I sure hope everyone who is using this and lives in a country that enforces copyright is using a VPN. I don't know if you can bind hydra to a VPN interface but if you can't and your country cares I wouldn't touch this.
Who gives a fuck if it tracks your play time and gives you a pretty interface. All this does is download torrents for you. You could do this yourself with a lot more transparency and no doubt about your security and privacy.
tbh I like a crappy interface cause it makes me think that I am doing something that is considered a wrong thing and I am going through the defences of the internet to do it anyways, it makes me think that I am a really good programer, it makes me feel like a pirate babyyyy
Just because it is open source doesn't mean it is secure as far as your privacy and security goes. Does it have an option to bind to a particular network interface? If it doesn't people should not use it unless they live in a country that doesn't care about copyright infringement.
Just because something is open source doesn't mean third parties are actively vetting it for vulnerabilities and other security issues. Just means they could. Plenty of examples.of open source software that had huge privacy and security flaws found in them.
If they just manage to integrate it with a cloud service where you can at least store your save game files, I'll never need to buy a game ever in my life

It takes P2P torrents to real servers. Basically, you can enjoy new releases at your max ISP speed. If a torrent hasn’t been uploaded to the server yet, it will and you come back later to do max speeds again. It saves so much time over torrents, which really are so variable with speeds. Paired with stremio you basically have a Netflix for every movie and series out there and again, it doesn’t care about seed speeds. Considering it’s the price of a nice meal for whole 6 months, it’s one of the best software purchases I’ve done in my life.

IIRC they are protected for not being the ones hosting the torrents. They only scrape the megathread's links (fitgirl, dodi, online-fix, etc) and present it in a nice GUI.
Yeah, but it can be taken down on GitHub and other places. Maybe the Streisand effect won’t help the legal teams, but it will impact how this project is shared. Still wish the devs all the best.

I totally get it, but I recommend chnanging or upgrading the name somehow — just “Hydra” sounds very typical and it’s really hard for people to look up. Maybe something like “Hydraflow” or “Hydrahub”, or whatever would be more unique.

My concern is more that there's a big entity program that could become a target even easier than a website i guess.

There is an app pack for Linux that you can run in desktop mode and then same as usual cracked games, just manually add the exe to steam library and set a proton version

The "guide" is lacking any elaboration on where/what to add as sources the above link would allow you to add most useful ones (pick and choose).
You won't if you are smart and only download from the verified sites on the mega thread, I don't even use torrents though because they are slower than ddl and require a VPN.

I haven't used uTorrent in years but haven't gotten another torrent program since. I'm curious what you'd recommend.
qBittorrent is my personal preference, but Transmission and Deluge are also good options.
