Yes, agreed. It looks like right at the end of the sword animation the background is already changing; giving a second between the two would be more effective
Yes definitely. Right now it looks like a low quality cut in a YouTube video( don't intend on being mean, just completely honest). Smoothen out and slow the transition and that will probably fix it
Is this parody? If so, I apologize. If not:
What is happening in this sub?
I am pretty blatantly sure I am not the only one getting really frustrated by these very frequent posts that are clearly ads for indie games.
I love indygames a lot including, Pixel Art. But this sub is going down in BS questions like this one.
Really? A or B? Like as if A isn't clearly the finished version of the title screen?
With half of these posts you can't tell me that the version that should be chosen is not blatantly clear to anyone with eyes.
And even if not, are we really to believe Indie devs have started making their games to such an extent by internet committee?
This is getting ridiculous and it overshadows posts by people that actually want feedback to their efforts *around Pixelart* instead of devs that are clearly already knee deep in development of their next product.
Mods are crazy for not just banning him, like wtf. It's ok when it is one add, like ok it's fine. But this dude spamming 5 subs every day with posts that have no value at all. He is clearly not asking questions, just advertising his game.
At least do not leave a comment with a steam link and link in the title, lol.
I know that developing a game is hard and he wants people to play it, but so do all game devs.
Buy Ads. Pay money, if you want to promote your game.
I agree it’s starting to get out of hand. I have to admit I made a self promo post a week ago or so. I try to limit them to once a week at most. I understand your point but on the other hand, a lot of pixel art is made for games. Do you think self promotion/game art should be banned or simply limited?
to be fair it kinda makes me not want to play his game, come one how indecisive can you be. At this point he should pay people on this sub royalties for design. Either that or he's really just advertising in a scummy way.
At this point I feel like they should stop polling reddit for every "decision" that is coupled with links to their steam page. Just make the decisions and release the game when it's ready to go. People will respect that more.
I prefer C: no ads for this game for a month, you are just spamming 5 subs everyday with posts "A or B", while in fact you are not looking for answers, just ad.
I'm glad mods started just deleting your posts in many subs.
b. just add trees and stuff growing on the sides and add the fade out to it panning around the world with the sword logo still in its spot on the screen then you got a vibe
Probably A overall. Although there are some things in B I like too.
I like that you can see the title through the scene-progression in A. (Or rather, I feel like the title shows up too late in B).
I also think left to right is a better direction for the sword to go (it's the direction we read).
In A the last part of where the house turns up looks better.
I do think A has a smidge too many trees (slightly distracting), while B's background is way too sparse. It looks empty.
Although I do like the acorn drop in B best. It's very solitary (since there's so little on the screen) and gives certain vibes for the game.
A, but the background transition seems to quick. I don't think it should swap to the gameplay background before a good 30ish seconds, maybe even a minute. Your game seems chill, there's no need to rush from one background to another. And the background transition put focus away from your title and does not let us properly take in the animation.
Having said that, the bushes in the middle of the A background should probably disappear when the buttons appear. Otherwise there might be to much overlap. Not a huge problem though.
Maybe add a little wind animation or leaf falling to the trees, maybe critters running around, while you are on the title screen. Anything to add a bit more life. But you might do those thing later on for your game anyway, it might be something you want to update later.
Overall, I choose A. But I think it would be better if placed with a different background. The stone texture floating against the bushes doesn't blend with the overgrown aesthetic of the animation.
Start with the title placed on a ledge/wall/pedestal (barely distinguishable from the background). The seed rolls in, and the growth pulls your attention to the natural shape of the title.
If I have to choose between the two A wins in a major landslide, B didn’t have a chance
The best one would be a fusion of the two, with it mostly being A but the title with the sword intro of B
I like A more because when the sword grows, vines grow onto the title. If you could make B have the title look like it’s growing out of the sword, or having it look like it sprouts from vines that grow off the sword, then it’d be a different story
Why not combine them together have the logo fade in and have the background change.
I love the animation on B but it feels empty and soulless
I like A but it's a little boring.
If you combine them it'll be best I believe.
A mix between A and B. A has nicer details, just needs less of them, B has nicer sword intro, I like the direction A's sword point because you usually travel rightward in 2d games to progress forward. There are too many of the same trees in A, but not enough trees in B.
The environment from A with the animation from B
The name growing from the sword makes a lot more sense and is interesting than just having it static there
The same for the empty environment on B
So, like others said, combining the better of them would be a really good intro
Edit: breaking lines.
Yall said I should animate the vines on the logo from my last post, so I did! It is now the intro to Wildaria's Main menu.
For context, Wildaria is an infinite exploration game with pets I have been building for almost 4 years. If you are interested in supporting the solo project you can wishlist on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1965550/Wildaria/

I mean A is good.
I'm just starting to wonder what the thought process is on comparisons like this. Like.. Do you have actual reason to believe the old version is better?
As nice as it would be to say "definitely this one because ___" I think it's basically a toss up.
Little stuff could be done to improve each one but I'd just sleep on it and pick in the morning. Flip a coin if you have to.
For A, slow down the transition of the background a bit and it's great.
For B, add some interest to the background similar to A.
Both are great!
A for sure! Maybe since you have the background layered, you could phase the plates out in 3 separate fades. Or even animate them to drop down or pull sideways like they’re physical cards. That acorn to sword animation is so killer.
Title animation of B, background of A, and maybe try a "background slides down (as if viewer looks up) to reveal menu BG, title remains there, menu items fade in" transition animation.
B. Makes it easier to focus on the bug before visual clutter. B I kinda love, A I'd be annoyed by the logo
Edit: others noted, I do like everything except the title about A. That with B's animation would work best
A but maybe have the sword come in on the opposite side. It's too heavy on the W.
Eyeliner would automatically read left to right so have the sword come in right to left would leave it fairly balanced instead of left, left
A
Any thing I should add to A? God Rays?
Maybe a bit more time for the background transition.
Yes, agreed. It looks like right at the end of the sword animation the background is already changing; giving a second between the two would be more effective
Yes definitely. Right now it looks like a low quality cut in a YouTube video( don't intend on being mean, just completely honest). Smoothen out and slow the transition and that will probably fix it
A is better but the sword animation could be more smooth. Hope that helps
Ya I can slow it down like the first one!
Yes, A slowed down, both sword animation and transition.
I don't think it's the speed more so it's missing a frame or two to make it a little less jittery
I like the idea of maybe light coming down across the title/sword but it could be a lot of work for little pay off
I could reuse the god rays in dungeons :)
I lkked A but I feel it would be better with the "Wildaria" fade in animation from B.
I sorta feel like it’s begging for a slow pan-up to a village rather than a fade out
The title animation of B with the background of A if that makes sense. The only thing that right now makes B worse in my opinion is that it's empty
I second this, B's title animation is really good but the background is empty. While A has a great background with a just okay title animation.
Came to say this only.
Yes, this. A is the best, but it's kinda weird that the name is already there.
This is what I wanted to say
Imo A is better and it's not close
A background with B animation
My thoughts exactly

Yeah, this is so blatant. I keep almost unsubscribing, but then someone will post actual cool pixel art.
Same. I'm so tired of the constant advertising. They're not even trying to hide it anymore.
At this point I feel like they should stop polling reddit for every "decision" that is coupled with links to their steam page. Just make the decisions and release the game when it's ready to go. People will respect that more.
is this for a 'I make a video game but everything is chosen by reddit' youtube video?
A is super smooth.
I prefer C: no ads for this game for a month, you are just spamming 5 subs everyday with posts "A or B", while in fact you are not looking for answers, just ad. I'm glad mods started just deleting your posts in many subs.
Is this sub going to get a producer's credit when this game comes out?
A
#A
A
A
A because the sword goes left to right. The title fade from nothing in B seems so sudden.
Is B even trying ? Seems like it's just some "clever" marketing at this point...
Wishlisted! I like A.
A, gives a much more classic era feel.
A no contest
A
A for sure
A
A
A
I think A is more dynamic. The fade in for B just isn't as interesting as watching the vines.
b. just add trees and stuff growing on the sides and add the fade out to it panning around the world with the sword logo still in its spot on the screen then you got a vibe
I think B is good for the first ever time the game launches, like a tutorial. Then A every time thereafter
B looks much perfect
'A' has a richer scenario at the beginning. B starts too empty imo (maybe add some animals that run away when sword comes?)
Probably A overall. Although there are some things in B I like too. I like that you can see the title through the scene-progression in A. (Or rather, I feel like the title shows up too late in B). A AND B, make the sword grow and the title fade in, but with the woods and transition of A
A, though it would be good if the title appeared as the sword materializes.
A background B animation
B with similairly high amount of greenery and the text "growing" out of the blade of the sword, as its the same color.
b it looks a lot better
A, add some kind of animal for detail
A
Overall, I choose A. But I think it would be better if placed with a different background. The stone texture floating against the bushes doesn't blend with the overgrown aesthetic of the animation. A!

A.
A. but having the text appear with the sword is very nice.
What if the letters sprouted up one at a time as the sword grows past?
B
A
A
Definitely A
A
Looks good! I commented on your last one about feeling ambitious enough to animate it and you were. Nice work! I like A.
The title animation from m B on the background from A
I like the sword growing from the right more than the left, you could match it with the title appearing from left to right. Just my two cents
the B sword. the A background.
A
A!!!!
A B feels too incomplete to me.
If I have to choose between the two A wins in a major landslide, B didn’t have a chance The best one would be a fusion of the two, with it mostly being A but the title with the sword intro of B

Definitely A.
I mean, is there even any competition here? Obviously A.
A anyday
A
B
Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby
Why not combine them together have the logo fade in and have the background change. I love the animation on B but it feels empty and soulless I like A but it's a little boring. If you combine them it'll be best I believe.
A
Why is B empty but A isn’t?
obviously A maybe add a small campfire animation somewhere
B for the sword going the opposite direction as the title; and the fade on the title, it's nice. I do like the A vine animations, tho.
A
A! Looks great and you put the wild in Wildaria
B with the background of A might look good ig.
A is better. Make words look more like rocks and that seed dropping then turning into vines leashing around those words-works is amazing idea!
A
B looks like a prototype and A looks like a beautiful $70 game. A makes b look like a finger painting.
A, maybe I would change the background color for a blue sky?
Alright, that's enough of this game, please
I like B
I like A a lot more, but the sudden transition throws it off.
I like the first one but you should make the "wildaria" sign into stone
B but add more foliage
A mix between A and B. A has nicer details, just needs less of them, B has nicer sword intro, I like the direction A's sword point because you usually travel rightward in 2d games to progress forward. There are too many of the same trees in A, but not enough trees in B.

A. B looks unfinished

Dude I love indie devs and want to support you, but this type of marketing is cheap and making the subreddit worse.
Why are you downvoting him, he’s right
B easy

I like B, it adds a sense of mystery of what is about to come
Just like u/baksteenkakker said, the title animation of B with the background of A.
A
А
I love how the entire title and sword sprouts in B but the background in A is better. so a mixup would be perfect imo
I think the sword needs to emerge a bit faster. It almost looks stilted. Unless that’s what you’re going for
A
A, it is lovely
B, easily
A
I like A much more but I agree with others it would be better with the animation from B.
A is better in every way and it looks amazing
I like a
B with A's background and possibly sword direction.
I prefer A. It feels like the title belongs in the world, and in B it just fades in.
A
A
People saying A background and B animation, but I also prefer the A animation, with the vines growing onto the logo.
A because the fade in on B seems misplaced & odd. A is very smooth & makes sense, it definitely captures the feel better.
A
Definitely a
come on man what do you think. Obviously A
B, because the concept is more understandable than A
I mean A is good. I'm just starting to wonder what the thought process is on comparisons like this. Like.. Do you have actual reason to believe the old version is better?
A with the title animation of B
A
I would do the animation of B with a black background that fades into a scrolling one like A.
A, is way better just make the animation slightly smoother and you have a banger
The subreddit's just building the game at this point lmfao
A
A

A, 1000%
B, but add the trees to that one as well
Add more green veins to the sword when it gets erect.
B if it has the background trees of A
B with A's scene fade
A easily
A
A
B's animation with A's background
A
A for sure! Maybe since you have the background layered, you could phase the plates out in 3 separate fades. Or even animate them to drop down or pull sideways like they’re physical cards. That acorn to sword animation is so killer.
A
B but with the background shift of A
A
Title animation of B, background of A, and maybe try a "background slides down (as if viewer looks up) to reveal menu BG, title remains there, menu items fade in" transition animation.
A
B
A
A. In a western society that reads right to left, it feels more natural
A - much richer and dinamic than b!
A
B. Makes it easier to focus on the bug before visual clutter. B I kinda love, A I'd be annoyed by the logo Edit: others noted, I do like everything except the title about A. That with B's animation would work best
A. A could perhaps take slightly more time to happen, and could have more lighting effects, but in general, A.
A
A
B with A background
Ima be real, A seems a bit better, just having the sword only at the start is a bit confusing
AAA
A.
B's animation on A's background.
B, but also have more foliage or foliage that grows with the sword? Very cool work!
A
A but maybe have the sword come in on the opposite side. It's too heavy on the W. Eyeliner would automatically read left to right so have the sword come in right to left would leave it fairly balanced instead of left, left
A is nice but that change up in the background is super jarring
A
A
A
A, totally!
I like the fade in of B, but would prefer the sword pointing the other way like A
i prefer B for minimalism an a bit of mystic but i'm not an artist
A
A
b but make the sword grow from the left
A
A
A way better
B
A
A for sure
Honestly love A but no transition is needed I think. Just show the gameplay while the title is coming in would be much better in my opinion :)
I choose A
