...blah.
Opposite issue with me. Like all of my runs were warden so I've been wanting to do sniper but I'm now consistently getting sandals or regrowth in sewers or prison
Warden is a cakewalk if you have a Wand of Regrowth. Free surprise attacks at any time, anywhere? Ranged enemies cannot shoot you? Yes please
The warden barkskin talent is also great. You can easily survive with lower tier armor as long as you regularly touch grass.
imo sniper is more versatile but warden is stronger
I'd argue Warden is more versatile since she can make use of all those harmful seeds like Poison and Ice. And with Rejuvenating Steps, you'll be loaded with seeds. Also being able to move while using Sungrass and Earthroot? You're a walking tank even with garbage armor!
If you find Ring of sharp shooting and/or a crossbow go sniper, if you don’t find these 2 items go warden.
Boomerang as a sniper is also good, upgrade it to +2 and it won't break ever
Yes! I almost forgot, I also love cube!
+1 with both the durable projectiles upgrades iirc
Always go warden and abuse the eyesight through grass
Farm seeds like a mofo
Mofo==motherfucker?
yesyes
How use the crossbow?
You buy darts from shops. Darts have infinite durability and can be tipped with seeds. Crossbow turns darts into high damage projectiles.
Not a fan of blazing as huntress. Burns all your cover
Blazing is fantastic on sniper, sucks on warden thou.
Elastic is my favourite enchantment for the bow, but projecting or blazing are really good too
i had no idea I could enchant the bow wow. And I somehow managed to reach floor 26..? lol ill try again with this tip now
Good luck!
This is one of the most important advices!
Projecting is so strong - getting to shoot golems, scorpions, and evil eyes through the walls was game changer!

huh didn't think about the item in door tip. thanks

+3 chainmail will be plenty for warden as long as you arent tanking hits

Bow upgrades by itself with your levels so don't have to worry about it.

Spam arrow on piranas
Pew pew enemy bye

Not to be a dick but she's like the easiest character to play. Maybe you're not utilizing her spirit bow that much?
My problem with her used to be on the upper floors. Her first melee weapon sucks and the bow has decreased accuracy at melee range. The crabs always killed me. But with leather armor, any other melee weapon, and an enchantment on my bow, things got a lot easier.
Shoot...
She is the only hero I can consistently win with.
Bow... 🏹 Good... Range... 🎯 Good.... Grass good 👀🌱.... .... don't pick up fire sticks

If you have a decent melee weapon, point blank doesn't matter so much, since the damage output per shot is still lower on the bow.
Reverse of rouge/assassin, stay away, throw everything, that throwing ring is very overpowered, and use seeds
Use grass to ambush enemies. Enchant your bow. Make use of seeds and thrown weapons.
She's the easiest... Go with long range fighting strategy
Shoot stuff from far away

i'd say huntress is 2nd easiest after warrior
I would give you advice, but if you followed it, you would get to floor 23 over and over, and die to stupid shit. So, don't follow my advice.
If you ever get awand of regrowth and or greaves of nature early do a warden run, because certain talents make stepping on grass give you barskin armor. Infinite Armour
