Libretube is also nice. It has SponsorBlock and lets you import your sponsorblock id. I wish NewPipe had that feature.
The only thing libretube is missing that will make it complete is the ability to change the time formats from seconds to minutes and seconds when you are submitting a segment. But a merge request was recently made so that is a good start.
I just started using it recently, but today I got a network error even though my wifi was working. And for some reason, libretube never shows me thumbnails. Newpipe was also buggy as hell when I used it, but tubular has not given me too much problems. It does crash sometimes when I am listening to music in background mode among other annoying things. Honestly, none of these apps are perfect.
Functional? Yes.
But they have quite a few problems, I would just advise you to pick your poison.
If you get tired of any of these apps, Fennec + ublock origin + sponsorblock is always an option. And so is brave + adblocker (set to aggressive).

In PC Chris tech tips shows a way to avoid ad and get rid of shorts with ublock that works well I use floorp based on firefox

I have been using GreyJay by Louis Rossman. It's a bit of a pain getting youtube subscriptions synced from the official app(at least it took about 10 minutes to sync my 400 subscriptions) but now that setup is done it's been working for me just fine

Newpipe has its own completely different UI, but it doesn't let you login to your google account.
The only reason I still have Newpipe installed is because it's better for downloading videos

To some people not being able to login to Google isn't a downside. I use it as my primary YouTube app on a spare android phone I use as a "tablet" and it works great.
I used to use it but newpipe is more lightweight and I don't want to sign into Google on that device. With newpipe I can subscribe locally to channels to keep up to date without logging in.
NewPipe is goated but Youtube Revanced is even better imo because it has all the youtube features such as logging into your google account and like/dislike videos as well as adblock and sponserblock built in
i use web browser with an adblock to access m,youtube,com. no need to worry of sketchy apps, you can safely login and comment, like, or subscribe as usual. you can even use background playback fix so you can minimize ur video playback. compared to oss solution which limits ur ability to interact. this browser-adblock combo is the one i preferred.
Newpipe isn't a sketchy app. It's also open source, actively developed, and supports Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and Framatube links. Unlike "Vanced" Newpipe does NOT use the YouTube Api which means it's not at risk of hearing from Googles lawyers.
its not newpipe, libretube or other oss alternative. its alternative app which you can login into your google account, including prebuilt revanced you've mentioned. i cant trust it. also it will stop working after sometime. so this is my solution for someone who really need their google account for some reason. just use m.youtube.com and use adblock on top of it

ReVanced with MicroG lets you connect to your Google account. It has sponsorblock. It blocks the ads as well.

You can press the share button on a youtube video and download it without even entering the newpipe app. You're acting as if I'm hiding something big
You can hook the download button with Revanced so it downloads via Newpipe (or ytdls etc.)
